What is LLamaPalooza?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
LLamaPalooza is part of the mod list in this pack. The pack ships version 0.0.5, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (file LLamaPalooza-1.21.1-0.0.5.jar). It was first included in this pack version or an earlier one.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm what LLamaPalooza adds, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. The sources for this guide don't include a mod description, an in-game guidebook, or any quests or recipes for it, so I'm not guessing. Check back once more information is available. This site does hold FTB Skies 2: Aero's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with LLamaPalooza?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Here's the honest picture for LLamaPalooza in this pack: the information I can confirm is about how Loot Llamas behave, not about a crafting order. There are no recipes for the mod's items and no quests that involve it in the sources I have, so I can't give you a first-items-to-craft list without making it up.[2]
What Loot Llamas do
The mod's settings show that Loot Llamas spit items out at a regular interval. By default, they only do this when a player is within 16 blocks of them. So if you want to see what a Loot Llama gives you, stay close to it.[2]
The mod default for the spit interval is 200 ticks, where 20 ticks equal 1 second. The mod also has Speed upgrade levels, and each level reduces that interval by 20 ticks by default.[2]
Settings worth knowing about
- Always spit: off by default. If it's turned on, Loot Llamas spit items even when no players are nearby.[2]
- Spit interval: the time in ticks between spits. The mod default is 200.[2]
- Speed reduction: the ticks removed per Speed upgrade level. The mod default is 20.[2]
- Tables: the list of loot tables the mod knows about, written as namespace:loot_table_name, for example minecraft:chests/simple_dungeon.[2]
Unverified How to obtain Loot Llamas or Speed upgrades, any crafting recipes for the mod's items, and any quests related to LLamaPalooza are not confirmed by the available sources, so this guide doesn't describe them.
How does LLamaPalooza work?
4 parts
LLamaPalooza's core mechanic is the Loot Llama. A Loot Llama spits items out on a timer, and you decide what it spits by feeding it. The mod also has a Loot Llama Spawn Egg and an Item Spit entity.[3]
How spitting works
The pack changes the timing a lot. general.spitInterval is set to 1,200 ticks, up from the mod default of 200, so your llamas are much slower than in a default install. 20 ticks make 1 second.[3][4]
Each Speed upgrade level on a llama takes ticks off that interval. general.speedReduction is 40 ticks per level here, double the mod default of 20. Speed upgrades are therefore worth more in this pack.[3][4]
general.alwaysSpit is true in this pack, so your llamas keep spitting even when no player is nearby. By default, a llama only spits when a player is within 16 blocks.[3][4]
If you have Jade installed, looking at a Loot Llama shows its Spit Cooldown and a Stats line made of values separated by slashes.[3]
Llama upgrade levels
A Loot Llama has Loot Gain, Loot Speed and Loot Strength levels. llama.maxGain, llama.maxSpeed and llama.maxStrength each cap those levels at 10. That is the same as the mod default, so the pack hasn't changed it. The sources here don't explain how you raise these levels, so I can't tell you that.[4]
Choosing what a llama spits
The pack runs a script that lets you change a Loot Llama's loot table by feeding it. A llama you get from the Llama event starts on the pack's own llama food table. general.tables lists only ftb:llama_food as a table known to the mod.[4][5][6]
Right-click a Loot Llama with one of the foods below. Each food has a chance to work. If it works, you see hearts, get a green message, and the llama is renamed after the food. If it fails, smoke puffs and you get a red message. If the llama already uses that food's loot table, nothing happens.[5]
- Coal, Amethyst Shard and Glowstone Dust: chance 0.1 each.[5]
- Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, Copper Ingot, Lapis Lazuli, Redstone, Quartz, Slime Block and Andesite Alloy: chance 0.05 each.[5]
- Diamond and Emerald: chance 0.01 each, so expect to try many times.[5]
- Golden Apple: chance 1. It sets the llama to the ftb:llama_food table.[5]
Most of the ore foods point to the matching cluster loot table, such as the iron or diamond cluster. Slime uses the vanilla slime entity table, glowstone uses the vanilla glowstone block table, and andesite alloy uses a pack table called ftb:llama/andesite_alloy.[5]
The Llama event
The pack also has an event called Llama that you can toggle on. It spawns a random Loot Llama near you. A warning appears first, and the llama arrives after 140 ticks with a firework burst. It appears between 2 and 15 blocks from you, and the event has a chance setting of 0.6.[6]
Leash the llama before it runs away. If it isn't leashed when its timer ends, it vanishes in a puff of smoke. If 4 or more Loot Llamas are already within 64 blocks of the spawn point, the event fails and no new llama spawns.[6]
The event's suggested loot tables are llamapalooza:resources/general and llamapalooza:resources/ores. If none is given, the llama uses ftb:llama_food.[6]
How do you progress through LLamaPalooza?
3 parts
The sources I have for this mod don't describe a tier ladder. What they show are two pack scripts: one that lets you upgrade what a Loot Llama drops by feeding it items, and one that spawns Loot Llamas as a random event. That upgrade system is the closest thing to progression, so here it is.[5][6]
Upgrading a Loot Llama by feeding it
The pack runs a script that reacts when you interact with a Loot Llama while holding one of the listed food items. Each item points at a loot table and has a chance to work. If the llama already uses that loot table, nothing happens.[5]
On success you get heart particles, a green message, and the llama is renamed after the resource it now produces. On a failed roll you get smoke particles and a red message.[5]
Chances per item
These are the chances the pack's script uses for each feeding attempt, where 1 means it always works.[5]
- Chance 1: Golden Apple sets the llama to the ftb:llama_food loot table.[5]
- Chance 0.1: Coal, Amethyst Shard and Glowstone Dust.[5]
- Chance 0.05: Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, Copper Ingot, Lapis Lazuli, Redstone, Quartz, Slime Block and Andesite Alloy.[5]
- Chance 0.01: Diamond and Emerald, the lowest chances in the script.[5]
Most of the ore options point at cluster loot tables, while slime and glowstone point at the vanilla slime entity and glowstone block loot tables. Andesite alloy uses its own pack loot table.[5]
Where Loot Llamas come from
The pack also has a Llama event with a chance of 0.6. It spawns a Loot Llama near you, between 2 and 15 blocks away, after a warning message. By default the llama uses the ftb:llama_food loot table, unless the event is given a different one. The script suggests llamapalooza:resources/general and llamapalooza:resources/ores as loot table options.[6]
If there are already 4 or more Loot Llamas within 64 blocks, the event counts as a failure and no new llama spawns.[6]
Which LLamaPalooza config options matter?
3 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
LLamaPalooza keeps its settings in a common config file, and this pack changes some of the values you are most likely to notice. Here is what each option does and what the pack sets it to.[7]
Values the pack changed
- general.spitInterval is the number of ticks between Loot Llamas spitting items out. The pack sets it to 1,200 instead of the mod default of 200, so your llamas spit far less often.[7]
- general.speedReduction is the number of ticks removed per Speed upgrade level. The pack sets it to 40 instead of the mod default of 20, so each Speed level cuts more time than it would in a default install.[7]
Other options worth knowing
- general.alwaysSpit is set to true in the pack. That means Loot Llamas spit items even when no players are nearby. The config comment lists the default as false, where they only spit when a player is within 16 blocks.[7]
- general.tables is the list of loot tables the mod knows about. The pack's list contains only ftb:llama_food.[7]
Upgrade level caps
The pack leaves the level caps at the mod default of 10. These are llama.maxGain for Loot Gain, llama.maxSpeed for Loot Speed and llama.maxStrength for Loot Strength.[7]
