What is Create: Pattern Schematics?
3 parts
Create: Pattern Schematics is an add-on for Create that adds pattern schematics. These are schematics that repeat, so you don't have to rebuild the same section over and over. The pack includes version 2.0.10 of the mod.[1][2]
What it does
- Repeating existing schematics. You can use a pattern schematic to repeat a build, such as a bridge, to make it longer.[1]
- Building them. You can print a pattern schematic in creative, or put it into a schematicannon to build it.[1]
- Infinite contraption construction. You can place a pattern schematic on a train, a gantry carriage or any other contraption, and it will keep building new iterations of the schematic.[1]
Who it's for
This mod is for you if you already build with Create schematics and want long, repeating structures like bridges, or want a moving contraption that keeps building as it travels.[1]
Where it fits in the pack
Unverified I couldn't confirm where this mod fits in the pack's progression. No sources show quests for it, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. Treat it as an optional building tool rather than a required step.
How do you get started with Create: Pattern Schematics?
5 parts
Pattern schematics are an extended version of Create's schematics. They let contraptions and schematicannons repeat a design multiple times, so you can do things like make a bridge longer by repeating one section. The order below takes you from nothing to a working repeating print.[1][3]
First, make an Empty Pattern Schematic
Everything starts with the Empty Pattern Schematic. In this pack the recipe has been changed, so use the one below and not what you remember from other packs.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
- any iron plate
Paper
- any pink dye
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic
This recipe is changed by the pack.
There is also a second recipe changed by the pack, which uses a paper substitute in place of the paper.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
- any iron plate
- any pattern schematic paper substitute
- any pink dye
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic_from_substitute
Alternative recipe, also changed by the pack.
Second, craft the Pattern Schematic And Quill
Next you turn the empty schematic into the Pattern Schematic And Quill. This one is the mod's own recipe, not changed by the pack.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic_and_quill
The mod's own recipe.
The quill is used for saving a structure in your world to an .nbt file, or for printing it immediately into a pattern schematic.[3]
Third, select and save a structure
- Right-click to pick two corner points. Hold Ctrl and scroll if you need to select locations in mid-air.[3]
- Ctrl-scroll on the faces of the selection to adjust its size, then right-click again to save.[3]
Fourth, upload it and repeat the design
To use a pattern schematic you first need a saved schematic as the source. Then use a schematic table together with an empty pattern schematic, and upload the schematic through the table.[3]
After that, pick the clone tool from the options to repeat the structure. Clones are placed next to each other, and any rotation you set applies to all of them.[3]
- Select the schematic and Ctrl-scroll to clone in the direction you are facing.[3]
- Ctrl+Shift-scroll to clone on the selected surface instead.[3]
Where to go next
You can print in creative, or put the pattern schematic into a schematicannon to build it. Pattern schematics can also go on trains, gantry carriages or other contraptions to keep building copies of the design.[1]
How does Create: Pattern Schematics work?
4 parts
Pattern Schematics adds an extended version of Create's schematic. A normal schematic places a design once. A pattern schematic lets contraptions and schematicannons repeat the design multiple times. Think of making a bridge longer without rebuilding it by hand.[1][3]
The mod works through Create's own tools: the schematic table, schematicannons and contraptions such as assembled deployers, trains and gantry carriages.[1][3]
Saving a structure
Every pattern starts with a saved schematic as its source. The Pattern Schematic And Quill saves a structure from your world to an .nbt file, or prints it straight into a pattern schematic.[3][4]
- Select two corner points with right-click. Hold Ctrl and scroll to pick locations in mid-air.[3]
- Ctrl-scroll on the faces to adjust the size, then right-click again to save.[3]
Printing a pattern
Once you have a saved schematic, use a schematic table with an Empty Pattern Schematic and upload the schematic with the table. The result is a pattern schematic you can repeat.[3][4]
The repeating is done with the clone tool, which you find in the options. It repeats the selected schematic, and there are two ways to use it.[3]
- Select the schematic and Ctrl-scroll to clone in the direction you are currently facing.[3]
- Ctrl+Shift-scroll to clone on the surface you have selected.[3]
Clones are placed next to each other. You can also rotate the schematic, and that rotation applies to every clone.[3]
You can print a pattern directly in creative, or put it into a schematicannon to build it.[1]
Infinite building with contraptions
Pattern schematics can be placed on trains, gantry carriages or any other contraption to build iterations of the schematic over and over. A single pattern schematic can be applied to a group of assembled deployers with Shift + Right Click.[1][3]
In the train example, the schematic is placed as usual. When the train then moves further along, the schematic repeats.[3]
Crafting in this pack
This pack changed the recipe for the empty pattern schematic. The recipe below is the one you get here, so it may differ from the mod's default.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
- any iron plate
Paper
- any pink dye
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic
Pack-changed recipe for the Empty Pattern Schematic.
The pack also changed a second recipe for the same item. It uses an item from a paper-substitute tag that the mod defines instead of paper.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
- any iron plate
- any pattern schematic paper substitute
- any pink dye
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic_from_substitute
Pack-changed alternative using a paper substitute.
The Pattern Schematic And Quill uses the mod's own recipe.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic_and_quill
Mod recipe, not changed by the pack.
How do you progress through Create: Pattern Schematics?
3 parts
Good news: there's no big tier ladder to climb here. In this pack, Create: Pattern Schematics comes down to a short crafting chain. You make an Empty Pattern Schematic first, then turn it into a Pattern Schematic And Quill.[4]
First: the Empty Pattern Schematic
This is your entry point, and the pack has changed its recipe from the mod's version. Use the recipe below as the pack's truth, not what you may remember from other modpacks.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
- any iron plate
Paper
- any pink dye
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic
There's also a second way to get the same item. This variant accepts anything from the mod's paper substitutes item tag, and the pack changed this one too.[4]
Crafting Shapeless
- any iron plate
- any pattern schematic paper substitute
- any pink dye
Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic_from_substitute
Then: the Pattern Schematic And Quill
Once you have an empty schematic, you can craft the Pattern Schematic And Quill. This one is listed as the mod's own recipe, so the pack doesn't change it.[4]

Recipe id: create_pattern_schematics:pattern_schematic_and_quill
What about quests?
Unverified No quests involving this mod were found, so there is no quest-guided progression for it in this pack. Treat the crafting chain above as the whole path.
What changed in Create: Pattern Schematics between versions?
1 part
FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships with Create: Pattern Schematics 2.0.10. The pack file lists it as first included in 1.21.0 or earlier, so you can't tell from the sources exactly which pack release added it.[2]
Mod changelog
- 2.0.10: a fix so the mod works with the latest Create at that time, 6.0.7. This is the only change the mod's changelog lists for this version.[5]
There are no pack changelog entries for this mod, so nothing is recorded about the pack changing how it behaves.[2]
