What is Simple Inventory Sorter?
Simple Inventory Sorter is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 24.0.20, in the file inventorysorter-1.21-24.0.20.jar. It has been included since version 1.0.1 of the pack or earlier.[1]
Unverified I can't confirm what the mod does in this pack. That covers its features, controls, config options and who it is best suited to. I also have no confirmed information on where it fits in progression. No quests or recipes involving it are documented here, and it is not on the ATM Star path. Check the in-game behaviour before relying on any of this.
How do you get started with Simple Inventory Sorter?
2 parts
Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide
Good news: Simple Inventory Sorter doesn't ask you to craft anything to get going. The sources I have for this mod list no items or recipes to make first, so there is no recipe block in this section.[2]
What the mod gives you is a set of inventory-handling features, each described as a module that can be enabled or disabled. Knowing what they are helps you spot them in your first containers.[2]
What the mod can do
- Inventory sorting: the mod has an inventory sorting module that can be switched on or off.[2]
- Move all items with the spacebar: a separate module, which can also be enabled or disabled.[2]
- Move a single item with the mouse wheel: scrolling can move an item, and this is its own module too.[2]
- Wheel item to cursor: the mod adds a key binding with this name, so check your controls menu to see or change it.[2]
If a container won't sort
The mod has a container debug option. When it's on, the mod creates log messages whenever a container is being sorted. The stated purpose is to help compile a blacklist, so it's handy if a particular container misbehaves.[2]
Unverified The exact controls that trigger sorting, the default state of each module, the config file and option names, and whether the pack changes any of these settings are not confirmed by the available sources. No quests or in-pack recipes for this mod were found either.
How does Simple Inventory Sorter work?
3 parts
Simple Inventory Sorter doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling that the sources describe. It works inside your inventory and container screens, and in this pack its behaviour comes down to a few toggleable modules plus a pair of blacklists. That is all the sources cover, so that is what this section explains.[2][3][4]
The modules
The mod's tooltips describe features that can each be switched on or off. Middle-click sorting is the inventory sorting module. Mouse-wheel moving lets you scroll to move an item. The spacebar module moves all items.[2]
- Sorting: this is the middle-click inventory sorting module. In this pack it is enabled through modules.sortingmodule.[2][3]
- Wheel moving: scrolling the mouse wheel moves an item. In this pack it is enabled through modules.wheelmovemodule.[2][3]
- Move everything: the spacebar module moves all items. The tooltip describes it as a module that can be enabled or disabled.[2]
The mod also has a key binding named "Wheel item to cursor".[2]
Mouse Tweaks compatibility
The pack leaves modules.dodgemousetweaks enabled. The config comment says it exists to avoid conflicts with mousetweaks wheel moves.[3]
Blacklists
The server config has a container blacklist and a slot blacklist, and the pack fills in both. The mod also has a container debug option that creates log messages when a container is being sorted, which its tooltip says is there to aid in blacklist compilation.[2][4]
The pack's blacklists.containerBlacklist contains these entries: occultism:ritual_satchel_t2, occultism:ritual_satchel_t1, ftbstuff:water_strainer, curios:curios_container, titanium:addon_container and mysticalagriculture:harvester.[4]
The pack's blacklists.slotBlacklist is a list of slot classes rather than containers. It covers Ender IO machine slots, including ghost and preview slots, the enchanter output slots and the item and fluid filter slots. It also covers Sophisticated Core slots for storage, storage upgrades, filter logic and supplied handlers.[4]
Which Simple Inventory Sorter config options matter?
2 parts
Simple Inventory Sorter has very few settings, and they split into two files. The client file turns the mod's three features on or off for you, and the server file lists the containers and slots the sorter must leave alone.[3][4]
Client modules
In config/inventorysorter-client.toml, the pack leaves all three modules enabled.[3]
- modules.sortingmodule is true. This is the sorting feature itself.[3]
- modules.wheelmovemodule is true. This is the wheel move module.[3]
- modules.dodgemousetweaks is true. Its comment says it avoids conflicts with mousetweaks wheel moves, so leave it on if you use wheel moves from that mod.[3]
Server blacklists
The server file has two blacklists. They keep the sorter away from menus and slots where rearranging items would break something, such as filters, ghost slots and special machine slots.[4]
blacklists.containerBlacklist is set to occultism:ritual_satchel_t2, occultism:ritual_satchel_t1, ftbstuff:water_strainer, curios:curios_container, titanium:addon_container and mysticalagriculture:harvester. Those containers are not sorted.[4]
blacklists.slotBlacklist works on slot types, using Java class names. In this pack it covers several Ender IO machine slots: the enchanter output slot, plain machine slots, ghost and preview machine slots, and the item and fluid filter slots. It also covers Sophisticated Core slots: the filter slots, the storage inventory slot, the storage upgrade slot and the supplied-handler slot.[4]
Unverified The sources don't show the mod's own default values, so it is unconfirmed which of these settings the pack changed from default.
