What is Colorful Allays?
Colorful Allays is included in this pack as version 1.21.1-1.0.0, shipped as the file colorfulallays-1.21.1-1.0.0.jar. It was already in the pack by the 1.22.0 release at the latest, so you can count on it being there.[1]
Unverified What the mod adds, who it is aimed at, and where it fits in the pack's progression could not be confirmed from the available sources. There is no mod description, guidebook, or platform page to draw on. No quests or ATM Star path entries were found for it either, so this guide doesn't claim any recipes, items, or mechanics for it.
How do you get started with Colorful Allays?
2 parts
Colorful Allays doesn't give you a first item to craft, so there's no crafting order to follow here. The sources for this pack show no recipe blocks to point to for this mod, so everything below comes from the pack's config.[2]
Don't expect to find them wandering around
In this pack, spawning.enableNaturalSpawning is set to false. Allays are not set to spawn naturally in the world, so you shouldn't count on stumbling across a colored one while exploring.[2]
If natural spawning is switched on in your own copy of the config, these are the pack's spawn values: a weight of 5 in spawning.naturalSpawnWeight, and groups of 1 to 2 Allays from spawning.naturalSpawnMinGroup and spawning.naturalSpawnMaxGroup. A higher weight means more common, and 0 disables spawning.[2]
How colors are picked
colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true, so any Allay that does spawn naturally gets a random color. Each color has its own weight, and a higher number makes it more likely.[2]
- Light blue is the most common, with a weight of 15 in colors.weights.lightBlue.[2]
- White comes next at 10 in colors.weights.white.[2]
- Black is the rarest at 3 in colors.weights.black, followed by brown at 4 in colors.weights.brown.[2]
Unverified How to get or change an Allay's color in survival isn't confirmed by the available sources for this pack.
How does Colorful Allays work?
2 parts
Here's the honest picture for Colorful Allays: the only thing the pack documents for this mod is its common config file. There are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item-handling systems that I can confirm, so this section covers what the config tells us about how colored Allays show up in the pack.[2]
Natural spawning
In this pack, spawning.enableNaturalSpawning is set to false. Allays don't spawn naturally in the world through this mod unless you (or the pack maker) switch it on.[2]
The other spawn settings are already filled in, but with natural spawning off they only matter once you enable it. spawning.naturalSpawnWeight is 5, and the config describes it as higher = more common, with 0 meaning disabled. Group size runs from spawning.naturalSpawnMinGroup = 1 to spawning.naturalSpawnMaxGroup = 2.[2]
spawning.enableInteractionPersistence is also false here. If you turned it on, naturally spawned Allays would become persistent once a player interacts with them.[2]
Random colors
colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true in the pack. When Allays spawn naturally, each one gets a randomly assigned color. Every color has its own weight setting.[2]
- Light blue has the highest value at 15 (colors.weights.lightBlue), followed by white at 10 (colors.weights.white).[2]
- Blue, orange, pink and yellow are all set to 8: colors.weights.blue, colors.weights.orange, colors.weights.pink and colors.weights.yellow.[2]
- Light gray, lime and red are all set to 7: colors.weights.lightGray, colors.weights.lime and colors.weights.red.[2]
- Cyan, green and magenta are all set to 6: colors.weights.cyan, colors.weights.green and colors.weights.magenta.[2]
- Gray and purple are set to 5: colors.weights.gray and colors.weights.purple.[2]
- Brown is set to 4 (colors.weights.brown), and black is the lowest at 3 (colors.weights.black).[2]
Unverified The config doesn't say how the color weights are turned into spawn odds, and I couldn't confirm anything else about the mod, such as how to dye or recolor an Allay, or any items, machines or automation. No guidebook, lang descriptions, recipes or documentation were available for it.
Which Colorful Allays config options matter?
2 parts
Everything for Colorful Allays lives in one file, config/colorfulallays-common.toml. There are only a few options, and the most important one is already decided for you: in this pack, Allays don't spawn naturally.[2]
Natural spawning
spawning.enableNaturalSpawning is set to false in this pack. So you won't stumble across wild Allays unless you switch it on yourself.[2]
- spawning.naturalSpawnMinGroup is 1 and spawning.naturalSpawnMaxGroup is 2, so natural groups would be one or two Allays.[2]
- spawning.naturalSpawnWeight is 5. The file describes it as higher meaning more common, and 0 meaning disabled.[2]
- spawning.enableInteractionPersistence is false. If you enabled it, naturally spawned Allays would become persistent when a player interacts with them. As things stand, that doesn't happen.[2]
Colors
colors.enableRandomColorSpawning is true. The file says this gives Allays a random color when they spawn naturally. Each color has its own weight value in this pack:[2]
- Light blue is the highest at 15 (colors.weights.lightBlue), followed by white at 10 (colors.weights.white).[2]
- Blue, orange, pink and yellow are all 8: colors.weights.blue, colors.weights.orange, colors.weights.pink and colors.weights.yellow.[2]
- Light gray, lime and red are all 7: colors.weights.lightGray, colors.weights.lime and colors.weights.red.[2]
- Cyan, green and magenta are all 6: colors.weights.cyan, colors.weights.green and colors.weights.magenta.[2]
- Gray and purple are 5: colors.weights.gray and colors.weights.purple.[2]
- Brown is 4 (colors.weights.brown) and black is the lowest at 3 (colors.weights.black).[2]
Unverified The file doesn't say how the color weights are applied, and it doesn't list the mod's default values. So it's unconfirmed which of these settings the pack changed from the mod defaults.
