What is Tempad?
1 part
Tempad is a teleportation mod inspired by Marvel's Loki. You travel with temporary portals called timedoors, which you open with a handful of themed items. This pack includes Tempad 3.0.4 for Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2][3]
Everything runs on Chronon, the energy that fuels Tempad's items and machines. You store it in something like the Chronon Cell and make more with generators. The mod's own items include the Tempad, the Timedoor Projector, the Time Twister and the Workstation, which is a block-form version of the Tempad.[1][3]
Where it sits in the quest book
The pack's quest book covers Tempad in the chapter "The Traveler's Quest". It belongs to the "Exploration & Combat" group and is chapter 15 of 31 in the book. The chapter has 38 quests. Most of them are structure-hunting quests, like the Nether Fortress and the Sky Village. The Tempad quests are a connected set among them.[3]
The Tempad line starts with "Welcome to Tempad" quest, which asks you for a Chronon Cell. From there the quests branch out like this:[3]
- "Chronon Generator" quest leads to "Timedoor Projector" quest. The Chronometer quest also comes after the generator.[3]
- "Timedoor Marker" quest leads to "Card Wallet" quest and "Chronomark" quest. The wallet can hold up to 27 Location Cards.[3]
- "Location Broadcaster" quest leads to "Screening Device" quest. It also comes before "Player Teleport Upgrade" quest.[3]
- "Time Steel" quest leads to "Chronon Battery" quest. The battery then leads to "Time Twister" quest, "Tempad" quest and "Chronometer" quest.[3]
- After the Tempad quest comes "Workstation" quest. After that come "Knowledge Repository Upgrade" quest and the Player Teleport Upgrade quest.[3]
- The Chronometer quest is followed by "Metronome" quest, the last step of the Chronon generation line.[3]
How do you get started with Tempad?
5 parts
Tempad is a teleportation mod that uses temporary portals called timedoors to travel between locations. In this pack its quests sit in the chapter "The Traveler's Quest", in the group "Exploration & Combat" (chapter 15 of 31 in the book). The Tempad line starts with the quest "Welcome to Tempad" quest. Here is the order I'd go in.[3]
First: Chronon Cell and Knowledge Projector
Everything in Tempad runs on Chronon, which fuels your items and machines. The first quest asks for a Chronon Cell, a good starting place to store your Chronons. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own.[3][4]

The same quest points you to the Knowledge Projector, which holds all the information on the mod. The pack changed this recipe too, so check the one below.[3][4]

Next: Chronon Generator
Next comes "Chronon Generator" quest. The Chronon Generator passively generates Chronon and charges your Tempad devices while it sits in your inventory. The pack changed this recipe.[3][4]

Then: Location Cards and the Timedoor Marker
The Timedoor Marker is placed on the ground to mark a spot in the world. Right-click it to set its display name, color and access settings. A Location Card registers a marker's data so other devices can use it. The pack changed the Marker recipe, and its cheap card recipe makes 4 cards per craft.[3][4]

Then: Timedoor Projector
With a generator and a marked location, you can make the Timedoor Projector ("Timedoor Projector" quest). It's a crude device that opens timedoors. Sneak to place it on the ground, then insert a Location Card, or use a card on the item while it's in your inventory. Once you have enough Chronon, a non-sneaking use from your hand opens a door. The pack changed this recipe.[3][4]

Finally: Time Steel, Chronon Battery and Tempad
Time Steel is used to craft better versions of your devices and a few new gadgets. The pack changed both of its recipes, the crafting grid one and the Create mixing one, and each makes 2 Time Steel.[3][4]

Time Steel leads to the Chronon Battery. It stores much more Chronon than the Chronon Cell and is an ingredient in some of the more advanced Tempad recipes. The pack changed its recipe.[3][4]

The battery unlocks the Tempad itself. It opens a door to any marked location, lets you add locations from your current coordinates, and lets you pin locations to teleport to with keybinds. The pack changed this recipe as well.[3][4]

How does Tempad work?
7 parts
Chronons: the fuel for everything
Tempad's devices run on Chronons. You generate them, store them, and your carried devices draw on them.[5]
A Chronon Generator is the primitive way to make them. Keep it in your main inventory or a curio slot and it synthesizes Chronons, then spreads them to every carried device or storage cell. That only works if they are all in the main inventory or curio slots. The Chronometer does the same job at a faster rate.[5]

For storage, start with the Chronon Cell. An empty cell charges slowly while you carry it alongside a generating item. A charged cell passes its Chronons on to your other carried devices automatically. The Chronon Battery is built from cells and holds more than a single cell. The pack changed the recipes for both the cell and the battery.[4][5]

Time Steel
Time Steel shows up in many of the pack's recipes, including the Chronometer, the Chronon Battery and the Metronome. The pack gives you two ways to make it, and both produce 2 Time Steel. One is a crafting recipe and the other is a Create mixing recipe. Both were changed by the pack.[4]

The Metronome: a block-form Chronon bank
The Metronome is a placeable block. After placing it, it has to boot first, and the block shows a booting progress message. Once booted, it generates Chronons into its own internal battery.[1][5]
Right-click it to open the interface. Put devices in the left-hand slots to store Chronons in the Metronome, or in the right-hand slots to take Chronons out. The Metronome is coded to your temporal aura, and a lock button in the upper right prevents unauthorized access. It is locked by default.[5]
If you place more Metronomes, they link to your existing ones after booting and form a multiversal network. Their maximum storage adds together, and their charging power combines so each pulse generates more Chronons.[5]

Location data: markers, Chronomarks and cards
Teleporting needs coordinates, and those are stored on Location Card items. The Timedoor Marker generates exact spatial coordinates and provides them to other devices. The Chronomark does the same, with extra options.[5]
- Place the Timedoor Marker or Chronomark where you want the location.[5]
- Right-click it with a Location Card to write the data to the card.[5]
- Use the written card with your devices. Devices automatically list the markers and Chronomarks you own, and written cards can be shared with others.[5]
Right-click a marker or Chronomark with an empty hand to open its interface. On a Timedoor Marker you can set the device name, Timedoor color and security options. The Chronomark adds offsets and more user filtering. Its filters can restrict free access to certain users based on compatible team or guild systems.[5]
Portal placement offsets accept decimals such as 1.3. Positive values place the portal in front of you, to your left, or higher. Negative values place it behind you, to your right, or lower.[5]

Making and clearing cards
In this pack, an iron ingot and a dye make 4 Location Cards. A Time Steel and a dye make 16. The pack changed the 4-card recipe.[4]
A written card can be wiped by putting it in the crafting grid, which lets you reuse it. Timedoor Markers and Chronomarks have the same kind of clean recipe. Cards from other players do not work with every device, and a device that isn't yours tells you it isn't yours and to return it to its owner or reset the item.[4][5]
The Card Wallet stores and manages your cards. Its recipe was changed by the pack.[1][4]

Teleporting to players
The Location Broadcaster lets other players find you. Use it in your hand to toggle it. The screen glows green when teleportation to you is enabled and red when it is disabled. While it is carried in your inventory or a curio slot and turned on, you appear in the list of possible teleports for devices with the Teleport to Players upgrade, which is the Player Teleport Upgrade.[4][5]

Other devices
The Knowledge Projector holds the mod's in-game documentation. The Timedoor Projector is part of the Timedoor setup, and the Tempad is the portable device itself. The pack changed the recipes for all three.[1][4]

How do you progress through Tempad?
6 parts
Tempad's progression sits in the quest chapter "The Traveler's Quest", chapter 15 of 31 in the Exploration & Combat group. That chapter mixes structure-hunting quests with a Tempad line, and the Tempad line starts at "Welcome to Tempad" quest. Every other Tempad quest hangs off it, directly or through a later step.[3]
Tier 1: Chronon and the first tools
Tempad opens temporary portals called timedoors, and they run on Chronon. The first quest asks for a Chronon Cell, which is your starting storage for Chronon. Next comes "Chronon Generator" quest, which asks for a Chronon Generator. It passively generates Chronon and charges your Tempad devices while it sits in your inventory.[3]
The pack changed both of these recipes from the mod's own, so go by what the site shows here.[4]

Tier 2: Markers, cards and your first timedoors
- "Timedoor Marker" quest (after the first quest): you place a Timedoor Marker on the ground to mark a spot. Right-click it to set its display name, color and access. A Location Card registers the marker's data for use in other devices.[3]
- "Timedoor Projector" quest (after the Chronon Generator quest): the Timedoor Projector is a crude timedoor opener. Sneak to place it, insert a Location Card, and with enough Chronon you can open a door.[3]
- "Card Wallet" quest (after the Timedoor Marker quest): the Card Wallet holds up to 27 Location Cards and fits in your pocket.[3]
- "Chronomark" quest (after the Timedoor Marker quest): the Chronomark is an upgraded marker. It adds display offset and rotation angle, and its access can be private, team or everyone.[3]
The pack changed the recipes for the Marker, Projector, Chronomark and Card Wallet. It also changed the cheap card recipe, which makes 4 Location Cards per craft. The mod's own expensive recipe makes 16 per craft.[4]

Tier 3: Time Steel and the Chronon Battery
"Time Steel" quest is the gate to the better gear. Time Steel is used to craft upgraded versions of your devices and a few new gadgets. The pack changed it in two ways: a shaped crafting recipe and a Create mixing recipe, each making 2 Time Steel.[3][4]

"Chronon Battery" quest follows. The Chronon Battery stores much more Chronon than the Cell, and it is an ingredient in some of the more advanced Tempad recipes. The pack changed its recipe too.[3][4]

Tier 4: Tempad, Workstation and Chronon machines
Once you have a Chronon Battery, the quest book opens three branches.[3]
- "Tempad" quest: the Tempad opens a door to any marked location. You can add locations from your current coordinates and pin them to keybinds. Location Cards can register or copy locations in its interface. The pack changed this recipe.[3][4]
- "Workstation" quest (after Tempad): the Workstation is an in-world Tempad device. You dock a Tempad on it to make it work. It adds more options, such as keeping the timedoor open longer, and optional upgrades for your Tempad. The pack changed this recipe.[3][4]
- "Time Twister" quest: the Time Twister records events like deaths and dimension changes, and you can teleport back to them with enough Chronon. It uses the mod's own recipe.[3][4]

For Chronon production, "Chronometer" quest (after the Battery and Generator quests) asks for the Chronometer, a better Generator that produces more Chronon. "Metronome" quest comes after it. The Metronome is the ultimate generator, and you must feed it about 2,000 Chronon to kick-start it. It can act as a Chronon Battery and link to other Metronomes on an internal network. Both use the mod's own recipes.[3][4]

Player teleporting and documentation
"Location Broadcaster" quest asks for the Location Broadcaster, which makes you show up as a teleport location for other players with an upgraded Tempad. "Screening Device" quest follows with the Screening Device, a better Broadcaster that lets you filter who can teleport to you. The pack changed both recipes.[3][4]
"Player Teleport Upgrade" quest needs both the Location Broadcaster and Workstation quests. The Player Teleport Upgrade lets your Tempad discover players with an active Broadcaster or Screening Device. "Knowledge Repository Upgrade" quest comes after the Workstation. The Knowledge Repository Upgrade lets you read all Tempad documentation from your Tempad. Both upgrades use the mod's own recipes.[3][4]

Creative Chronometer
The pack adds its own recipe for the Creative Chronometer. It combines a Chronometer with a Creative Ascension item.[4]
How does Tempad work with other mods?
2 parts
Tempad has very few direct links to other mods in this pack. The one in-pack recipe that connects it to an item from outside the mod is the one for the Creative Chronometer, and the pack adds it itself.[4]
A custom shapeless recipe added by the pack.
The Chronometer is part of that recipe, and in the quest book it comes after the Chronon Battery and Chronon Generator quests. It is a better version of the Chronon Generator that passively produces more Chronon.[3][4]
Where Tempad sits in the quest book
The Tempad quests are in the chapter "The Traveler's Quest", in the group "Exploration & Combat" (chapter 15 of 31). The chapter starts the Tempad line with "Welcome to Tempad" quest, and from there it branches out to "Chronon Generator" quest, "Time Steel" quest and "Tempad" quest.[3]
The same chapter also holds exploration quests that don't ask for Tempad items. "Adventuring Beyond!" quest points you to the Explorer's Compass for finding structures. Others send you to a Nether fortress ("Find a Nether Fortress" quest), a Pyromancer Tower ("Discover a Pyromancer Tower" quest), an Apothecary Hut ("Discover an Apothecary Hut" quest) and the Arcane Library ("Find the Arcane Library" quest). The chapter has 38 quests, and 14 of them are not covered here, so check the quest book for those.[3]
Compatibility the mod advertises
The Tempad project page lists optional compatibility with Cadmus (disabling Timedoors on claimed territories), Argonauts and FTB Teams (filtering teleport options by guild, party or teammates), Jade (extra HUD info for blocks and Timedoors), Dark Mode Everywhere and Curios (dedicated slots with items rendered on the player). This is what the mod itself supports, not a list of what this pack changes.[1]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Tempad?
4 parts
All of the Tempad quests live in a single chapter, "The Traveler's Quest". It sits in the "Exploration & Combat" group and is chapter 15 of 31 in the book. The chapter has 38 quests in total. The rest are mostly structure-hunting and combat quests for other mods, and the Tempad line is described below.[3]
Where it starts
"Welcome to Tempad" quest is the entry point. It asks you to get a Chronon Cell, your first place to store Chronon, the fuel for Tempad items and machines. The quest explains that Tempad uses temporary portals called timedoors to travel between locations.[3]
What unlocks after the welcome
- "Chronon Generator" quest asks for the Chronon Generator, which passively generates Chronon while it is in your inventory.[3]
- "Timedoor Marker" quest asks for a Timedoor Marker and a Location Card. The marker marks a spot in the world, and cards register a marker's data for use in other devices.[3]
- "Location Broadcaster" quest asks for the Location Broadcaster, which shows you as a teleport location to players using an upgraded Tempad.[3]
- "Time Steel" quest asks for Time Steel, used to craft better versions of your devices and a few new gadgets.[3]
Following the branches
From the generator, "Timedoor Projector" quest asks for the Timedoor Projector, which opens timedoors once you load it with a Location Card and have enough Chronon. "Chronometer" quest asks for the Chronometer, a better generator. It needs both the Chronon Generator and Chronon Battery quests done first.[3]
- After the marker: "Card Wallet" quest asks for the Card Wallet, which holds up to 27 Location Cards. "Chronomark" quest asks for the Chronomark, an upgraded marker with display offset, rotation and access settings.[3]
- After the broadcaster: "Screening Device" quest asks for the Screening Device, which lets you filter who can teleport to you.[3]
- After Time Steel: "Chronon Battery" quest asks for the Chronon Battery, which stores much more Chronon than the cell.[3]
The Tempad itself and beyond
The Chronon Battery quest leads on to the Tempad and the Time Twister. "Tempad" quest asks for the Tempad, and "Time Twister" quest asks for the Time Twister, which records events like deaths and dimension changes so you can teleport back to them.[3]
- "Workstation" quest comes after the Tempad quest and asks for the Workstation, an in-world device where you dock your Tempad.[3]
- "Knowledge Repository Upgrade" quest comes after the Workstation and asks for the Knowledge Repository Upgrade, which lets you read all Tempad documentation from your Tempad.[3]
- "Player Teleport Upgrade" quest needs both the Location Broadcaster and Workstation quests. It asks for the Player Teleport Upgrade, which lets your Tempad find players with an active Location Broadcaster or Screening Device.[3]
- "Metronome" quest comes after the Chronometer and asks for the Metronome, the top Chronon generation tool. The quest says you must give it about 2,000 Chronon to start production.[3]
What changed in Tempad between versions?
1 part
FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Tempad 3.0.4. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.3 or earlier, so everything below is already in your game.[2]
Tempad 3.0.4
This is the version you have in the pack. It adds a couple of handy features and fixes several bugs.[2][6]
- New: if a battery is empty, you can shift right click it on a block to take energy from that block.[6]
- New: the Metronome inventory is now accessible with pipes, so you can automate it.[6]
- Fixed: text rendering that looked crunchy and weird.[6]
- Fixed: the Timedoor Projector not opening glitchy portals when it's in your hand.[6]
- Fixed: several missing config entries.[6]
- Fixed: timedoors being chunkloaded forever.[6]
