IntegratedCrafting is a mod in FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.13.0, where it is version 1.7.2. Craft stuff in Integrated Dynamics networks. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is IntegratedCrafting?

1 part

IntegratedCrafting is the autocrafting add-on for Integrated Dynamics, and this pack includes version 1.6.0 of it. It adds two parts to your Integrated Dynamics network: Part Interface Crafting and Part Crafting Writer.[1][2]

The quest book's setup works like this. You pick a recipe in the Logic Programmer's "Recipe" aspect and save it onto a Variable Card. You then use that recipe inside the crafting interface, with a crafting table placed in front of it.[2]

The Crafting Writer lets your system keep at least 1 of any item you have a recipe for, using the "Craft Item" aspect.[2]

Tip: A Crafting Writer only handles one item at a time. The quest book suggests saving them for your most important items, or things you constantly keep stocked, so you don't fill your base with Writers.[2]

Where it sits in the quest book

IntegratedCrafting has no chapter of its own. Its quests sit inside the "Integrated Dynamics" chapter, which is in the "Tech Mods" group and is chapter 25 of 31 in the book. That chapter has 40 quests.[2]

The rest of the chapter, including everything that leads up to the Storage Terminal quest, is told in the quest book itself.[2]

How do you get started with IntegratedCrafting?

6 parts

IntegratedCrafting adds autocrafting to your Integrated Dynamics networks. In this pack it lives in the Integrated Dynamics chapter of the quest book (Tech Mods group). The autocrafting quest, "Autocrafting With I.D" quest, comes right after "Storage Terminal" quest.[2][3]

What to have first

Before you touch autocrafting, follow the quest book up to the Storage Terminal. You also want "Variable Card" quest and "Logic Programmer" quest done, because recipes are stored on Variable Cards that you fill in using the Logic Programmer.[2]

Step one: the Crafting Interface

Your first item is the Part Interface Crafting. You point it at a machine, like a crafting table or furnace, and it gets bound to that machine. You then insert Variable Cards holding recipes, which tells the network that the machine can craft them. The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, so use the one below.[3][4]

This recipe was changed by the pack.

Step two: give it a recipe

The quest book walks you through the setup, and it goes like this:[2]

  1. Open your Logic Programmer and select the "Recipe" aspect.[2]
  2. Pick the recipe in JEI and click the "+" icon next to it. This fills in the Recipe aspect for you.[2]
  3. If a recipe needs one exact item, such as oak planks instead of any planks, shift-click that item to configure it.[2]
  4. Put a Variable Card in the bottom slot to get an aspect for that recipe, then use it in the Crafting Interface.[2]
  5. Place a crafting table in front of the interface.[2]

The quest also asks for Part Terminal Crafting Job, so make that one alongside the interface.[2]

Step three: the Crafting Writer

Next comes the Part Crafting Writer, which "Crafting Writer" quest covers right after the autocrafting quest. It lets your system stock at least 1 of any item you have a recipe for, using the "Craft Item" aspect. It only handles one item at a time, so save it for the things you constantly keep in stock. Its recipe is the mod's own, not changed by the pack.[2][4]

Step four: the upgraded interfaces

Once the basic interface works, you can upgrade it. The Part Interface Crafting Attuned exposes all recipes of its machine, and the Part Interface Crafting Enumerated is the other upgrade. Both recipes were changed by the pack, and both start from the basic Crafting Interface.[3][4]

Tip: A crafting table alone has hundreds of recipes, so the Attuned interface lets you choose which ones the network may use. Recipes with a green border are enabled, and clicking one disables it. The search field matches recipe names, mod names and recipe ids. Searching for minecraft: and pressing Disable hides every vanilla recipe at once.[3]

Energy use and limits

In this pack's config, the Crafting Interface uses a base of 5 energy per crafting job being processed, and the Attuned and Enumerated interfaces use 10 each. The Crafting Writer uses a base of 1. These are set by general.general.interfaceCraftingBaseConsumption, general.general.interfaceCraftingAttunedBaseConsumption, general.general.interfaceCraftingEnumeratedBaseConsumption and general.general.craftingWriterBaseConsumption.[5]

One interface can queue up to 64 unstarted jobs, set by machine.general.maxPendingCraftingJobs. An Enumerated interface reads at most 4,096 recipes from a list, set by machine.general.maxCraftingInterfaceEnumeratedRecipes.[5]

How does IntegratedCrafting work?

7 parts

IntegratedCrafting lets you craft stuff inside Integrated Dynamics networks. The whole mod revolves around one idea: you bind a part to a machine, tell it which recipes that machine can make, and then the network can ask for those crafts and have them done for you.[3]

The three Crafting Interfaces

The Part Interface Crafting tells the network where and how things can be crafted. You point it at a machine, such as a Crafting Table or a Furnace, and it becomes bound to that machine. Then you open its GUI and insert Variable Cards that hold recipes, which tells the interface those recipes can be crafted with the bound machine.[3]

The Part Interface Crafting Attuned saves you that manual work. It reads and exposes every recipe available in the target machine, the same recipes the Machine Reader lists. Some modded machines may not be supported, and you will see a red border when you place it on one.[3]

The Part Interface Crafting Enumerated takes a single variable holding a list of recipes and exposes every recipe in it. That lets you build the recipe list with logic, for example by pointing the Machine Reader at a machine or by filtering a list of recipes. Infinite lists are not supported. In this pack, machine.general.maxCraftingInterfaceEnumeratedRecipes is 4,096, which is the most recipes read from a list, and setting it to 0 removes the limit.[3][5]

How a crafting job runs

A job can be started with the Part Crafting Writer, for example. One or more Crafting Interfaces that have a matching recipe are then used. All the ingredients the recipe needs are pulled from the network and held inside the job in the interface, so nothing else can use them before the job is done. The interface inserts the inputs into the bound machine, based on the storage network contents provided by Integrated Tunnels interfaces.[3]

Here is the part people miss: a Crafting Interface does not import the results from the machine. Getting the results back into the network is your job. The Crafting Table is the exception, because it only needs the interface. For other machines, either put an active Integrated Tunnels importer on the machine, or let the machine output straight into the interface. Anything inserted into the interface (items, fluids, energy) goes into the storage network on the configured channel.[3]

The interface tracks changes in the storage network and only marks the job as completed once the expected outputs show up there. If a job never finishes, check that the results are actually reaching the network.[3]

Tip: Debugging a stuck job? Start with the output path. The interface waits for the expected outputs to appear in the storage network, so a machine that keeps its results to itself will leave the job open.[3]

Blocking mode and part settings

Blocking mode is enabled by default. The machine then accepts only one recipe at a time and starts the next one only after the previous one has completed. If your machine can process several inputs in parallel, disable blocking mode in the interface's settings GUI. With a multi-amount job, the machine then gets as many inputs as it can process.[3]

Like most Integrated Dynamics parts, the interface lets you set the channel, priority and tick rate. You can also change the target side separately for each ingredient type, which helps when a machine takes items from the sides but fluids from the top.[3]

Managing Attuned recipes

An Attuned interface exposes all recipes of its machine, and a Crafting Table alone accounts for hundreds. So its GUI shows every recipe as a grid of output icons, and you choose which ones the network may use.[3]

  • A green border means the recipe is exposed to the network. Click it to give it a red border and grey it out, so no new crafting job uses it. Click again to bring it back.[3]
  • Hover over a recipe to see its output, its recipe name and the ingredients it needs.[3]
  • Hold the mouse button and drag over recipes to change many at once. The recipe you start on decides whether the drag enables or disables.[3]
  • The search field matches recipe names, mod names and recipe ids. The Enable, Disable and Invert buttons apply to whatever the search currently matches, so searching for minecraft: and pressing Disable hides every vanilla recipe in one go.[3]

Aspects and slot messages

The mod adds Integrated Dynamics write aspects that craft a given item, fluid, energy amount or recipe. It also adds read aspects that list all available recipes, all active crafting jobs as recipes, and all ingredients currently being crafted. A craft delay aspect type makes a craft happen only if an ingredient has been missing from storage for the set duration.[3]

In the interface GUI, each recipe slot tells you whether the variable is usable. You may see messages such as "Recipe is valid for the target.", "Recipe is not acceptable by the target." or "Only %s of %s recipes are acceptable by the target.", and long lists get cut off with a note about how many recipes are used.[3]

Pack settings

These values come from the pack's config file for the mod. Energy use is the base amount for each part.[5]

Crafting the parts

The pack changes the recipes for the three interfaces, while the Crafting Writer keeps its mod recipe. Here are the exact in-pack versions.[4]

How do you progress through IntegratedCrafting?

3 parts

IntegratedCrafting is the autocrafting side of Integrated Dynamics, and in this pack its quests live in the Integrated Dynamics chapter. That chapter is in the Tech Mods group, chapter 25 of 31 in the book, with 40 quests. Two of those quests ask for IntegratedCrafting parts, and both sit at the end of a chain that starts with growing Menril.[2]

The quest path

You can't skip ahead here. You pick up the basics of Integrated Dynamics on the way to autocrafting.[2]

  1. Start with "Welcome to Integrated Dynamics!" quest, where you get a Menril Sapling, grow it, and break it down for Logs and Berries.[2]
  2. Do "Extracting Menril" quest and "Drying Basin" quest, then "Crystallized Menril" quest, which gets you ready for the basics of I.D.[2]
  3. "Networks" quest comes next, then "Interacting With Your Network" quest for attaching interfaces to blocks in the world.[2]
  4. "Storage Terminal" quest follows Interacting With Your Network.[2]
  5. "Autocrafting With I.D" quest comes after the Storage Terminal and asks for the Part Interface Crafting.[2]
  6. "Crafting Writer" quest comes after Autocrafting With I.D and asks for the Part Crafting Writer.[2]

Tier breakdown

The recipe data shows the Crafting Interface, its Attuned and Enumerated variants, and the Crafting Writer. The pack changed every interface recipe, so don't trust recipes you remember from elsewhere. The Crafting Writer uses the mod's own recipe.[4]

The base Part Interface Crafting is the only interface the quest chapter asks for.[2][4]

This recipe is changed by the pack.

The Part Interface Crafting Attuned and Part Interface Crafting Enumerated are the other two interface variants. Both recipes are changed by the pack. None of the quests in the Integrated Dynamics chapter ask for either of them.[2][4]

Setting up your first autocrafter

The Autocrafting quest walks you through the setup. You'll want the Logic Programmer and a Variable Card handy, which the chapter covers in "Logic Programmer" quest and "Variable Card" quest.[2]

  1. Open your Logic Programmer and select the "Recipe" aspect.[2]
  2. Pick your recipe in JEI and click the "+" icon next to it. This fills in the Recipe aspect for you.[2]
  3. If a recipe needs an exact item instead of any variant, shift-click that item to configure it. The options are Strict NBT, Reusable and Item Tag Variants.[2]
  4. Place a Variable Card in the bottom of the interface to get an aspect for that recipe.[2]
  5. Use that recipe inside a Crafting Interface, then put a crafting table in front of it.[2]
Tip: The Crafting Writer keeps at least 1 of an item stocked using the "Craft Item" aspect, but only one item at a time. Save it for your most important items or things you constantly restock, unless you want to fill your entire base with Writers.[2]

How does IntegratedCrafting work with other mods?

2 parts

In this pack, IntegratedCrafting connects mainly to Integrated Dynamics. Every IntegratedCrafting part with an in-pack recipe is crafted from Integrated Dynamics items, either directly or through another IntegratedCrafting part that is.[4]

Recipes that tie the two mods together

The Part Crafting Writer is crafted from an Integrated Dynamics Output Variable Transformer and a vanilla crafting table. This one is listed as a mod recipe, not one the pack changed.[4]

Crafting Shaped

Crafting Shaped
Crafting TableOutput Variable TransformerCrafting Table

Recipe id: integratedcrafting:crafting/part_crafting_writer

The pack has changed the recipe for the Part Interface Crafting. It now uses a Block of Crystallized Menril, an Input Variable Transformer and an Output Variable Transformer from Integrated Dynamics, plus a crafting table and an iron ingot. Keep that in mind if you have seen a different recipe elsewhere.[4]

Changed by the pack.

The pack also changes the recipes for the two upgraded versions of the interface. Both are crafted from the basic crafting interface plus a Block of Crystallized Chorus from Integrated Dynamics. The Part Interface Crafting Attuned adds an emerald, and the Part Interface Crafting Enumerated adds a diamond.[4]

Where it sits in the quest book

The IntegratedCrafting quests live in the "Integrated Dynamics" chapter, in the Tech Mods group (chapter 25 of 31 in the book). That chapter also covers the Menril, Squeezer and Drying Basin basics, and "Crystallized Menril" quest is where you start collecting Crystallized Menril blocks, which the crafting interface recipe uses.[2][4]

"Autocrafting With I.D" quest comes after the Storage Terminal quest. Its tasks are the crafting interface and the crafting job terminal part from Integrated Terminals, so autocrafting here links up with that mod too.[2]

The quest walks you through the setup. You open the Logic Programmer and pick the Recipe aspect, choose a recipe in JEI and click the "+" icon beside it, then put a Variable Card in the interface to get an aspect for that recipe. You then use that aspect in a crafting interface, with a crafting table placed in front of it.[2]

"Crafting Writer" quest follows right after. It says the Crafting Writer lets your system keep at least 1 of any item you have a recipe for, using the "Craft Item" aspect. It only handles one item at a time, so save Writers for the things you stock constantly.[2]

Tip: The intro quest, "Welcome to Integrated Dynamics!" quest, recommends the guidebook On The Dynamics of Integration if you get stuck on the more complex mechanics.[2]

The chapter has 30 more quests that are not covered here. Check the quest book for what they say.[2]

Which FTB Skies 2: Aero quests use IntegratedCrafting?

2 parts

This mod has no chapter of its own in the pack. Both of its quests sit in the Integrated Dynamics chapter, which is in the Tech Mods group (chapter 25 of 31 in the book) and holds 40 quests. There are two of them, and you do them back to back.[2]

The two quests

"Autocrafting With I.D" quest is the one that teaches you autocrafting. Its tasks are to obtain Part Interface Crafting and a crafting job terminal part from Integrated Terminals. The quest text walks you through the setup: open your Logic Programmer, pick the "Recipe" aspect, choose a recipe in JEI and click the "+" icon next to it to fill the aspect in automatically.[2]

After that, you can Shift-click a specific ingredient to configure it. The quest explains three options: Strict NBT for things like armor or energy storage blocks, Reusable for recipes that don't consume a resource, and Item Tag Variants for picking a specific item via NBT tags. Once the recipe is configured, you place a Variable Card in the bottom slot to get an aspect for that recipe. You then use that recipe inside a Crafting Interface and put a crafting table in front of it.[2]

"Crafting Writer" quest comes right after and asks for Part Crafting Writer. A Crafting Writer lets your system keep at least 1 of any item you have a recipe for in stock, using the "Craft Item" aspect. It only handles one item at a time, so the quest suggests saving it for your most important items or the ones you constantly stock.[2]

Order in the quest line

Here is the chain of quests leading up to these two, following the prerequisites the quest book lists:[2]

  1. "Welcome to Integrated Dynamics!" quest: the chapter's starting quest, which asks you to get a Menril Sapling, grow it, and break it down for Logs and Berries.[2]
  2. "Extracting Menril" quest and "Drying Basin" quest: both come after the first quest.[2]
  3. "Crystallized Menril" quest: unlocked once both of those are done.[2]
  4. "Networks" quest: comes after Crystallized Menril.[2]
  5. "Interacting With Your Network" quest: comes after Networks.[2]
  6. "Storage Terminal" quest: comes after Interacting With Your Network.[2]
  7. "Autocrafting With I.D" quest: comes after the Storage Terminal quest.[2]
  8. "Crafting Writer" quest: comes after Autocrafting With I.D.[2]
Tip: The autocrafting quest sends you into the Logic Programmer and has you use a Variable Card. Those have their own quests, "Logic Programmer" quest and "Variable Card" quest, so read them if the recipe steps feel unfamiliar.[2]

Which IntegratedCrafting config options matter?

5 parts

All of the options for this mod live in one file, config/integratedcrafting-common.toml. Here is how the pack sets the ones you are most likely to care about.[5]

Energy use

These options control how much energy the crafting blocks use. For the interfaces, the value is per crafting job being processed.[5]

Job limits and update speed

Tip: The enumerated interface updates less often (20 ticks against 5) because reading a list of recipes is more expensive than reading a single recipe.[5]

Duration estimates

Crafting interfaces remember how long recipes took, so they can estimate the duration of crafting jobs. machine.general.craftingInterfaceRecipeDurationEntries is 32, the number of recipes an interface remembers durations for. Set it to 0 to turn off recipe-specific estimations.[5]

machine.general.craftingInterfaceRecipeDurationMaxAge is 144,000 ticks. After that long, a measured duration is forgotten so estimates follow changes to your network. Set it to 0 to never forget them.[5]

Recipe validation

machine.general.validateRecipesCraftingInterface is true, so the crafting interface validates recipes when they are inserted. machine.general.logRecipeValidationFailures is also true, so every recipe validation failure in crafting interfaces is written to the server logs.[5]

Analytics and version checking

core.general.analytics is true, which allows an anonymous mod startup analytics request to be sent to the mod's analytics service. core.general.versionChecker is false, so the version checker is off.[5]
