What is Forgiving Void?
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Forgiving Void is part of the pack's mod list. The pack ships version 21.1.7, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]
That's all I can confirm from the pack files. There's no in-jar guidebook and no platform page I could pull a description from, so I won't guess at its exact behavior, its settings or who benefits most from it.[1]
Unverified What Forgiving Void does in this pack, its config options and its place in the progression are unconfirmed. It also isn't confirmed to appear on the ATM Star path or in any quest, and no sources show a recipe or item for it.
How do you get started with Forgiving Void?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Forgiving Void is a safety-net mod. When you fall into the void, it doesn't let you die right away. It sends you back up toward the sky so you can fall again. You don't have to craft anything to get started with it.[2]
Unverified No recipes or quests for this mod were found in this pack's data, so there is no first item to craft and no quest to complete for it. The pack's actual config values for Forgiving Void are also unconfirmed, so check the config file in your own instance before relying on any specific behavior.
What happens when you fall
Forgiving Void triggers once you drop a set distance below the world's minimum y level (the triggerAtDistanceBelow option). You then reappear at a set height (fallingHeight) and fall back down. By default the mod places you above your current position. If returnToLastGrounded is set to true, it sends you to the sky above the last place you stood on solid ground. That setting stops players from using the mod to fly across large distances.[2]
Options worth knowing about
- damageOnFall sets how much damage you take when you land, and damageOnFallMode decides how it is measured: ABSOLUTE (half hearts), RELATIVE_CURRENT (a percentage of your current health) or RELATIVE_MAX (a percentage of your max health).[2]
- preventDeath limits the landing damage so you keep at least 0.5 hearts.[2]
- fallThroughVoidEffects applies potion effects when you fall through the void, written in the format effect|duration|amplifier.[2]
- triggerInOverworld, triggerInNether and triggerInEnd can each be set to false to turn the mod off in that dimension's void.[2]
- dimensionAllowList and dimensionDenyList let you choose dimensions by id. The triggerIn options take priority over both lists, and the deny list is ignored if an allow list is set.[2]
- entityAllowList lets you choose which entities are covered, though on Forge only living entities are supported. tridentForgiveness covers tridents with loyalty but isn't supported on Forge.[2]
How does Forgiving Void work?
4 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.4 guide
Forgiving Void has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling. It adds no items or recipes of its own. It changes what happens when you fall into the void: instead of dying, you get sent back toward the sky and fall again. Everything below comes from the mod's own option descriptions.[2]
Where it triggers
There is a separate on/off option for each vanilla dimension: triggerInOverworld (dimension 0), triggerInNether (dimension -1) and triggerInEnd (dimension 1). Setting one to false stops Forgiving Void from working in that dimension's void.[2]
For other dimensions, you can use dimensionAllowList or dimensionDenyList. The allow list is a list of dimension ids where the mod is permitted. The deny list adds more dimensions to exclude, and it is ignored if the allow list is set. The per-dimension options like triggerInOverworld take priority over both lists.[2]
The entityAllowList option takes entity ids that Forgiving Void should also apply to. On Forge it only supports living entities.[2]
What happens when you fall
The triggerAtDistanceBelow option sets how far below the world's minimum y level the mod catches you and sends you back toward the sky. The fallingHeight option sets the height you start falling from after being sent up.[2]
By default the mod puts you in the sky above where you fell. If returnToLastGrounded is true, it uses the sky above your last grounded position instead. That stops players from using the void to fly across large distances.[2]
Fall damage and effects
- damageOnFall is the amount of damage you take when you land.[2]
- damageOnFallMode decides how that amount is read. ABSOLUTE is fall damage in half hearts, RELATIVE_CURRENT is a percentage of your current health, and RELATIVE_MAX is a percentage of your max health.[2]
- preventDeath limits the damage so you keep at least 0.5 hearts after a void fall.[2]
- fallThroughVoidEffects applies potion effects when you fall through the void, written in the format effect|duration|amplifier.[2]
Server and compatibility notes
If players rubber-band while falling through the void, set disableVanillaAntiCheatWhileFalling to true. On a public server, only do that if you have proper anti-cheat installed.[2]
The tridentForgiveness option makes tridents with loyalty get caught by Forgiving Void too. It is not supported on Forge.[2]
Unverified The default values of these options and the values this pack uses are not confirmed by the available sources, so check the in-game config before relying on any specific number.
Which Forgiving Void config options matter?
3 parts
Forgiving Void is set up in one file, config/forgivingvoid-common.toml. Here are the options you are most likely to care about, with the values this pack uses.[3]
Where and when it triggers
- triggerAtDistanceBelow is 40. This is the distance to the minimum y level at which the mod forgives you and sends you towards the sky.[3]
- triggerInOverworld, triggerInNether and triggerInEnd are all true, so the void is forgiving in the Overworld, the Nether and the End.[3]
- dimensionAllowList and dimensionDenyList are both empty. The Overworld, Nether and End trigger options take priority over them, and the deny list is ignored if the allow list is set.[3]
- entityAllowList contains only minecraft:player, so the player is the one it is set up for.[3]
What happens when you fall
- fallingHeight is 320. That is the height you fall from after dropping through the void.[3]
- damageOnFall is 5 and damageOnFallMode is "ABSOLUTE", so you take 5 in half hearts when you land. The other modes are RELATIVE_CURRENT (a percentage of your current health) and RELATIVE_MAX (a percentage of your max health).[3]
- preventDeath is true. It limits the damage so you keep at least 0.5 hearts.[3]
- fallThroughVoidEffects is ["minecraft:slow_falling|60|3"]. The format is "effect|duration|amplifier", so you get slow falling with a duration of 60 and an amplifier of 3 while you drop.[3]
- returnToLastGrounded is false. You come back in the sky above your current position, not above your last grounded position. Setting it to true would stop players using the mod to fly across larger distances.[3]
Other options
- disableVanillaAntiCheatWhileFalling is true. The file says to use it if players are rubber-banding while falling through the void, and that on a public server you should only do this with proper anti-cheat installed.[3]
- tridentForgiveness is false. When true, tridents with loyalty are affected by the mod, but the file notes this is not supported on Forge.[3]

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as forgivingvoid, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
