What is SG-Economy API?

3 parts

SG-Economy API adds an extensible economic system to Minecraft. It works as a mod API, so other mods can define, store and synchronize currencies and player balances through one unified API. This pack includes version 1.0.5.[1][2]

The balance is a persistent number tied to player data. It is not represented by an in-game item, so think of it as a virtual wallet. What the wallet is called and what it is used for depends on the implementation or the mod that integrates with it.[1]

What it gives you

  • A choice between integer and decimal balances, set in a configuration file. This choice affects the format of the stored balance.[1]
  • Administrative commands to check balances, add, set or remove values, and optionally transfer balance between players. These commands can be enabled or disabled.[1]
  • A display of the player's balance in the inventory interface and/or on screen. It only reflects the value stored in the player's data.[1]
  • Configuration files for currency format, balance retention rules, available commands and interface display options.[1]

For developers

Developers get documented classes and methods to query and modify player balances, integrate natively with other mods and create custom economic systems. The mod page says its GitHub repository includes practical examples and implementation guides.[1]

In the quest book

Unverified The sources here do not show any quest book chapter or group for this mod, what comes before or after it, or whether the ATM Star path uses it. The features above are the mod's general features, not confirmed pack settings.

How do you get started with SG-Economy API?

1 part

Good news: there is nothing to craft to get started with SG Economy API. It is an API mod that adds an economy system, and your balance is a persistent number tied to your player data. It is not an item, so you won't be making coins or a wallet.[1]

Think of it as a virtual wallet. What the balance is called and what you can spend it on depends on the mod that uses it, so the API on its own doesn't give you much to do.[1]

What to know first

  • Your balance can be shown in the inventory screen and/or on the screen, depending on how the configuration is set up. It only shows the value stored in your player data.[1]
  • The currency can use whole numbers or decimals. This is set in a configuration file and changes how the balance is stored.[1]
  • The mod includes commands to check balances, add, set or remove values, and optionally transfer balance between players. Server owners can enable or disable these commands.[1]
  • The config files also control balance retention rules, which commands are available and how the interface display looks.[1]
Tip: If you run a server or build your own pack, the config file is where you decide between integer and decimal currency. Choose before players start earning, because the setting affects how balances are stored.[1]

Unverified I couldn't confirm any recipes, quests or in-game items for this mod in the pack, so there is no crafting order to follow. I also couldn't confirm the pack's own config values or which other mods in the pack use the economy. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does SG-Economy API work?

4 parts

If you're looking for machines, multiblocks, power or fluid handling, this mod has none of that. It's an API that adds a virtual wallet: a persistent numeric balance stored in your player data. It is not represented by in-game items, so there's nothing to craft, place or pipe around.[1]

Other mods can use the API to query and change player balances, or to build their own economic systems. What the currency means and what it's used for depends on whichever mod integrates it.[1]

Whole numbers or decimals

The balance can be stored as whole numbers or as decimals. In this pack [[config:config/sg_economy-server.toml#ECONOMY SETTINGS.decimalCurrency]] is false, so balances are whole numbers only. If it were true, you'd see values like 10.5 coins. The config notes that changing this setting affects players' existing balances, so don't flip it on a world that's already in use.[1][3]

What happens on death

[[config:config/sg_economy-server.toml#DEATH SETTINGS.percentageCoinsSaveOnDeath]] controls the percentage of your coins that you keep when you die. It accepts values from 0 to 100. The pack sets it to 100, the same as the mod default, so dying doesn't cost you any coins here.[3]

Paying other players

The /coins pay command lets you transfer coins to other players. It's controlled by [[config:config/sg_economy-server.toml#PAY COMMAND.isActivePayCommand]], which is true in this pack, so the command is active.[1][3]

Balance display

Your balance shows in the inventory screen. It only reflects the value stored in your player data. DISPLAYS.activeDisplayCurrency is true in this pack, so the display is on.[1][4]

You can move the display with DISPLAYS.xDisplayCurrency and DISPLAYS.yDisplayCurrency. Both are 0 in this pack, which matches the mod default. The config's own tip says that 80 on the x position aligns the display to the right side.[4]

Unverified The sources don't say which mods in this pack use the currency, how you earn or spend coins, or what the other balance commands are called. Check in game before relying on any of that.

Which SG-Economy API config options matter?

2 parts

SG-Economy API is a virtual wallet, not an item. Your balance is stored in your player data and isn't made of physical coins. The options below are the ones you're most likely to notice in play. Where the pack file shows a mod default, the pack's value matches it, so nothing here has been changed from the default.[1][3][4]

Server options

  • [[config:config/sg_economy-server.toml#DEATH SETTINGS.percentageCoinsSaveOnDeath]] is 100 in this pack, the same as the mod default. It accepts values from 0 to 100, so you keep all your coins when you die.[3]
  • [[config:config/sg_economy-server.toml#ECONOMY SETTINGS.decimalCurrency]] is false. The economy uses whole numbers only, with no values like 10.5. The file warns that changing this setting affects players' existing balances, so don't flip it on a world that is already running. The sources don't list a mod default for this option.[3]
  • [[config:config/sg_economy-server.toml#PAY COMMAND.isActivePayCommand]] is true, so the /coins pay command is active and you can transfer coins to other players.[1][3]

Client options

Tip: If the coin counter sits somewhere you don't like in your inventory, change the two display position values in the client config. This only affects your own screen.[4]

What changed in SG-Economy API between versions?

2 parts

FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships SG-Economy API 1.0.5. The mod was first included in FTB Skies 2 1.14.0 or earlier. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, so the notes below come from the mod's own changelogs.[2]

1.0.2: a big internal refactor

Version 1.0.2 (dated 2026-02-10) was mostly a rework under the hood. The Economy API was refactored, and the provider interfaces were consolidated into a single EconomyEventProvider interface. Commands, events, the GUI, examples and mod initialization were all updated to use it.[5]

  • Added a central economy service implementation, EconomyEventServiceImpl, and EconomyServices as the single access point for economy services.[5]
  • Added CoinsBagRepository to handle reading and writing the coin capability.[5]
  • Added server-to-client config syncing. The server config is sent to clients when it is baked and when a player logs in.[5]
  • Added extra validation (negative amounts, for example) and more logging for errors and key operations.[5]
  • Removed the legacy economy, event and provider classes, the old Default and Death providers, and CurrencyUtils.[5]
  • Fixed error handling for balance operations so it is consistent, and invalid operations such as negative values are now prevented.[5]

If you write addons or scripts against the API, the removed classes and the consolidated provider interface are the parts to watch. Death and balance logic now go through the central service layer.[5]

1.0.4: commands in Command Blocks

The currency management commands (/coins set, add and remove) now work in Command Blocks. This is handy if you build shops or rewards with command blocks in your world.[6]

Unverified No changelog was available for 1.0.5, the version FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 actually includes, so what changed in that release is unconfirmed.
