What is Colorful Allays?

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide

Colorful Allays is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 1.21.1-1.0.0 of it (file colorfulallays-1.21.1-1.0.0.jar), and it has been there since pack version 1.7.0 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the pack.[1]

Unverified The pack's sources don't describe what Colorful Allays adds or changes in the game, so this guide doesn't list its features. Check the mod in-game before relying on any particular behavior.

How do you get started with Colorful Allays?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide

Colorful Allays doesn't give you a crafting order to follow. I can't confirm any recipes or items for it in this pack, so there's nothing to craft first. What the pack does confirm is how Allays are meant to appear, and that's all in the config.[2]

Natural spawning is off

This pack sets spawning.enableNaturalSpawning to false, so Allays don't spawn naturally in the world. Waiting for a colored Allay to wander past won't get you anywhere unless that option is switched on.[2]

Also, spawning.enableInteractionPersistence is false in the pack. That option would make naturally spawned Allays persistent once you interact with them, but it's switched off.[2]

If you turn spawning on

The rest of the spawn settings are already filled in, so flipping the switch gives you a working setup. The pack uses a spawn weight of 5 in spawning.naturalSpawnWeight, where higher is more common and 0 disables it. Groups range from 1 in spawning.naturalSpawnMinGroup to 2 in spawning.naturalSpawnMaxGroup.[2]

Colors are picked at random, because colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true. Each color has its own weight, and these are the pack's values:[2]

Unverified Recipes, quests and in-game descriptions for Colorful Allays could not be confirmed from the pack data, so there is no confirmed first item to make. This site does hold FTB Skies 2: Aero's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Colorful Allays work?

3 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide

Colorful Allays doesn't add machines, multiblocks or anything that handles power, fluids or items, at least nothing the available sources describe. What the sources do cover is how Allays spawn naturally and how they get a color, so that's what this section is about.[2][3]

Natural spawning

The mod's own data adds Allay spawns to every biome in the #colorfulallays:allay_spawn_biome tag. As shipped in the jar, that entry uses a weight of 10 and a group size of 1 to 3.[3]

The pack has its own settings in the common config. Natural spawning is switched off here: spawning.enableNaturalSpawning is false. You shouldn't expect Allays to turn up in the world on their own.[2]

The rest of the spawn settings are also set in the pack's config, and some differ from the jar's data file. They only matter if you turn natural spawning on.[2][3]

Interaction persistence

spawning.enableInteractionPersistence makes naturally spawned Allays persistent once a player interacts with them. The pack sets it to false, so interacting with one doesn't make it persistent.[2]

Random colors

colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true in the pack. That means a random color is assigned when Allays spawn naturally. Each color has its own weight in the config.[2]

Tip: If you want wild Allays in your world, set enableNaturalSpawning to true in config/colorfulallays-common.toml. Until then, the random color settings only apply to Allays that spawn naturally, and the pack has that turned off.[2]

How do you progress through Colorful Allays?

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide

There is no crafted progression ladder to climb for this mod. What the pack data confirms is how you get allays in the first place: they spawn naturally in the world.[3]

The mod adds regular allays to the spawn list of every biome in its allay spawn biome tag. Each spawn entry has a weight of 10 and comes in groups of 1 to 3.[3]

Tip: Since allays arrive through natural spawning, exploring the biomes in that tag is how you find them. Look for groups of up to 3 at a time.[3]

Unverified No tiers, quests or crafting recipes for this mod are confirmed in the sources, so there is no step-by-step tier breakdown to show here.

Which Colorful Allays config options matter?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Everything for Colorful Allays lives in one file, config/colorfulallays-common.toml. There are only a few options, and the most important one is already decided for you: in this pack, Allays don't spawn naturally.[4]

Natural spawning

spawning.enableNaturalSpawning is set to false in this pack. So you won't stumble across wild Allays unless you switch it on yourself.[4]

Tip: The group size and weight options only matter once natural spawning is enabled. If you want wild Allays in your world, turn on the spawning option first and then tune the rest.[4]

Colors

colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true. The file says this gives Allays a random color when they spawn naturally. Each color has its own weight value in this pack:[4]

Unverified The file doesn't say how the color weights are applied, and it doesn't list the mod's default values. So it's unconfirmed which of these settings the pack changed from the mod defaults.
