What is LLamaPalooza?

LLamaPalooza is one of the mods included in this pack. The pack ships version 0.0.4, and the file is named LLamaPalooza-1.21.1-0.0.4.jar. That file name mentions 1.21.1 even though the pack is on 1.20.1, so keep that in mind if you go looking for info on the mod.[1]

It has been in the pack since version 1.4.0 or earlier, so you won't need to add it yourself.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what LLamaPalooza does, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. I have no confirmed recipes, config options or mechanics for it, so I'm not guessing at any of them. Check the mod in-game to see what it adds.

How do you get started with LLamaPalooza?

2 parts

Same as in the FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 guide

Here's the honest picture for LLamaPalooza in this pack: the information I can confirm is about how Loot Llamas behave, not about a crafting order. There are no recipes for the mod's items and no quests that involve it in the sources I have, so I can't give you a first-items-to-craft list without making it up.[2]

What Loot Llamas do

The mod's settings show that Loot Llamas spit items out at a regular interval. By default, they only do this when a player is within 16 blocks of them. So if you want to see what a Loot Llama gives you, stay close to it.[2]

The mod default for the spit interval is 200 ticks, where 20 ticks equal 1 second. The mod also has Speed upgrade levels, and each level reduces that interval by 20 ticks by default.[2]

Settings worth knowing about

  • Always spit: off by default. If it's turned on, Loot Llamas spit items even when no players are nearby.[2]
  • Spit interval: the time in ticks between spits. The mod default is 200.[2]
  • Speed reduction: the ticks removed per Speed upgrade level. The mod default is 20.[2]
  • Tables: the list of loot tables the mod knows about, written as namespace:loot_table_name, for example minecraft:chests/simple_dungeon.[2]
Watch out: These numbers are the mod's defaults as listed in its descriptions. I have nothing showing whether this pack changes them, so treat the values as defaults, not as confirmed pack values.[2]

Unverified How to obtain Loot Llamas or Speed upgrades, any crafting recipes for the mod's items, and any quests related to LLamaPalooza are not confirmed by the available sources, so this guide doesn't describe them.

How does LLamaPalooza work?

3 parts

LLamaPalooza is built around Loot Llamas that spit items out. The sources for this pack only cover the mod's config, so this section is short. It explains how the spitting is timed and what the pack changed.[2][3]

How Loot Llamas spit items

Loot Llamas spit items out at a fixed interval, set by general.spitInterval. The mod default is 200 ticks, but the pack raises it to 1,200 ticks. The config counts 20 ticks as 1 second. Llamas in this pack spit much more slowly than the mod's defaults would suggest.[2][3]

Normally a Loot Llama only spits when a player is within 16 blocks. The pack turns on general.alwaysSpit, whose mod default is false. Here, Loot Llamas keep spitting even when nobody is nearby.[2][3]

Speed upgrades

Each Speed upgrade level reduces the spit interval by the amount set in general.speedReduction. The mod default is 20 ticks per level, but the pack doubles it to 40 ticks per level. Speed upgrades are therefore twice as effective here as in the mod's defaults.[2][3]

Tip: The pack lengthens the base interval to 1,200 ticks but also raises the reduction per Speed upgrade level to 40 ticks. If you want faster output, Speed upgrades are the lever the config gives you.[3]

What they spit

The loot comes from loot tables the mod knows about, listed in general.tables. Entries use the syntax namespace:loot_table_name. The pack's list contains a single entry, ftb:llama_food.[2][3]

Unverified The sources don't explain how to obtain Loot Llamas or Speed upgrades, how the upgrades are applied, or whether the mod has machines, multiblocks, power, fluid handling or automation features. None of this is confirmed for this pack.

Which LLamaPalooza config options matter?

2 parts

LLamaPalooza keeps its settings in one common config file, and this pack changes two of the values from the mod's defaults. Here is what each option does and how the pack sets it.[3]

Values the pack changed

  • general.spitInterval is the time in ticks between Loot Llamas spitting items out. The pack sets it to 1,200 instead of the mod default of 200. Since 20 ticks is 1 second, your Loot Llamas spit less often here than in a default install.[3]
  • general.speedReduction is how many ticks each Speed upgrade level takes off. The pack sets it to 40 instead of the mod default of 20, so every Speed upgrade level is worth twice the default reduction.[3]

Other options worth knowing

  • general.alwaysSpit is set to true in this pack. When it is true, Loot Llamas spit items even with no players nearby. When it is false, which the file lists as the default, they only spit when a player is within 16 blocks. So you don't need to stay close to your llamas for them to keep working.[3]
  • general.tables is the list of loot tables the mod knows about, written as namespace:loot_table_name. The pack's list contains one entry, ftb:llama_food.[3]
Tip: The spit interval is longer in this pack, so Speed upgrades are worth more. Each level cuts 40 ticks instead of the default 20.[3]
