What is LLamaPalooza?
LLamaPalooza is part of the mod list in this pack. The pack ships version 0.0.5, built for Minecraft 1.21.1 (file LLamaPalooza-1.21.1-0.0.5.jar). It was first included in this pack version or an earlier one.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm what LLamaPalooza adds, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. The sources for this guide don't include a mod description, an in-game guidebook, or any quests or recipes for it, so I'm not guessing. Check back once more information is available. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with LLamaPalooza?
2 parts
Here's the honest picture for LLamaPalooza in this pack: the information I can confirm is about how Loot Llamas behave, not about a crafting order. There are no recipes for the mod's items and no quests that involve it in the sources I have, so I can't give you a first-items-to-craft list without making it up.[2]
What Loot Llamas do
The mod's settings show that Loot Llamas spit items out at a regular interval. By default, they only do this when a player is within 16 blocks of them. So if you want to see what a Loot Llama gives you, stay close to it.[2]
The mod default for the spit interval is 200 ticks, where 20 ticks equal 1 second. The mod also has Speed upgrade levels, and each level reduces that interval by 20 ticks by default.[2]
Settings worth knowing about
- Always spit: off by default. If it's turned on, Loot Llamas spit items even when no players are nearby.[2]
- Spit interval: the time in ticks between spits. The mod default is 200.[2]
- Speed reduction: the ticks removed per Speed upgrade level. The mod default is 20.[2]
- Tables: the list of loot tables the mod knows about, written as namespace:loot_table_name, for example minecraft:chests/simple_dungeon.[2]
Unverified How to obtain Loot Llamas or Speed upgrades, any crafting recipes for the mod's items, and any quests related to LLamaPalooza are not confirmed by the available sources, so this guide doesn't describe them.
How does LLamaPalooza work?
3 parts
What the sources confirm about LLamaPalooza in this pack is how Loot Llamas behave: how often they spit items, when they do it, and how high their upgrade levels can go. Everything below comes from the mod's config and the pack's values for it.[2][3]
When Loot Llamas spit
Loot Llamas spit items out on a timer, set by general.spitInterval. The mod's default is 200 ticks between spits, and 20 ticks make 1 second. The pack changes this to 1,200 ticks, so llamas here wait longer between spits than in the stock mod.[2][3]
By default a Loot Llama only spits when a player is within 16 blocks of it. The pack turns on general.alwaysSpit, so llamas here keep spitting even when nobody is nearby. You don't have to stand next to them.[2][3]
Upgrade levels
Loot Llamas can have Loot Gain, Loot Speed and Loot Strength levels. The pack leaves each cap at the mod default of 10, set by llama.maxGain, llama.maxSpeed and llama.maxStrength.[3]
Speed is the only upgrade whose effect the sources explain. Each Speed upgrade level reduces the time between spits by the amount in general.speedReduction. The mod default is 20 ticks per level, and the pack raises it to 40 ticks per level.[2][3]
What they spit
The mod keeps a list of loot tables it knows about, set by general.tables. Entries use the form namespace:loot_table_name. The pack's list contains one table, ftb:llama_food.[2][3]
How do you progress through LLamaPalooza?
3 parts
There are no tiers in the usual sense for this mod. Instead, the pack gives you a feeding ladder: you hand a Loot Llama a specific item and, if the roll succeeds, its loot table changes to match. That ladder is defined by one of the pack's own scripts, so these are the pack's values.[4]
Getting a Loot Llama
Loot Llamas show up through the pack's Llama event. It spawns a random Loot Llama near you with a chance value of 0.6, placed between 2 and 15 blocks away, and you get a warning first. Unless the event was given a specific loot table, the llama starts on the plain food table.[5]
Leash it quickly. If the llama is not leashed 15 seconds after it appears, it escapes in a puff of smoke. The event also gives up if 4 or more Loot Llamas are already within 64 blocks of the spawn point.[5]
How the upgrade works
Right-click a Loot Llama with one of the food items below. On success you see hearts, get a green message, and the llama is renamed after the new type. On a failure you see smoke and a red message, and the item is not a guaranteed win, so be ready to try again. Feeding an item that matches the llama's current loot table does nothing.[4]
The feeding ladder
Each food item has its own chance value. The lower the number, the rarer the success.[4]
- Golden apple, chance 1: the base food table, so this always works. The item is Golden Apple.[4]
- Chance 0.1: Coal for the coal cluster table, Amethyst Shard for the amethyst cluster table, and Glowstone Dust for the glowstone block table.[4]
- Chance 0.05: Iron Ingot, Gold Ingot, Copper Ingot, Lapis Lazuli, Redstone and Quartz, each for its matching cluster table. Slime Block also sits here and switches the llama to the slime entity loot table.[4]
- Chance 0.01: Diamond and Emerald, for the diamond and emerald cluster tables. These are the hardest upgrades, so don't waste a llama's patience if you only have one.[4]
The ore-type llamas use cluster loot tables, which is why feeding an ingot or gem gets you that material's drops. The event itself also lists two suggested loot tables, a general one and an ores one, which you can use when running it by command.[4][5]
Unverified The exact items a Loot Llama drops from each loot table, and how often, are not shown in the available sources.
Which LLamaPalooza config options matter?
3 parts
LLamaPalooza keeps its settings in a common config file, and this pack changes some of the values you are most likely to notice. Here is what each option does and what the pack sets it to.[3]
Values the pack changed
- general.spitInterval is the number of ticks between Loot Llamas spitting items out. The pack sets it to 1,200 instead of the mod default of 200, so your llamas spit far less often.[3]
- general.speedReduction is the number of ticks removed per Speed upgrade level. The pack sets it to 40 instead of the mod default of 20, so each Speed level cuts more time than it would in a default install.[3]
Other options worth knowing
- general.alwaysSpit is set to true in the pack. That means Loot Llamas spit items even when no players are nearby. The config comment lists the default as false, where they only spit when a player is within 16 blocks.[3]
- general.tables is the list of loot tables the mod knows about. The pack's list contains only ftb:llama_food.[3]
Upgrade level caps
The pack leaves the level caps at the mod default of 10. These are llama.maxGain for Loot Gain, llama.maxSpeed for Loot Speed and llama.maxStrength for Loot Strength.[3]
