What is Custom Machinery Mekanism?

2 parts

Custom Machinery Mekanism is an addon for Custom Machinery that adds Mekanism integration. With it, a custom machine can hold, consume or produce Mekanism elements such as gas or infusions. It requires both Custom Machinery and Mekanism to be installed.[1]

What it supports

  • Gas (currently supported)[1]
  • Infusion types (currently supported)[1]
  • Pigments (currently supported)[1]
  • Slurry (currently supported)[1]
  • Heat and temperature (currently supported)[1]
  • Radiation (currently supported)[1]

Laser support and item-to-infusion slots are listed as planned, so don't count on them. The addon also works with KubeJS and CraftTweaker for creating machine recipes.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Custom Machinery Mekanism version 1.4.16.[2]

Unverified The sources here show no quests in this pack that involve this mod, and no place for it on the ATM Star path, so there is no quest chapter or group to point you to.

How do you get started with Custom Machinery Mekanism?

3 parts

Here's the first thing to know: Custom Machinery Mekanism isn't a mod where you craft a starter item and go. It's an addon for Custom Machinery that adds Mekanism support, so machine creators can build custom machines that hold, consume or produce Mekanism elements. It needs both Custom Machinery and Mekanism installed.[1]

What the addon lets a machine handle

The project page lists these Mekanism features as currently supported by the addon. If you're planning or reading about a custom machine, these are the things it can work with at the moment:[1]

  • Gas: listed as currently supported.[1]
  • Infusion types: listed as currently supported.[1]
  • Pigments: listed as currently supported.[1]
  • Slurry: listed as currently supported.[1]
  • Heat and temperature: listed as currently supported.[1]
  • Radiation: listed as currently supported.[1]

Laser support and item-to-infusion slots are listed as planned, so don't count on them yet.[1]

Your first steps

  1. Remember this is an addon of Custom Machinery. The project page says it requires both Custom Machinery and Mekanism to be installed.[1]
  2. Decide which Mekanism element your machine should deal with, such as gas, infusion, pigment, slurry, heat or radiation, using the list above.[1]
  3. If you write recipes through scripting, the project page says the addon brings full compatibility with KubeJS and CraftTweaker for creating machine recipes.[1]

Heat and radiation settings

If you build a machine with heat, the creation screen has a few settings worth knowing. Base temperature is the temperature in Kelvin the machine has when no heat is provided. Heat capacity is the amount of heat in Kelvin needed to warm the machine up from 1K.[3]

Conduction controls how much heat can go in or out, and higher values mean more can be extracted but less inserted. Insulation controls heat lost to the environment, and higher values mean less loss. The heat bar also has minimum and maximum temperature settings, which only change what the bar displays.[3]

For radiation, a machine can emit radiation when it's broken while holding a radioactive chemical. A radiation requirement can also ask for radiation to be removed within a set block radius, either as a one-off or per tick.[3]

Tip: If a machine stalls, check the messages. Chemical requirements tell you when there isn't enough of a chemical, with the amount needed in mB, or when there isn't enough space to store an output.[3]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any crafting recipes, items or quests for this mod in this pack, so there's no verified item to craft first and no recipe to show here. Any machines you see come from the pack's own machine definitions, which these sources don't cover.

How does Custom Machinery Mekanism work?

5 parts

Custom Machinery Mekanism is an addon for Custom Machinery that adds Mekanism integration. It can be used to create a custom machine that can hold, consume or produce Mekanism elements such as gas or infusions. It needs both Custom Machinery and Mekanism installed. The project page lists the features that are currently supported, and a couple more that are only planned (both are covered below).[1]

What a machine can handle

The project page lists these Mekanism features as currently supported:[1]

  • Gas (listed as currently supported, not planned)[1]
  • Infusion types (listed as currently supported, not planned)[1]
  • Pigments (listed as currently supported, not planned)[1]
  • Slurry (listed as currently supported, not planned)[1]
  • Heat and temperature (listed as currently supported, not planned)[1]
  • Radiation (listed as currently supported, not planned)[1]

Laser support and an item-to-infusion slot feature are listed as planned, so don't count on them.[1]

Chemical requirements

Machine recipes can require chemicals as input or output. If a machine doesn't hold enough of a chemical, it shows an error with the chemical's name and the amount in mB it needs. If the output tank is full, it shows a different error saying there isn't enough space to store that amount of the chemical.[3]

Heat

A machine's heat behaviour is set by the values below, all described in the mod's tooltips. Temperatures are in Kelvin.[3]

  • Base temperature: the temperature the machine has when no heat is provided.[3]
  • Capacity: the amount of heat needed to heat the machine up from 1K.[3]
  • Conduction: a coefficient for how much heat can be inserted or extracted. Higher values mean more heat can be extracted but less can be inserted.[3]
  • Insulation: a coefficient for how much heat is lost to the environment. Higher values mean less heat loss.[3]

The heat bar in a machine's GUI also has a minimum and a maximum temperature, which set the range the bar displays.[3]

Radiation

A machine can be set to emit radiation when it is broken while holding a radioactive chemical, so be careful when you pick up a machine that stores one. Recipes can also have a radiation requirement that removes a given radiation amount, or an amount per tick, within a radius measured in blocks.[3]

Scripting

The project page, which lists the currently supported features above, says the addon brings full compatibility with KubeJS and CraftTweaker for creating machine recipes. Laser and item-to-infusion slots remain only planned.[1]

Unverified The sources don't show which machines this pack builds with the addon, what their recipes are, or whether the pack changes any values. No pack configs or recipes for this mod were provided, so check the machines in-game rather than assuming any specific setup.

What changed in Custom Machinery Mekanism between versions?

2 parts

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Custom Machinery Mekanism 1.4.16. The mod was first included in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier.[2]

The notes below come from the mod's own changelogs for versions 1.4.16 and 1.4.15.[4][5]

1.4.16 (the version in this pack)

  • Updated to the latest Custom Machinery version.[4]
  • Updated the PT_BR localization.[4]

1.4.15

  • Fixed a few bugs with the heat component.[5]
  • The heat component "capacity" property now works differently. The changelog describes this as a Mekanism change and points you to the wiki or the in-game editor for details.[5]
  • Added min and max properties for the heat GUI element.[5]
Tip: If you build your own machines with heat, check the "capacity" property of your heat component. Its behavior changed in 1.4.15, and this pack includes the later 1.4.16 release.[2][5]

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as custommachinerymekanism, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
