Applied Experienced is a mod in FTB StoneBlock 4 1.23.0, where it is version 1.3.2. Applied Energistics 2 addon to handle experience (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Applied Experienced?

2 parts

Applied Experienced is an Applied Energistics 2 addon that lets your ME system handle experience. If you already run an AE2 network and want to store XP the same way you store items and fluids, this is the mod for you. The pack includes version 1.3.2.[1][2]

What it adds

  • Experience Storage Cells in 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k and 256k sizes, plus a creative version.[1]
  • Experience Portable Storage Cells in 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k and 256k sizes.[1]
  • An Experience Acceptor that converts XP into AE2 energy, working like the energy acceptor does with FE/RF.[1]
  • Storage bus, export bus and import bus strategies. They let buses read XP from, extract XP to, or import XP from blocks that can handle experience through ExperienceLib.[1]
  • An Experience Converter that turns fluid XP from the #c:experience tag into XP.[1]

The converter and your XP

The converter has a GUI for moving XP between you and the network. You can take 1, 10, 100 or all possible levels from yourself, or give the same amounts from the converter back to you. All of these amounts are based on your current player level.[1]

The conversion ratio is set in the mod's config. The mod's default is 250mB of fluid XP for 1 XP. I can't confirm from my sources whether the pack changes that value, so check the config in your own instance.[1]

Unverified Where this mod fits in the pack's progression is unconfirmed. No quests in the pack involve it, and it is not on the ATM Star path, so treat it as an optional AE2 extra.

How do you get started with Applied Experienced?

5 parts

Applied Experienced is an Applied Energistics 2 addon that lets your ME network handle experience. Every recipe in this pack is built from AE2 parts, so you'll want some AE2 progress first. Here's the order I'd go in.[1][3]

Step one: the cell housing

Start with the ME Experience Cell Housing. It's an ingredient in every experience storage cell and every portable experience cell in this pack, so you'll make it before anything else.[3]

Step two: your first experience cell

Next, combine the housing with an AE2 storage component of the same size. The 1k ME Experience Storage Cell starts from a 1k component. The same pattern works up the tiers: 4k ME Experience Storage Cell, 16k ME Experience Storage Cell, 64k ME Experience Storage Cell and 256k ME Experience Storage Cell.[1][3]

Step three: get experience into the network

The ME Experience Acceptor converts XP into AE2 energy, similar to how the regular energy acceptor works with FE/RF. In this pack it's crafted from a 1k storage component, an AE2 energy acceptor and an experience bottle.[1][3]

If you want it on a cable, you can turn the block into an Experience Acceptor Part with a shapeless recipe. You can also turn the part back into the block.[3]

Step four: take it on the move

Once you have a housing, you can make a portable version such as the 1k Portable Experience Cell. In this pack it needs a matching storage component, an ME Chest, an energy cell and the housing.[1][3]

Later: the Experience Converter

The Experience Converter asks for a 64k ME storage component, so it comes after you have built up your storage. It converts fluid XP from the experience fluid tag into XP. Its GUI lets you take 1, 10, 100 or all possible levels from yourself, or give the same amounts from the converter back to you.[1][3]

Watch out: The mod's own default conversion ratio is 250 mB of fluid per 1 XP, and the ratio is set in the mod's config. That is the mod default, not a value confirmed for this pack.[1]

How does Applied Experienced work?

4 parts

Applied Experienced is an Applied Energistics 2 addon that lets your ME network handle experience. You store XP in dedicated cells, turn it into AE2 energy, and move it around with the buses you already know. This section covers what the sources confirm about how those pieces work.[1]

Experience Converter

The Experience Converter turns fluid XP into actual XP. It accepts fluid from the #c:experience tag.[1]

The pack changes the conversion cost. It uses 140 mB of fluid per XP point ([[config:config/appex-common.toml#Experience Converter.rate]]), while the mod default is 250 mB. That means fluid XP goes further here than in a default install.[1][4]

  • Capacity is 2,147,483,647 XP points, the same as the mod default ([[config:config/appex-common.toml#Experience Converter.capacity]]).[4]
  • The amount of XP given per Bottle o' Enchanting is 1, also the mod default ([[config:config/appex-common.toml#Experience Converter.amount]]).[4]

The converter also has a GUI for moving XP between you and the converter. You can retrieve 1, 10, 100 or all possible levels from yourself, and you can give 1, 10, 100 or all possible levels from the converter to yourself. All of these amounts are based on your current player level.[1]

Storing XP in ME cells

The mod adds ME Experience Storage Cells in 1k, 4k, 16k, 64k and 256k sizes, plus a creative version. It also adds Portable Experience Cells in the same sizes, except the creative one. For example, there are 1k ME Experience Storage Cell and 1k Portable Experience Cell, all the way up to 256k ME Experience Storage Cell and 256k Portable Experience Cell.[1][3]

Every cell starts with the ME Experience Cell Housing. A storage cell combines that housing with the AE2 storage component of the matching size, as a shapeless recipe.[3]

The larger sizes use the same pattern with the matching storage component.

Portable cells use the same housing and storage component. Their recipe also needs an ME Chest and an Energy Cell.[3]

Turning XP into AE2 energy

The ME Experience Acceptor converts XP into AE2 energy. It works like the AE2 Energy Acceptor, which does the same with FE/RF.[1]

There is also a cable version, the Experience Acceptor Part. You can switch between the block and the part by crafting, in either direction.[3]

Automation with buses

Applied Experienced adds XP strategies to the AE2 buses. The storage bus can read blocks that handle experience through ExperienceLib. The export bus can extract XP into such blocks, and the import bus can pull XP out of them.[1]

How do you progress through Applied Experienced?

4 parts

Applied Experienced adds experience storage to your AE2 network. In this pack, the way to progress through it is by crafting, and each tier builds on the AE2 storage component of the same size. The tiers below follow the in-pack recipes.[3]

Unverified The sources here show no quests for this mod, no in-jar guidebook and no reusable documentation, so there is no quest-driven order to follow. This section only covers what the recipes show.

First: the cell housing

Everything storage-related starts with the ME Experience Cell Housing. Every experience cell recipe in the pack uses it, so craft it first.[3]

Experience storage cells, tier by tier

The ME experience storage cells go up through 1k ME Experience Storage Cell, 4k ME Experience Storage Cell, 16k ME Experience Storage Cell, 64k ME Experience Storage Cell and 256k ME Experience Storage Cell. Each one is a shapeless recipe built from the housing plus the AE2 storage component of the same size. You climb the tiers as you get the matching AE2 components.[3]

Portable experience cells

The portable versions follow the same size tiers: 1k Portable Experience Cell, 4k Portable Experience Cell, 16k Portable Experience Cell, 64k Portable Experience Cell and 256k Portable Experience Cell. They are also shapeless recipes. Each one adds an ME Chest and an Energy Cell on top of the housing and the matching-size component.[3]

Acceptor and converter

The ME Experience Acceptor only needs the smallest 1k storage component. The pack has a pair of shaped recipes for it, and both give the same result.[3]

You can also turn the block into the Experience Acceptor Part and back again with shapeless recipes.[3]

How does Applied Experienced work with other mods?

3 parts

Applied Experienced is an addon for Applied Energistics 2, so almost all of its connections in the pack run through AE2. There are no quests that involve the mod, so everything below comes from in-pack recipes and the mod's project page.[1][3]

Applied Energistics 2 storage cells

The experience cells are built on AE2 parts. You make a ME Experience Cell Housing first. Its recipe mixes AE2 and vanilla Minecraft items, including Experience Bottle.[3]

Each ME Experience Storage Cell is a shapeless recipe. You combine the housing with the AE2 storage component of the matching tier, from 1k ME Storage Component up to 256k ME Storage Component. The result is the matching cell, for example 64k ME Experience Storage Cell.[3]

Recipe id: appex:experience_storage_cell_64k

The portable cells, such as 16k Portable Experience Cell, follow the same tier pattern but pull in more AE2 parts. The pack also has a disassembly recipe for every cell, using AE2's storage cell disassembly recipe type.[3]

Getting XP into your network

The ME Experience Acceptor converts XP into AE2 energy. The mod describes it as similar to an energy acceptor that takes FE/RF. Its recipe is built around AE2's Energy Acceptor. The pack has two recipe entries for it, and the sources show the same ingredients for both.[1][3]

The Experience Converter bridges fluid XP and your network. It converts fluid XP from the #c:experience tag into XP, and it also has a GUI where you can take levels from yourself or hand them back. You can move 1, 10, 100 or all possible levels, based on your current level. Its recipe uses an AE2 storage component together with vanilla-style items such as glass panes and planks.[1][3]

Tip: The mod's project page gives a default conversion of 250mB of fluid XP per 1 XP, and says the ratio is set in the config. That is the mod default, so check the pack's own config before you plan a fluid XP setup around it.[1]

Bus strategies and ExperienceLib

The mod adds storage, export and import bus strategies for AE2. They let your buses read XP from, extract XP to, or import XP from blocks that can handle experience through ExperienceLib.[1]

Unverified Which blocks from other mods in this pack work with these bus strategies through ExperienceLib is not confirmed by the available sources.

Which Applied Experienced config options matter?

2 parts

Every config option in Applied Experienced belongs to the Experience Converter, the block that turns fluid XP into XP points. They all live in the common config file, and the pack changes one of them.[1][4]

Conversion rate (changed by the pack)

[[config:config/appex-common.toml#Experience Converter.rate]] sets how many mB of fluid XP the converter needs for each XP point. The mod's default is 250, but this pack sets it to 140, so each XP point costs less fluid than the mod's default.[4]

Tip: The mod's own description says 250 mB = 1 XP. That is the mod default, not what this pack uses. Here it is 140 mB per XP point.[1][4]

Options left at the mod default

  • [[config:config/appex-common.toml#Experience Converter.amount]] is the amount of XP given per Bottle o'Enchanting. The pack leaves it at the default of 1.[4]
  • [[config:config/appex-common.toml#Experience Converter.capacity]] is the converter's capacity in XP points. The pack keeps the default of 2,147,483,647, which is also the top of the range the option accepts.[4]

What changed in Applied Experienced between versions?

3 parts

FTB StoneBlock 4 1.21.0 ships Applied Experienced 1.3.2. The mod has been in the pack since FTB StoneBlock 4 1.0.0 or earlier. Below are the notable changes from the mod's own changelogs, newest first.[2]

1.3.2 (the version in this pack)

  • Added compat with ae2jeiintegration, so you can drag and drop directly from an experiencelib registered stack.[5]
  • Added the same drag and drop compat for EMI.[5]
Watch out: The 1.3.2 changelog says this version is not compatible with any version below 2.0.0 of any addon. It also recommends updating every addon you have.[5]
Tip: If you ever update this mod in an existing world, the changelog recommends backing up first. It also says to break and place your energy, fluid, item and experience hatches so they pick up the new features and fixes.[5]

1.3.1

  • Fixed the export strategy not being calculated correctly.[6]
  • Updated to a new version of experiencelib and fixed all conflicts caused by the updated dependency.[6]

1.3.0 and 1.2.0

Both of these changelogs list the same notes: an update to a new version of experiencelib, plus fixes for all conflicts caused by the updated dependency.[7][8]
