What is Ars Sable?

2 parts

Ars Sable is a small compatibility mod that makes Ars Nouveau work properly with Sable sublevels, the moving structures you build with Aeronautics. If you want to bring your magic setup onto an airship, this is the mod that stops things from breaking. The project page calls it a work in progress, so expect some rough edges.[1]

What it changes

  • Starbuncles can path to blocks that sit on a Sable sublevel.[1]
  • When you enter and exit a planarium, you are put back on the sublevel.[1]
  • Source and relays can operate between sublevels and the real world.[1]
  • Warp portals and scrolls restore you onto the sublevel if they are bound to it.[1]
  • Rendering fixes for blocks, particles and entities.[1]

In this pack

This pack includes Ars Sable 1.1.2, and it has been part of the pack since version 1.0.3 or earlier. It adds no items or recipes that I can confirm from the sources, so there is nothing to craft. It works in the background once Ars Nouveau and Sable are both in play.[1][2]

How do you get started with Ars Sable?

1 part

Ars Sable is a compatibility mod, so there is no starter item to craft or first machine to build with it. It links Ars Nouveau with Sable sublevels (the moving structures from Sable and Aeronautics), and you get its benefits by playing Ars Nouveau as usual.[1]

The project page says the mod is currently a work in progress, so expect some rough edges.[1]

What it changes for you

  • Starbuncles can path to blocks that sit on a Sable sublevel.[1]
  • Entering and exiting a planarium puts you back on the sublevel you came from.[1]
  • Source and relays can work between sublevels and the real world.[1]
  • Warp portals and scrolls bring you back onto the sublevel if they are bound to it.[1]
  • There are rendering fixes for blocks, particles and entities.[1]
Tip: Build your Ars Nouveau setup the way you normally would. If you put parts of it on a sublevel, such as a Starbuncle's destination, a relay or a warp portal binding, the mod is what lets them keep working.[1]

Unverified The recipes, quests and config options this pack uses for Ars Sable could not be confirmed from the available sources, so this guide gives no crafting order for it.

How does Ars Sable work?

1 part

Ars Sable is a compatibility mod for Ars Nouveau and Sable sublevels (Sable/Aeronautics). The project page currently describes it as a work in progress, so expect rough edges.[1]

What the compat covers

  • Starbuncles can path to blocks that sit on a Sable sublevel, so your little helpers can reach things on a moving structure.[1]
  • Source and relays can operate between sublevels and the real world, so your Source network doesn't have to stop at the edge of a sublevel.[1]
  • When you enter or exit a planarium, you are restored back onto the sublevel.[1]
  • Warp portals and scrolls put you back onto the sublevel if they are bound to it.[1]
  • Rendering fixes for blocks, particles and entities.[1]
Tip: If you want Source to flow between your base and a sublevel, use relays. That is the connection the mod explicitly supports.[1]

The sources don't go into more detail, such as ranges, Source rates or how to set up Starbuncle automation on a sublevel, so I'm not going to guess at those.[1]

What changed in Ars Sable between versions?

1 part

FTB Skies 2: Aero 1.10.0 ships Ars Sable 1.1.2. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.3 or earlier, so it's been part of Aero for a good while.[2]

Ars Sable 1.1.2

This is the version you're running, and the mod's changelog lists two changes:[2][3]

  • Planariums now persist their bound connections between sublevel assembly. Connections you've set up are kept when a sublevel is assembled.[3]
  • Fixed warp portals and scrolls sending you to the wrong location when the sublevel is unloaded.[3]

Unverified No pack changelog entries for Ars Sable could be confirmed, and no mod changelogs for versions before 1.1.2 were available, so earlier changes to the mod are not covered here.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as ars_sable, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
