What is Colorful Allays?
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Colorful Allays is included in this pack as version 1.21.1-1.0.0, shipped as the file colorfulallays-1.21.1-1.0.0.jar. It was already in the pack by the 1.22.0 release at the latest, so you can count on it being there.[1]
Unverified What the mod adds, who it is aimed at, and where it fits in the pack's progression could not be confirmed from the available sources. There is no mod description, guidebook, or platform page to draw on. No quests or ATM Star path entries were found for it either, so this guide doesn't claim any recipes, items, or mechanics for it.
How do you get started with Colorful Allays?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.23.0 guide
Colorful Allays doesn't give you a crafting order to follow. I can't confirm any recipes or items for it in this pack, so there's nothing to craft first. What the pack does confirm is how Allays are meant to appear, and that's all in the config.[2]
Natural spawning is off
This pack sets spawning.enableNaturalSpawning to false, so Allays don't spawn naturally in the world. Waiting for a colored Allay to wander past won't get you anywhere unless that option is switched on.[2]
Also, spawning.enableInteractionPersistence is false in the pack. That option would make naturally spawned Allays persistent once you interact with them, but it's switched off.[2]
If you turn spawning on
The rest of the spawn settings are already filled in, so flipping the switch gives you a working setup. The pack uses a spawn weight of 5 in spawning.naturalSpawnWeight, where higher is more common and 0 disables it. Groups range from 1 in spawning.naturalSpawnMinGroup to 2 in spawning.naturalSpawnMaxGroup.[2]
Colors are picked at random, because colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true. Each color has its own weight, and these are the pack's values:[2]
- Light blue is the most common at 15 (colors.weights.lightBlue), then white at 10 (colors.weights.white).[2]
- Blue, orange, pink and yellow all sit at 8 each.[2]
- Black is the rarest at 3 (colors.weights.black), followed by brown at 4 (colors.weights.brown).[2]
Unverified Recipes, quests and in-game descriptions for Colorful Allays could not be confirmed from the pack data, so there is no confirmed first item to make. This site does hold FTB StoneBlock 4's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How does Colorful Allays work?
2 parts
Colorful Allays doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling that I can confirm. What the pack's files do show is how Allays spawn and how they get their colors, so that's what this section covers.[3]
Natural spawning
In this pack, natural Allay spawning is switched off. spawning.enableNaturalSpawning is set to false, so you won't find these Allays wandering the world on their own.[3]
The other spawn settings are still in the config, but they only matter if natural spawning gets turned on:[3]
- spawning.naturalSpawnMinGroup is 1 and spawning.naturalSpawnMaxGroup is 2, so a natural group would be one or two Allays.[3]
- spawning.naturalSpawnWeight is 5. Higher means more common, and 0 disables it.[3]
- spawning.enableInteractionPersistence is false. When enabled, it makes naturally spawned Allays persistent once a player interacts with them. Here that never applies.[3]
The pack's biome tag script also touches the colorfulallays:allay_spawn_biome tag, but it gives that tag an empty list, so the pack adds no biomes to it.[4]
Color assignment
colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true. When an Allay spawns naturally, it gets a random color. Each color has a weight, and a higher weight makes that color more likely.[3]
These are the weights the pack uses:[3]
- Light blue is the most common at 15 (colors.weights.lightBlue), followed by white at 10 (colors.weights.white).[3]
- Blue, orange, pink and yellow all sit at 8 (colors.weights.blue, colors.weights.orange, colors.weights.pink, colors.weights.yellow).[3]
- Light gray, lime and red are at 7 (colors.weights.lightGray, colors.weights.lime, colors.weights.red).[3]
- Cyan, green and magenta are at 6 (colors.weights.cyan, colors.weights.green, colors.weights.magenta).[3]
- Gray and purple are at 5 (colors.weights.gray, colors.weights.purple).[3]
- Brown is at 4 (colors.weights.brown), and black is the rarest at 3 (colors.weights.black).[3]
Unverified How you recolor an Allay by hand, and whether any items or interactions are involved, couldn't be confirmed from the available sources.
How do you progress through Colorful Allays?
There is no tier ladder to climb with Colorful Allays in this pack. The only pack-level change I can confirm is in a worldgen script: it registers the biome tag colorfulallays:allay_spawn_biome and gives it an empty list of biomes.[4]
The same script fills in tags for the pack's own biome layers (stone, deepslate, nether, end, ocean, Twilight Forest and void chasms), but none of them are added to the allay spawn tag.[4]
Unverified How you actually get allays in this pack, and whether the empty spawn biome tag affects natural spawning, is not confirmed. Don't plan a progression around it until you've tested it in your own world.
Which Colorful Allays config options matter?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Everything for Colorful Allays lives in one file, config/colorfulallays-common.toml. There are only a few options, and the most important one is already decided for you: in this pack, Allays don't spawn naturally.[5]
Natural spawning
spawning.enableNaturalSpawning is set to false in this pack. So you won't stumble across wild Allays unless you switch it on yourself.[5]
- spawning.naturalSpawnMinGroup is 1 and spawning.naturalSpawnMaxGroup is 2, so natural groups would be one or two Allays.[5]
- spawning.naturalSpawnWeight is 5. The file describes it as higher meaning more common, and 0 meaning disabled.[5]
- spawning.enableInteractionPersistence is false. If you enabled it, naturally spawned Allays would become persistent when a player interacts with them. As things stand, that doesn't happen.[5]
Colors
colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true. The file says this gives Allays a random color when they spawn naturally. Each color has its own weight value in this pack:[5]
- Light blue is the highest at 15 (colors.weights.lightBlue), followed by white at 10 (colors.weights.white).[5]
- Blue, orange, pink and yellow are all 8: colors.weights.blue, colors.weights.orange, colors.weights.pink and colors.weights.yellow.[5]
- Light gray, lime and red are all 7: colors.weights.lightGray, colors.weights.lime and colors.weights.red.[5]
- Cyan, green and magenta are all 6: colors.weights.cyan, colors.weights.green and colors.weights.magenta.[5]
- Gray and purple are 5: colors.weights.gray and colors.weights.purple.[5]
- Brown is 4 (colors.weights.brown) and black is the lowest at 3 (colors.weights.black).[5]
Unverified The file doesn't say how the color weights are applied, and it doesn't list the mod's default values. So it's unconfirmed which of these settings the pack changed from the mod defaults.
