What is Wakes Reforged?
1 part
Wakes Reforged adds simple wakes to the water, and it aims to keep them in the spirit of vanilla. So you get a small visual touch rather than a big new system to learn.[1]
It is a port of the Fabric version by Goby56, and it is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only.[1]
In this pack
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Wakes Reforged 1.4.1, using the NeoForge file wakes-26.1.2-NeoForge-1.4.1.jar. The mod was already in the pack by version 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest book placement for this mod, so there is no chapter, group or neighbouring quest to point you to, and they do not show whether the ATM Star path uses it.
How do you get started with Wakes Reforged?
1 part
Wakes Reforged is a visual mod, so there is nothing to craft to get started. It adds simple wakes that fit the spirit of vanilla, and it is a port of the Fabric version by Goby56.[1]
The easiest way to see it working is to walk or swim through water, or take a boat out. The mod's settings text says it can show effects when you move in water, when other players move in water, when mobs and items move in water, when a boat moves, and when a fishing bobber lands.[3]
Options worth knowing about
- There are separate settings for the effect from you, other players, mobs, items, boats and fishing bobbers, so you can tune what makes a wake.[3]
- A setting lets you quickly grab a boat by middle clicking water.[3]
- You can set the pixel resolution of the wakes, which helps them fit some resource packs.[3]
- If you use a shader pack, there are settings for wake brightness and for an extra water height offset, the latter only needed when the shader's water displacement can't be detected automatically.[3]
- The mod can be disabled entirely, and you can show debug info in F3.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show which of these options this pack changes or what values it uses. There are also no quests or recipes for this mod in the sources, so check the mod's own settings in game for the current values.
How does Wakes Reforged work?
4 parts
Wakes Reforged doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power or item automation. It adds wakes: simple water effects that aim to fit the spirit of vanilla. It's a port of the Fabric version by Goby56. So the mechanics worth knowing are what produces a wake and how you can tune how it looks.[1]
What can produce a wake
The mod has a separate setting for each kind of thing that can disturb water, so you can choose the visible effect for each one on its own.[3]
- Your own movement in water.[3]
- Other players moving in water.[3]
- Mobs moving in water.[3]
- Boats moving in water.[3]
- Items moving in water.[3]
- A fishing bobber landing in water.[3]
Some extra settings give you finer control. One is a list of fluid IDs that can produce wakes. Another is a list of entity type IDs that should not produce wakes.[3]
How the wake behaves
Each wake source starts with an initial strength. The wake is drawn as a grid of pixels, and the mod lets you adjust how that grid behaves.[3]
- Initial strength: the strength a source starts with to produce a wake.[3]
- Wave decay factor: how much of a pixel's value is left after each tick, on a logarithmic scale.[3]
- Wave propagation factor: the impact a pixel has on its neighboring pixels inside the wake.[3]
- Wake resolution: the pixel resolution of the wakes, handy for making them fit certain resource packs better.[3]
Display and shader options
- First person splash plane: chooses whether your own splash plane is visible in first person.[3]
- Shader light passthrough: sets the brightness of wakes while a shader pack is in use. Lighting comes from the shader pack itself, so 1.0 leaves wakes untouched and lower values dim them.[3]
- Shader water height offset: extra height added on top of the wave height detected from the loaded shader pack. You only need it for packs whose water displacement can't be detected automatically.[3]
- Show debug info: adds the mod's debug info to the F3 screen.[3]
Other options
- Pick boat: lets you quickly grab a boat by middle clicking water.[3]
- Disable mod: switches off the mod's functionality entirely.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show the default values of these options, or whether the pack changes any of them. Check the mod's own configuration options in game for the values this pack uses.
What changed in Wakes Reforged between versions?
2 parts
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Wakes Reforged 1.4.1. The pack has included the mod since FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so 1.4.1 is the version you are playing with.[2]
Wakes Reforged 1.4.1
The mod's own 1.4.1 changelog is mostly about shaders, so it matters most if you play with a shader pack.[4]
- Wakes no longer clip through the water surface with shaders that animate water. They are lifted by the exact wave height of the loaded shader pack, read from the pack itself along with your in-game shader settings.[4]
- Many shader packs are supported out of the box, including Complementary (Reimagined, Unbound, Spooklementary, Voxlementary), Rethinking Voxels, BSL and BSL Classic, AstraLex, Insanity, Pastel, Photon, Hysteria, Sildur's Vibrant Shaders and Kappa. Packs that do not animate water are detected and get no offset at all.[4]
- A new "Extra shader water offset" option covers the rare shader pack whose water animation cannot be detected automatically.[4]
- Wake lighting under shaders is fixed. Wakes used to be dimmed by a flat 50%, which fought the shader's own lighting. Now the shader pack lights them entirely, so they respond to time of day, shadows and nearby light sources.[4]
Other fixes in 1.4.1
- Dedicated servers no longer fail to start when Wakes is left in the server's mods folder.[4]
- Wake trails no longer break up into hard square blocks when a lot of wakes are made at once. Ripples spread smoothly across block borders, and wakes fade out gradually instead of whole blocks popping out of existence.[4]
- Wakes no longer flicker between neighbouring blocks of different brightness as they fade.[4]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as wakes, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
