What is Qliphoth Awakening?
1 part
Qliphoth Awakening is included in the pack at version 3.2, built for Minecraft 1.21.1. Its content is registered under the fdbosses namespace, and the pack's quest book asks you for trophies from it.[1][2]
Where it shows up in the pack
The mod appears in the "bounty_board" quest chapter. That chapter lists the Malkuth quest first, then the Chesed quest. a quest in "Bounty Board" has a single task: hand in the Malkuth Trophy.[2]
"Kill The Chesed" quest asks for the Chesed Trophy and also has structure tasks. So this quest wants you to find structures as well as get the trophy.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not describe what the mod's bosses and structures do, how to obtain the trophies, or whether the ATM Star path uses this mod. Check the bounty_board chapter in the quest book for what the pack itself tells you.
How do you get started with Qliphoth Awakening?
5 parts
Qliphoth Awakening is a boss mod. The sources here show Chesed, Geburah and Malkuth as its bosses, and the pack's quest book tracks their trophies. Below are the first things you can craft, with the in-pack recipes.[2][3]
Craft the Qliphothic Codex
The first item to make is the Qliphothic Codex. This is the mod's own recipe, unchanged by the pack.[4]

Know your bosses before you fight
The mod's own descriptions give each boss a hint. Chesed is a creature born from rocks corroded by sculk, and a diamond axe is the recommended weapon. For Geburah a ranged weapon is recommended, and the description shows a bow. For Malkuth, the developer note says it is better to fight him at night.[3]
Follow the bounty board quests
The pack's bounty_board quest chapter tracks boss trophies. Quest a quest in "Bounty Board" asks you to hand in the Malkuth Trophy. Quest "Kill The Chesed" quest asks for the Chesed Trophy and also lists structure tasks. Both quests are untitled, and the sources do not show what the structure tasks require.[2]
Build with Justicestone
Polished Justicestone appears in the mod's text among Geburah's boss drops. Once you have it, craft it into Justicestone Bricks, the base for most of the decorative blocks.[3][4]
From the bricks you can craft Chiseled Justicestone Bricks, Justicestone Beam, Justicestone Column, Justicestone Stairs, Justicestone Wall and Justicestone Bricks Slab. A column can then become a Justicestone Column Wall. Polished Justicestone itself crafts into Polished Justicestone Slab and Polished Justicestone Stairs.[4]

Added by the pack: sandpaper polishing turns Justicestone Stairs into Polished Justicestone Stairs.
How does Qliphoth Awakening work?
6 parts
Qliphoth Awakening is a boss mod. The sources for this pack describe three boss fights (Chesed, Geburah and Malkuth), the effects they use, the gear they drop and the config values behind them. That is what this section covers.[3]
Difficulty and arena rules
Boss damage scales with the game difficulty. The pack sets the multiplier to 0.25 on Peaceful (peacefulDifficultyBossDamageMuliplier), 0.5 on the step between Peaceful and Normal (easyDifficultyBossDamageMultiplier), 0.75 on Normal (normalDifficultyBossDamageMultiplier) and 1 on Hard (hardDifficultyBossDamageMultiplier).[5]
Bosses do not despawn when they lose their target, because bossesDespawn is false. The only blocks allowed to break inside an arena are those matching the patterns in blocksAllowedToBreakInArena: anything with "grave" or "tomb" in its id, plus tombstone:grave_simple.[5]
Chesed
Chesed can't be hurt directly, and its arena is hard to escape. Its damage can't be lowered by any resistances. While it's alive, everyone in the fight gets Night Vision, and a player who looks away from Chesed is inflicted with Chesed Gaze, an extreme level of blindness. It moves to its second phase when its HP drops below 50%.[3]
Chesed spawns 4 monoliths, and they are the key to the fight. A monolith deactivates when it dies and can't be damaged anymore. On the second phase each monolith gains extra HP, which the pack sets to 50 with chesedConfig.additionalSecondPhaseMonolithHP. Chesed's final attack drains the monoliths and hits everyone on the battlefield, and the damage depends on how many monoliths are still active. The pack sets 30 with chesedConfig.finalAttackDamagePercentPerMonolith. Monoliths are invulnerable while Chesed casts it and become active again afterwards.[3][5]
The lightning ray is handled with crystals and reflectors. Before the ray, Chesed destroys all crystals and summons one on each side of the battlefield. A player who destroys a crystal gets the Chesed Energized effect, and the ray deals 0 damage to anyone who has it. Each ray hit lowers the effect level by 1, and the effect is removed if a ray reflector was also hit. Players with the effect charge nearby ray reflectors, and if the ray hits a charged reflector, Chesed takes 1 damage.[3]
The electrified air above Chesed damages anything that interacts with it. According to the pack's config comment, chesedConfig.electrifiedAirInstadeathHP kills a player outright if their HP is lower than the value, and the pack sets it to 4.[3][5]
- Roll: Chesed rolls around the arena, damaging and pushing everyone in its way. In the second phase it leaves a fire trail. The pack sets roll damage to 8 and fire trail damage to 2.[3][5]
- Lightning ray: The pack sets the base ray damage to 10 with chesedConfig.rayDamage. The attack is more frequent in the second phase. While charging, Chesed aims slightly ahead of your movement and stops aiming moments before it fires.[3][5]
- Kinetic field: Used only in the second phase. It traps players in a field they can't escape, and lightning is periodically summoned inside it.[3]
- Ball lightnings: Chesed releases them outward, and they can't be reflected. The pack sets their damage to 10.[3][5]
The lang file recommends a diamond axe against Chesed.[3]
Geburah
The lang file recommends a ranged weapon, a bow, for Geburah. The fight runs on the Sinner effect: a sinner can commit sins, and committing too many results in immediate death. The pack caps this at 5 with geburahConfig.maxPlayerSins.[3][5]
Geburah's Divine Judgement is the attack to watch for. It lights two flames on the scales and starts charging. Bells appear around the arena, and hitting one (ranged weapons work) displaces the matching scale plate. If the scales end up balanced, the attack is canceled. If they don't, every combatant takes damage based on their current HP, accumulates 3 sins and loses all positive effects. Sin Crystal is a separate sin mechanic: Geburah fires projectiles that put Crystals of Sin in your inventory, and if one explodes there, you accumulate a sin.[3]
Geburah also summons 4 Judgement Birds that fire lasers at combatants. A killed bird respawns after a while, and a bird with no targets in its detection area flies back to its home point. Other attacks include a justice hammer, an earthquake, a core ray, predictive lasers, rotating lasers and cannon projectiles. The pack's damage values are:[3]
- Judgement birds: 15 (geburahConfig.judgementBirdDamage).[5]
- Rotating lasers: 25 (geburahConfig.rotatingLaserAttackDamage).[5]
- Cannon projectiles: 30 (geburahConfig.cannonProjectileDamage).[5]
- Core ray: 40 (geburahConfig.coreRayStrikeDamage).[5]
- Earthquake: 40 (geburahConfig.earthquakeDamage).[5]
- Justice hammer: 40 (geburahConfig.justiceHammerDamage).[5]
- Predictive lasers: 40 (geburahConfig.predictiveLaserAttackDamage).[5]
Malkuth
Malkuth's description carries a developer note that it's better to fight him at night. The sources also list two effects around the fight: Knight (dueling Malkuth to the death) and Coward, which kills its owner the moment it expires. The sources don't say exactly when each is applied. The pack sets Malkuth's fireball damage to 50 with malkuthConfig.fireballsDamage.[3][5]
Boss gear
Each boss drops a trophy plus gear that you can use in your own fights. The shared Shocked effect lowers outgoing damage by a set percentage, and the pack sets that to 25 with effectConfig.shockDamageReductionPercent.[3][5]
- Lightning Core (Chesed): Apply it to any weapon in a crafting table. Attacks then have a chance to call a Chesed lightning strike that deals a percentage of the weapon's damage and inflicts Shocked. The pack sets the chance to 33, the damage to 100 and the shock duration to 200 ticks.[3][5]
- Phase Sphere (Chesed): Lets you phase through blocks at high speed. Mobs can still damage you, since you're only immune to suffocating in blocks. The pack sets the cooldown to 100 and the use duration to 200.[3][5]
- Justice Core (Geburah): Apply it to any armor in a crafting table. Incoming damage is reduced and capped at the amount of the last damage you took, after all resistances. It isn't stackable. The pack's config value is 15 (itemConfig.justiceCoreDamageReduction).[3][5]
- Divine Gear (Geburah): Places a turret that attacks any mob around it and prioritizes the last entity you attacked. It holds up to 3 charges in the pack (itemConfig.divineGearCharges).[3][5]
- Divine Gear damage: the pack sets it to 25 (itemConfig.divineGearDamage).[5]
- Divine Gear attack cooldown: the pack sets it to 60 (itemConfig.divineGearAttackCooldown).[5]
- Divine Gear attack radius: the pack sets it to 25 (itemConfig.divineGearAttackRadius).[5]
- Divine Gear lifetime: the pack sets it to 500 (itemConfig.divineGearLifetime).[5]
- Divine Gear charge replenish time: the pack sets it to 500 (itemConfig.divineGearChargeReplenishTime).[5]
- Fire and Ice Core (Malkuth): Attach it to any item that has damage. Using the item releases a fireball that deals a percentage of the item's damage and ignites targets. Crouching while using it releases an iceball that slows targets instead. The pack sets the fireball tool damage percent to 200 and the ability cooldown to 200.[3][5]
- Malkuth's Fist: In the right hand it's a block grappling hook that casts Malkuth's crush at the grapple point, and used on the ground while facing down it propels you upward. In the left hand it's an entity grappling hook that makes you attack the target and then knocks you back. Using it in the left hand and then moving it back to the right resets its cooldown.[3]

Geburah drops Polished Justicestone, a whole lot of Justicestone. You turn it into building blocks, starting with Justicestone Bricks.[3][4]
From the bricks you can make the chiseled bricks, beam, column, slab, stairs and wall. The recipes for those are in the recipe viewer. The pack also adds a Create sandpaper polishing recipe that turns Justicestone Stairs into Polished Justicestone Stairs.[4]

How do you progress through Qliphoth Awakening?
3 parts
Qliphoth Awakening doesn't have a long tier ladder in this pack. Its quest progression sits in the bounty_board chapter, and the rest is a set of crafting recipes. Here's what the pack actually shows.[2][4]
Quest path
- a quest in "Bounty Board" is untitled, and its task is the Malkuth Trophy.[2]
- "Kill The Chesed" quest is also untitled. It asks for the Chesed Trophy and adds structure tasks.[2]
Both quests sit in the bounty_board chapter and are built around trophy items, so your progress with this mod is tracked by bringing those trophies back.[2]
Crafting your tools
The Qliphothic Codex uses the mod's regular shaped crafting recipe.[4]

Justicestone building chain
The mod's decorative blocks all branch off Polished Justicestone. Crafting it into Justicestone Bricks opens up the rest of the set.[4]
From the bricks you can craft Chiseled Justicestone Bricks, Justicestone Beam, Justicestone Bricks Slab, Justicestone Column, Justicestone Stairs and Justicestone Wall. The column then leads on to Justicestone Column Wall.[4]
Polished Justicestone also crafts into Polished Justicestone Slab and Polished Justicestone Stairs.[4]

Which FTB StoneBlock 4 quests use Qliphoth Awakening?
In this pack, Qliphoth Awakening shows up in the bounty_board quest chapter. Its quests there revolve around the boss trophies from the mod's fights.[2]
- a quest in "Bounty Board" asks you to hand in the Malkuth Trophy. That is its only task.[2]
- "Kill The Chesed" quest asks you to hand in the Chesed Trophy. It also has structure tasks alongside the trophy.[2]
In the chapter data, the Malkuth quest is listed first and the Chesed quest after it. Treat that as the order they are stored in, not as a required order.[2]
Which Qliphoth Awakening config options matter?
4 parts
Everything for Qliphoth Awakening lives in one file, config/fdbosses/bosses.json. Below are the values this pack ships, grouped by what you're most likely to care about, so you can check them against your own file.[5]
Difficulty scaling
Boss damage is scaled by your world difficulty. In this pack, peacefulDifficultyBossDamageMuliplier is 0.25, easyDifficultyBossDamageMultiplier is 0.5, normalDifficultyBossDamageMultiplier is 0.75 and hardDifficultyBossDamageMultiplier is 1. The peaceful key really is spelled "Muliplier" in the file, so copy it exactly if you edit it.[5]
Arena and despawn behavior
- bossesDespawn is false. The file describes it as controlling whether bosses despawn if no target is found, so in this pack they stay put.[5]
- blocksAllowedToBreakInArena is set to the regex (grave)|(tomb) plus the exact id ^tombstone:grave_simple$. The file says this option takes block id regexes.[5]
Boss fight tuning
Each boss has its own section. These are the values that shape the fights the most.[5]
- Chesed: chesedConfig.chesedMaxHits is 10. chesedConfig.healthAfterSecondPhaseTransition is 10, and the file says that if health is greater than this value at the second phase, it gets set to the value. chesedConfig.additionalSecondPhaseMonolithHP is 50, which is the monolith HP gained when the second phase starts.[5]
- Chesed's electrified air: chesedConfig.electrifiedAirInstadeathHP is 4, and per the file it immediately kills you if your HP is lower than that. chesedConfig.electrifiedAirCurrentHealthDamagePercent is 33, which the file labels "Defence from flight".[5]
- Chesed's final attack: chesedConfig.finalAttackDamagePercentPerMonolith is 30.[5]
- Geburah: geburahConfig.maxPlayerSins is 5 and geburahConfig.ultimateMoveHealthPercentage is 50. Its hardest hitters are geburahConfig.coreRayStrikeDamage, geburahConfig.earthquakeDamage, geburahConfig.justiceHammerDamage and geburahConfig.predictiveLaserAttackDamage, all at 40.[5]
- Malkuth: malkuthConfig.malkuthMaxHits is 10. malkuthConfig.fireballsDamage is 50 and malkuthConfig.sideRocksDamage is 40. malkuthConfig.chainpunchCooldown is 150 and malkuthConfig.nonWeakToDamageReduction is 100.[5]
Item and effect settings
- Divine Gear: itemConfig.divineGearCharges is 3, itemConfig.divineGearDamage is 25, itemConfig.divineGearAttackCooldown is 60, itemConfig.divineGearAttackRadius is 25, and both itemConfig.divineGearLifetime and itemConfig.divineGearChargeReplenishTime are 500.[5]
- Shock procs: itemConfig.chanceToSummonFlyingSword is 75 and itemConfig.chanceToSummonLightningStrike is 33. itemConfig.flyingSwordDamagePercent is 50 and itemConfig.lightningStrikeDamagePercent is 100.[5]
- Shock duration: itemConfig.flyingSwordShockDuration and itemConfig.lightningStrikeShockDuration are both 200, and the file says these are in ticks. effectConfig.shockDamageReductionPercent is 25.[5]
- Other gear: itemConfig.justiceCoreDamageReduction is 15, itemConfig.iceFireGauntletCooldown is 60, itemConfig.iceFireGauntletCrushDamage is 15, itemConfig.phaseSphereCooldown is 100 and itemConfig.phaseSphereUseDuration is 200.[5]
- Malkuth fireball ability for players: itemConfig.playerMalkuthFireballAbilityCooldown is 200 and itemConfig.playerMalkuthFireballToolDamagePercent is 200.[5]
What changed in Qliphoth Awakening between versions?
1 part
Qliphoth Awakening has been in FTB StoneBlock 4 since the start: the pack's mod list says it was first included in 1.0.0 or earlier. In pack version 1.21.0 you get Qliphoth Awakening 3.2, shipped as the file fdbosses-3.2-1.21.1.jar.[1]
Mod changelog
- 3.1.0.3: adapted for FDLib 1.0.8. That is the only note in the mod changelog I have for this mod.[6]
There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so I can't point to a pack release that changed it. I also don't have a mod changelog for 3.2, the version in this pack, so what changed in that update is unverified.[1]
