Advancement Plaques is a mod in FTB Skies 2 1.24.0, where it is version 1.6.8. Replace those boring advancement popups with something flashier. (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Advancement Plaques?

3 parts

Advancement Plaques is a small quality-of-life mod that replaces the plain advancement popups with glowing plaques. If you like seeing your milestones get a bit of a fanfare, this one is for you. It's purely cosmetic, so it won't change how you play.[1]

The pack ships version 1.6.8, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[2]

What you can tweak

  • Choose which advancement types get a plaque: Task, Goal, Challenge, or any combination.[1]
  • Show plaques at the top or the bottom of the screen, and set how far they sit from that edge.[1]
  • Use the whitelist option with a list of advancement IDs if you only want plaques for select advancements.[1]
  • Change how the plaques look with a resource pack.[1]

Compatibility

It works with any advancement, including ones added by other mods, and it is fully compatible with Toast Control. The author warns that other mods that affect advancement popups may not work alongside it.[1]

The project page lists Iceberg as a required dependency.[1]

Where it fits in progression

It doesn't. Advancement Plaques adds no progression content, only a different look for advancement popups.[1]

Unverified The sources don't confirm whether the pack changes any of this mod's default config values, whether the Forge note about custom sounds needing both client and server applies to the NeoForge build, or whether the pack ships Iceberg itself. Check your config folder in game before relying on any specific setting.

How do you get started with Advancement Plaques?

2 parts

Good news: there's nothing to craft to get going with Advancement Plaques. It's a visual mod that replaces the plain advancement popups with glowing plaques, and it works on its own once it's in the pack.[1]

Nothing in this pack adds quests for the mod, and no recipes produce items from it. So unlike most mods in this pack, there's no first-items order to follow. Your first step is just to unlock an advancement and watch the plaque show up.[1]

What you'll notice

  • The mod works with any advancement, including ones added by other mods, so you'll see plaques from across the pack.[1]
  • It's compatible with Toast Control. Other mods that change advancement popups may not work alongside it.[1]
  • The mod requires Iceberg as a dependency.[1]

What you can tweak

The mod's configuration lets you show plaques for any or all of the three advancement types: Task, Goal and Challenge. You can also place them at the top or bottom of the screen and set the distance from that edge. If you only want plaques for certain advancements, the whitelist option takes a list of advancement IDs.[1]

The look of the plaques can be changed with resource packs, so you can restyle them to suit your setup.[1]

Tip: If the plaques ever feel too busy, limit them to only the advancement types you care about instead of removing the mod.[1]

Unverified The exact config values this pack uses (which advancement types are enabled, the plaque position, and whether a whitelist is set) couldn't be confirmed from the available sources. Check the mod's config in your instance to see the real settings.

How does Advancement Plaques work?

6 parts

Advancement Plaques doesn't have machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. The sources describe it as a mod that replaces the standard advancement popups with glowing plaques, so everything below is about how those plaques behave and how you can tune them. All of it is client-side configuration.[1]

Which advancements get a plaque

The mod splits advancements into three types: tasks (normal advancements), goals (medium-difficulty) and challenges (high-difficulty). Each type has its own on/off switch, and in this pack each of them is enabled.[1][3]

The mod works with any advancement, including ones added by other mods, and it is described as fully compatible with Toast Control. Other mods that change advancement popups may not work alongside it.[1]

Whitelist and blacklist

If you only want plaques for certain advancements, use client.functionality_options.whitelist. Leaving it empty shows plaques for everything, and it is empty in the pack. client.functionality_options.blacklist does the opposite and hides plaques for the entries you list. It takes precedence over the whitelist if they conflict, and it is also empty in the pack.[1][3]

Both lists accept the same kinds of entry:[3]

  • An advancement ID, for example "minecraft:adventure/adventuring_time".[3]
  • A mod ID with no colon, for example "minecraft".[3]
  • An advancement category, ending with a slash, for example "minecraft:story/".[3]

Placement on screen

client.visual_options.on_top decides whether the plaque shows at the top of the screen (true in the pack) or the bottom. client.visual_options.distance sets how far the plaque sits from that screen edge in pixels. The pack uses 16, which is also the mod default, and the allowed range is 8 to 256.[1][3]

client.visual_options.horizontal_offset shifts the plaque sideways from the center, in pixels. The pack keeps the default of 0, and the allowed range is -256 to 256. If you use Waila, HWYLA or Jade, client.visual_options.hide_waila can hide their popups while a plaque is showing. It is false in the pack.[3]

Timing and the shiny effect

Each advancement type has its own display duration, and the pack sets every one of them to 7. That matches the mod default, and the allowed range is 2.0 to 10.0. The config describes the duration as excluding the fade in and fade out of the shiny effect.[3]

All fade values accept 0.1 to 3.0. Every value in this pack matches the mod default, so nothing here has been changed from the stock experience.[3]

Sounds

Each type has its own volume setting: client.functionality_options.task_volume, client.functionality_options.goal_volume and client.functionality_options.challenge_volume. Each is 1 in the pack, the range is 0.0 to 1.0, and a volume set to 0 is muted.[3]

The mod adds custom sounds. On Forge, because of a limitation, that means it needs to be installed on both the client and the server. If the sounds are disabled in config, it can run on the client alone. The Fabric version is fully client-side.[1]

Colors and looks

client.visual_options.title_color colors the plaque title, such as the "Advancement made!" text, and the pack sets it to "#FFFFFFFF". client.visual_options.name_color colors the advancement name and is "#FF57faff" in the pack. Both accept an 8-digit #AARRGGBB hex code, and if the Prism library is installed, any Prism color definition works too.[3]

The plaque appearance can also be customized with resource packs.[1]

Which Advancement Plaques config options matter?

4 parts

Every Advancement Plaques option lives in the client section of config/advancementplaques.toml. Wherever the pack's file lists a mod default, the pack's value is identical to it. The pack hasn't changed any of those numbers, so what you see below is also what the mod does out of the box.[3]

Which plaques show, and where

Sound volume

client.functionality_options.task_volume, client.functionality_options.goal_volume and client.functionality_options.challenge_volume are all 1, the mod default, on a range of 0.0 to 1.0. Set one to 0 to mute that tier's sound.[3]

How long plaques stay up

client.duration_options.task_duration, client.duration_options.goal_duration and client.duration_options.challenge_duration are each 7, the mod default, with an allowed range of 2.0 to 10.0. That duration doesn't include the shiny effect's fade in and fade out.[3]

Colors and filtering

client.visual_options.name_color is "#FF57faff" and client.visual_options.title_color is "#FFFFFFFF". Both take an 8-digit #AARRGGBB hex code, and any Prism color definition works if the Prism library is installed.[3]

client.functionality_options.whitelist and client.functionality_options.blacklist are both empty, so plaques show for every advancement. You can list an advancement ID, a mod ID, or a category ending in a slash. If an entry conflicts between them, the blacklist wins.[3]

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as advancementplaques, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
