What is LLamaPalooza?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide
LLamaPalooza is part of this pack. This version ships LLamaPalooza 0.0.5, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (file LLamaPalooza-1.21.1-0.0.5.jar).[1]
It isn't a new addition either. The pack's mod list shows it was already included in version 1.0.1 or earlier, so it has been around for a long time.[1]
Unverified What LLamaPalooza adds to the game (its items, blocks or mechanics) can't be confirmed from the material available for this pack, so this guide doesn't describe its features. No recipes, configs or guidebook entries for it were available either.
How do you get started with LLamaPalooza?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Here's the honest picture for LLamaPalooza in this pack: the information I can confirm is about how Loot Llamas behave, not about a crafting order. There are no recipes for the mod's items and no quests that involve it in the sources I have, so I can't give you a first-items-to-craft list without making it up.[2]
What Loot Llamas do
The mod's settings show that Loot Llamas spit items out at a regular interval. By default, they only do this when a player is within 16 blocks of them. So if you want to see what a Loot Llama gives you, stay close to it.[2]
The mod default for the spit interval is 200 ticks, where 20 ticks equal 1 second. The mod also has Speed upgrade levels, and each level reduces that interval by 20 ticks by default.[2]
Settings worth knowing about
- Always spit: off by default. If it's turned on, Loot Llamas spit items even when no players are nearby.[2]
- Spit interval: the time in ticks between spits. The mod default is 200.[2]
- Speed reduction: the ticks removed per Speed upgrade level. The mod default is 20.[2]
- Tables: the list of loot tables the mod knows about, written as namespace:loot_table_name, for example minecraft:chests/simple_dungeon.[2]
Unverified How to obtain Loot Llamas or Speed upgrades, any crafting recipes for the mod's items, and any quests related to LLamaPalooza are not confirmed by the available sources, so this guide doesn't describe them.
How does LLamaPalooza work?
6 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide
LLamaPalooza has no machines, multiblocks or power to wire up. Everything revolves around one creature, the Loot Llama, which spits items out on a timer. Here is how that works in this pack.[2]
Spitting items
A Loot Llama fires off an item every so often. The gap between spits is set by general.spitInterval, measured in ticks (20 ticks = 1 second). The mod default is 200 ticks, but the pack raises it to 1,200 ticks, so llamas here spit much more slowly.[2][3]
Speed upgrade levels shorten that wait. general.speedReduction is the number of ticks removed per Speed level. The mod default is 20 ticks, and the pack doubles it to 40 ticks per level.[2][3]
Normally a llama only spits when a player is within 16 blocks. The pack turns on general.alwaysSpit (default false), so llamas keep spitting even when nobody is nearby.[2][3]
If you have Jade installed, looking at a llama shows its Spit Cooldown and a Stats line.[2]
Upgrade levels
A Loot Llama has Loot Gain, Loot Speed and Loot Strength levels. The pack leaves every cap at the mod default of 10: llama.maxGain, llama.maxSpeed and llama.maxStrength.[3]
Choosing what a llama spits
Each llama uses a loot table to decide what it spits. general.tables lists the loot tables the mod knows about, and the pack sets it to just ftb:llama_food.[2][3]
The pack adds its own feeding system on top. Right-click a Loot Llama with one of the foods below and it has a chance to switch to the matching loot table. On success you see hearts, a message, and the llama is renamed after the resource. On a failure you get smoke and a red message. If the llama already uses that table, nothing happens.[4]
- Chance 1: Golden Apple switches the llama to the ftb:llama_food table.[4]
- Chance 0.1: Coal, Amethyst Shard and Glowstone Dust. Coal and amethyst use their geore cluster tables, and glowstone uses the vanilla glowstone block table.[4]
- Chance 0.05: Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, Copper Ingot, Lapis Lazuli, Redstone, Quartz and Slime Block. The slime block uses the vanilla slime entity loot table, and the rest use their geore cluster tables.[4]
- Chance 0.01: Diamond and Emerald, both using their geore cluster tables, so these are the hardest to get.[4]
The Llama event
The pack also has a Llama event in its event system. It gives you a warning, then after a short delay spawns a Loot Llama on the ftb:llama_food table somewhere between 2 and 15 blocks from you, with a firework.[5]
The event will not go ahead if there are already 4 or more Loot Llamas within 64 blocks of the spawn point, so you can't stack up llamas this way.[5]
What the mod's own tables hold
The mod ships a general table and an ore table, and the pack's event lists both as command suggestions. The general table is a single roll of dirt (weight 10), logs (weight 8, 1 to 4), gravel (weight 8), cobblestone (weight 8), sand (weight 6) or clay (weight 5, 1 to 4).[5][6]
The ore table is also a single roll. Coal has weight 20, iron 18, copper 15, gold 10, emerald 5 and diamond 4. Lapis and redstone each have weight 8 and quartz has weight 6. Emerald and diamond drop one item at a time, while the other ores drop small stacks.[7]
Killing a llama
A Loot Llama's own death drop is a small amount of leather, and Looting can increase it.[8]
Which LLamaPalooza config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
LLamaPalooza keeps its settings in a common config file, and this pack changes some of the values you are most likely to notice. Here is what each option does and what the pack sets it to.[9]
Values the pack changed
- general.spitInterval is the number of ticks between Loot Llamas spitting items out. The pack sets it to 1,200 instead of the mod default of 200, so your llamas spit far less often.[9]
- general.speedReduction is the number of ticks removed per Speed upgrade level. The pack sets it to 40 instead of the mod default of 20, so each Speed level cuts more time than it would in a default install.[9]
Other options worth knowing
- general.alwaysSpit is set to true in the pack. That means Loot Llamas spit items even when no players are nearby. The config comment lists the default as false, where they only spit when a player is within 16 blocks.[9]
- general.tables is the list of loot tables the mod knows about. The pack's list contains only ftb:llama_food.[9]
Upgrade level caps
The pack leaves the level caps at the mod default of 10. These are llama.maxGain for Loot Gain, llama.maxSpeed for Loot Speed and llama.maxStrength for Loot Strength.[9]
