What is Emojiful?
2 parts
Emojiful adds emojis to Minecraft chat so you can send a bit of emotion with ease. It also supports animated emojis, so your chat can get a lot more lively.[1]
This pack includes Emojiful 5.2.4, the NeoForge build for 1.21.[2]
What it does
- Certain text triggers render as emojis instead of plain text. Simple ones include :) and >:(, and more advanced ones include :rage: and :ok_hand:.[1]
- Emoji autocomplete and an emoji selection screen let you search all the available emojis instead of memorizing names.[1]
- If you use a Discord server mod and someone types  in Discord, Emojiful renders the matching emoji in Minecraft too.[1]
- If an emoji you want is missing, you can add custom emojis with datapacks. The project page points to EmojiBot in the mod's Discord as an easy way to turn Discord emojis into datapacks.[1]
Who it is for
It's for anyone who chats a lot, whether you play multiplayer with friends or bridge your game chat to a Discord server. It's a communication feature rather than a gameplay one, so you don't need it to progress.[1]
Unverified The sources show no quests in this pack that involve Emojiful, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. Its place in the pack's progression is therefore unconfirmed, and it doesn't appear to gate or unlock anything.
How do you get started with Emojiful?
2 parts
Emojiful is a bit different from most mods in the pack, because it's all about chat. It adds emojis to Minecraft so you can show emotion with ease, and it supports animated emojis too. The sources I have don't point to any item you need to craft first, so your first steps are just learning how to type and find emojis.[1]
Your first steps
- Start simple by typing a classic text trigger in chat, like :) or >:(. Emojiful renders an emoji in place of the usual text.[1]
- Next, try the more advanced emojis by name, such as :rage: or :ok_hand:.[1]
- Don't remember the names? Use the emoji autocomplete as you type, or the emoji selection, to search all the available emojis.[1]
- If you use a Discord server mod, someone typing  in Discord will show up as the correct emoji in Minecraft too.[1]
Adding your own emojis
If an emoji you want is missing, you can add custom ones with datapacks. The mod's page mentions EmojiBot in the author's Discord as an easy way to turn Discord emojis into datapacks.[1]
Unverified I couldn't confirm any pack-specific recipes, quests, config changes or the keybind for opening the emoji selector, so check in-game for those rather than relying on this page.
How does Emojiful work?
5 parts
Emojiful is a chat mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation to set up. The sources describe it as a mod that adds emojis to Minecraft so you can send emotion in chat, including animated ones. Everything it does comes down to how emojis are rendered, found and loaded, and the pack's client config controls all of that.[1]
How emojis show up in chat
Emojiful swaps certain text triggers for emojis when it renders chat. Simple triggers like :) and >:( work, and so do named ones like :rage: and :ok_hand:. In this pack, rendering is switched on with Emojiful.enabled.[1][3]
Short triggers get converted into their full emoji names so they can be drawn. That is what Emojiful.short_emoji_replacement does, and it is enabled in this pack.[3]
Emojiful also works alongside a Discord server mod. If someone types  in Discord, Emojiful renders the matching emoji in Minecraft too.[1]
Finding emojis
Two helpers make it easier to search the available emojis. This pack has both enabled.[1][3]
- Autocomplete in the chat text line, controlled by Emojiful.emoji_autocomplete.[3]
- An emoji selection GUI in the chat text line, controlled by Emojiful.emoji_selector.[3]
Where emojis come from
The config has a switch for each emoji source. In this pack, the mod's own custom emojis and datapack emojis from the server you join are on, while Twemojis (the style used on sites like Twitter and Discord) are off.[3]
- Emojiful.EmojiTypes.custom loads the custom emojis provided by Emojiful. It is true in this pack.[3]
- Emojiful.EmojiTypes.datapack loads datapack emojis provided by the server you join. It is true in this pack.[3]
- Emojiful.EmojiTypes.twemoji loads Twemojis. It is false in this pack.[3]
If an emoji you want is missing, you can add custom ones with datapacks. The project page mentions a Discord bot called EmojiBot that can turn Discord emojis into datapacks.[1]
Animated emojis
Emojiful.gifs is true in this pack, so animated emojis play. If you turn it off, they show as still images.[3]
Profanity filter
Emojiful includes a profanity filter that replaces bad words with an emoji. It is off in this pack, because ProfanityFilter.enabled is false. If you enable it, the replacement is set by ProfanityFilter.replacement, which is ":swear:" here.[3]
Unverified The sources do not document any items, blocks, crafting recipes or in-game commands for Emojiful, so none are covered here. This site does hold FTB Skies 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you progress through Emojiful?
1 part
Emojiful doesn't have a tier ladder in this pack, so there's no progression path to follow. The pack's only change to the mod is a server script that registers a handful of extra custom emojis.[4]
What the pack adds
The script adds custom emoji recipes of the Emojiful emoji recipe type, all filed under a category called FTB. Each entry is just a name and an image link, so these are emojis you can use in chat rather than items you craft.[4]
Nothing in the script gates these emojis behind a unlock, a material or a stage, so there are no steps to work through. Everything beyond this list, like how the emojis are picked in chat, isn't covered by the pack's files that I have, so I'm leaving it out.[4]
Which Emojiful config options matter?
3 parts
Emojiful keeps all of its settings in one file, config/emojiful-client.toml. Here is exactly how this pack sets each option, so you know what you get the moment you join a world.[3]
Chat features
- Emojiful.enabled is true, so emoji rendering is on.[3]
- Emojiful.emoji_autocomplete is true, so you get emoji autocomplete in the chat text line.[3]
- Emojiful.emoji_selector is true, so the emoji selection GUI is available in the chat text line.[3]
- Emojiful.short_emoji_replacement is true, so short versions like :) are turned into  and rendered as emoji.[3]
- Emojiful.gifs is true, so animated emojis play. If you turn it off, they show as still images.[3]
Emoji sources
- Emojiful.EmojiTypes.custom is true, so the custom emojis provided by Emojiful are loaded.[3]
- Emojiful.EmojiTypes.datapack is true, so datapack emojis provided by the server you join are loaded.[3]
- Emojiful.EmojiTypes.twemoji is false, so the Twemojis used on sites like Twitter and Discord are not loaded in this pack.[3]
Profanity filter
ProfanityFilter.enabled is false, so the filter that replaces bad words with emoji is off. If you switch it on, ProfanityFilter.replacement is set to :swear: in this pack.[3]
Emojiful can also add emojis through datapacks, which is how a server can supply its own emoji set.[1]
Unverified The sources only show the values this pack uses, not the mod's own defaults, so I can't tell you which of these options the pack changed from the default.
What changed in Emojiful between versions?
FTB Skies 2 1.22.0 ships with Emojiful 5.2.4. The mod has been in the pack since FTB Skies 2 1.0.1 or earlier, so it's a long-standing part of the modpack.[2]
Unverified There are no pack changelog entries for Emojiful, and the changelogs for Emojiful 5.2.1, 5.2.2, 5.2.3 and 5.2.4 don't list individual changes in the material provided. What changed between those releases is unverified.
