What is Shrink?
1 part
The pack ships Shrink version 2.0.1.47 (the NeoForge jar), and it has been in the pack since version 1.0.3 or earlier.[1]
Unverified What Shrink actually does in the pack is not confirmed by the sources I have, so I won't guess at its mechanics here.
Where it sits in the quest book
The Aeronautics chapter is chapter 5 of 31 in the Main Questline group, and it has 58 quests. It is about building flying ships: hulls, lift, thrust, stability, controls, docking and armament. None of the quests whose text I can see mention Shrink, so I can't tell you where the book places it.[2]
The other 39 quests in that chapter are told in the quest book itself, so open the chapter in game and read through it.[2]
How do you get started with Shrink?
2 parts
Shrink is a small mod, so your first step is a short one: craft the Personal Shrinking Device. It is a shaped crafting recipe, and the block below shows the exact one this pack uses.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any ender pearl | ||
Recipe id: shrink:shrinking_device
The ender pearl slot accepts any item in the ender pearls tag, not just one kind of pearl.
Check your controls
The mod adds a keybind called Toggle Shrink, listed under its own Shrink category in the controls menu. Open your key bindings after crafting the device so you know which key it is set to.[4]
Capturing a shrunken mob
Once you have a shrunken entity, right-click it with a glass bottle to capture it. The tooltip on an empty bottle reminds you of this, and a filled bottle's tooltip shows what it contains.[4]
How does Shrink work?
3 parts
The sources for Shrink in this pack are small, so this section only covers what they confirm: the Personal Shrinking Device, its keybind and the bottle capture tooltip.[3][4]
The Personal Shrinking Device
The item you work with is the Personal Shrinking Device, called Personal Shrinking Device in game. It comes from Shrink and is crafted in a normal crafting grid with a shaped recipe.[3][4]
Crafting Shaped
| any ender pearl | ||
Recipe id: shrink:shrinking_device
This is the mod's own recipe as it appears in the pack. The ender pearl slot accepts any item from the ender pearls tag.
Toggling shrink with a keybind
The mod adds a keybind called Toggle Shrink, listed under its own Shrink category in your controls screen. Check it there, and rebind it if it clashes with another mod.[4]
Capturing shrunken entities
The mod has a bottle item for capturing. Its tooltip, when empty, says to right-click on a shrunken entity with a glass bottle to capture it. Once a bottle holds something, the tooltip shows what it contains, and it can also show a name in brackets after that.[4]
How do you progress through Shrink?
Shrink doesn't have a tier ladder in this pack. The recipe dump lists a single recipe for the mod: the Personal Shrinking Device. It is a shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself, not a pack override, so there is no step-by-step progression to follow.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| any ender pearl | ||
Recipe id: shrink:shrinking_device
This is the only Shrink recipe in the pack, and it is the mod's own recipe rather than a pack change.
The pack's Aeronautics quest chapter covers hulls, lift, thrust, stability, steering and cannons. It doesn't include this mod, so that chapter gives you no quest steps for it.[2]
Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use Shrink?
The quest material available for this guide is the Aeronautics chapter, which sits in the Main Questline group as chapter 5 of 31 in the book and holds 58 quests. None of the tasks listed in it ask for an item from Shrink, so the sources here show no quest in this pack that involves this mod.[2]
What the chapter does ask for comes from other mods. It opens with "Taking to the Skies" quest, then branches into paths such as "The Hull" quest, "Lift" quest, "Thrust" quest, "Controls" quest, "Stability" quest, "Going Places" quest and "Armament" quest. Their tasks are items from namespaces like aeronautics, simulated, createbigcannons and createpropulsion.[2]
