What is Simple Inventory Sorter?

Simple Inventory Sorter is included in the pack as version 24.0.24, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (file inventorysorter-1.21.1-24.0.24.jar). It was first included in this pack's 1.22.0 release or an earlier one.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what the mod does, how its controls work, or whether the pack changes any of its settings. I also have no confirmed information on where it fits in the pack's progression, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. Check in-game before relying on any of those details.

How do you get started with Simple Inventory Sorter?

2 parts

Good news: Simple Inventory Sorter doesn't ask you to craft anything to get going. The sources I have for this mod list no items or recipes to make first, so there is no recipe block in this section.[2]

What the mod gives you is a set of inventory-handling features, each described as a module that can be enabled or disabled. Knowing what they are helps you spot them in your first containers.[2]

What the mod can do

  • Inventory sorting: the mod has an inventory sorting module that can be switched on or off.[2]
  • Move all items with the spacebar: a separate module, which can also be enabled or disabled.[2]
  • Move a single item with the mouse wheel: scrolling can move an item, and this is its own module too.[2]
  • Wheel item to cursor: the mod adds a key binding with this name, so check your controls menu to see or change it.[2]

If a container won't sort

The mod has a container debug option. When it's on, the mod creates log messages whenever a container is being sorted. The stated purpose is to help compile a blacklist, so it's handy if a particular container misbehaves.[2]

Unverified The exact controls that trigger sorting, the default state of each module, the config file and option names, and whether the pack changes any of these settings are not confirmed by the available sources. No quests or in-pack recipes for this mod were found either.

How does Simple Inventory Sorter work?

2 parts

Simple Inventory Sorter doesn't have machines, multiblocks, power or fluids to learn. The sources show a set of inventory-screen helpers that you switch on or off in config files. This section covers what those switches do in this pack.[2][3][4]

Client modules

The client config has module switches, and this pack leaves every one of them set to true.[3]

  • modules.sortingmodule is the sorting module. The mod's in-game option for it is named middleClickSorting and is described as "Is the inventory sorting module enabled?"[2][3]
  • modules.wheelmovemodule is the wheel move module. Its in-game option is described as the mouse-wheel scroll to move an item module. The mod also has a key binding called "Wheel item to cursor".[2][3]
  • modules.dodgemousetweaks is commented as "Avoid conflicts with mousetweaks wheel moves". It is also true in this pack.[3]

The mod's tooltips also describe a module that uses the spacebar to move all items.[2]

Server-side blacklists

The server config has a container blacklist and a slot blacklist. blacklists.containerBlacklist lists whole containers, and blacklists.slotBlacklist lists slot types. The pack fills in both.[4]

The container blacklist in this pack contains: occultism:ritual_satchel_t2, occultism:ritual_satchel_t1, ftbstuff:water_strainer, curios:curios_container, titanium:addon_container and mysticalagriculture:harvester.[4]

The slot blacklist is mostly Java class names for slot types from Ender IO and Sophisticated Core. These include Ender IO machine slots, ghost slots, preview slots, filter slots and the enchanter output slot, plus Sophisticated Core filter, storage and upgrade slots. It also contains productivebees:advanced_beehive.[4]

Tip: If a modded container behaves badly when you sort it, the mod has a container debug option. It creates log messages whenever a container is being sorted, to help you compile a blacklist.[2]

Which Simple Inventory Sorter config options matter?

2 parts

Simple Inventory Sorter keeps its settings in a client file and a server file. The client file switches the mod's features on or off for you, and the server file lists the containers and slots the sorter should leave alone. Here is how the pack sets each one.[3][4]

Client modules

Every client module is enabled in this pack. If one of them ever stops working for you, this file is the first place to check.[3]

Server blacklists

The server file holds a container blacklist and a slot type blacklist. Anything named in them is something the sorter is set to skip.[4]

The pack's blacklists.containerBlacklist contains these entries: occultism:ritual_satchel_t2, occultism:ritual_satchel_t1, ftbstuff:water_strainer, curios:curios_container, titanium:addon_container and mysticalagriculture:harvester.[4]

The pack's blacklists.slotBlacklist is a longer list of slot classes. Most of them are slot classes from the enderio and sophisticatedcore code packages, covering machine, filter, ghost, preview, storage and upgrade slots. The list also includes productivebees:advanced_beehive.[4]

Tip: If the sorter refuses to touch a particular inventory, check these blacklists first to see whether that container or slot type is named in them.[4]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as inventorysorter, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
