What is TrashSlot?

3 parts

TrashSlot adds a trash slot to your inventory screens, so you can get rid of unwanted items quickly and safely. This pack includes version 26.1.2.4, and it has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier.[1][2]

What it does

  • Drop an item into the trash slot to delete it.[1]
  • The slot keeps the last item you deleted. If you made a mistake, take it back out of the slot.[1]
  • Drag the slot with the mouse cursor to move it. It can be enabled or disabled in nearly every screen, and pressing T toggles it.[1]
  • Press the Delete key to delete the item under your mouse cursor.[1]
  • Press Shift+Delete to delete all items of the same type as the one under your cursor.[1]

Installing and requirements

The mod requires Balm, which must be installed alongside it. It is optional on clients: only the server and the players who want to use it need to install it.[1]

Where it sits in the quest book

Unverified The sources here do not show a quest book chapter, group or position for TrashSlot, and they do not show it on the ATM Star path. No in-jar guidebook was found for the mod either, so treat the list above as the full picture of what it does.

How do you get started with TrashSlot?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

TrashSlot adds a draggable trash slot to your inventory screens, so you can get rid of unwanted items quickly and safely. Good news: there is nothing to craft or unlock first. You learn the controls and you're set.[1]

Unverified No crafting recipe or quest for TrashSlot has been confirmed in this pack, so there is no recipe to show here.

Your first minutes with it

  1. Open your inventory and look for the trash slot. It shows up on inventory screens, and it can be enabled or disabled on nearly every screen.[1]
  2. Drop an item you don't need into the trash slot to delete it.[1]
  3. Made a mistake? The trash slot keeps the last deleted item, so take it back out of the slot to untrash it.[1]
  4. Don't like where it sits? Drag it around with the mouse cursor to move it.[1]
  5. Press T to toggle the trash slot on or off.[1]

Delete keys

If you don't want to drag items around, hover over one and press Delete to delete the item under the cursor. Press Shift+Delete to delete all items of the same type as the one under the cursor.[1]

Watch out: Shift+Delete removes every item of that type, so double-check what is under your cursor. Only the last item you trashed can be taken back out of the trash slot.[1]

Good to know

  • The first time you toggle the trash slot off, or open a supported screen where it can be enabled, TrashSlot shows a hint telling you which key to press. These hints can be turned off in the config.[3]
  • Some items can be protected with a deny list. If you try to trash one, you'll see the message "Item cannot be trashed!"[3]
  • There is an instant deletion option that makes the slot delete items immediately, similar to Creative Mode. Whether this pack changes that setting is unverified.[3]
  • The delete keybinds can also work in creative if that option is enabled, and items deleted there are gone permanently, regardless of the instant deletion setting.[3]
  • The mod requires Balm. It is optional on clients: only the server and players who want the trash slot need to install it.[1]

How does TrashSlot work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

TrashSlot is a small quality-of-life mod, not a tech mod. It adds a draggable trash slot to inventory screens so you can get rid of unwanted items quickly and safely. Everything below is about how that slot behaves.[1]

The trash slot

  • Drop an item into the slot to delete it.[1]
  • The slot keeps the last deleted item, so if you trash something by mistake you can take it back out.[1]
  • You can drag the slot around with the mouse cursor to change its position, and enable or disable it on nearly every screen. Press T to toggle it.[1]
  • The mod shows hints about toggling and about the slot being locked or unlocked. The locked and unlocked hints tell you which key to press.[3]

Delete keys

  • Delete deletes the item under your mouse cursor.[1]
  • Shift+Delete deletes all items of the same type as the one under your cursor.[1]

Options that change the behavior

The mod has several config options. The names below come from the mod's own tooltips. The pack has no config files for this mod, so I can't confirm which values it uses.[3]

  • instantDeletion makes the slot delete items instantly, similar to Creative Mode, instead of holding on to the last item.[3]
  • deletionDenyList is a comma-separated list of items in the "modid:name" format that can't be deleted. If you try to trash one, you get the message "Item cannot be trashed!"[3]
  • allowDeletionWhileTrashSlotIsInvisible lets the delete keybinds work even while the trash slot is hidden. The tooltip says this is not recommended.[3]
  • enableDeleteKeysInCreative makes the delete keybinds work in creative too. Items are deleted permanently in creative, regardless of the instantDeletion setting.[3]
  • enableHints controls the hint shown the first time the trash slot is toggled off, or can be enabled on a supported screen. Set it to false to turn the hint off.[3]
Watch out: Creative mode ignores the untrash safety net. If the delete keys are enabled in creative, deleted items are gone for good, even with instant deletion off.[3]

Multiplayer and requirements

The mod requires Balm to be installed alongside it. It is optional on clients: only the server and the players who want to use it need to install it.[1]

Unverified The pack's actual config values (whether instant deletion is on, what the deny list contains, and so on) and the default keybind for locking the trash slot could not be confirmed from the available sources.

Which TrashSlot config options matter?

TrashSlot keeps all of its settings in one file. They mostly decide how safe or how fast deleting items feels, so here is what this pack sets each one to.[4]

  • instantDeletion is false in this pack. When it is on, the deletion slot deletes items instantly, like Creative Mode. The mod's trash slot also keeps the last deleted item, so you can take it back out if you made a mistake.[1][4]
  • allowDeletionWhileTrashSlotIsInvisible is false in this pack. That means the delete keybinds do not work while the trash slot is hidden. The config file itself says turning this on is not recommended.[4]
  • enableDeleteKeysInCreative is true in this pack, so the delete keybindings also work in creative mode.[4]
  • deletionDenyList is empty in this pack, so no items are blocked from deletion. If you want to protect something, add it in the format "modid:name", comma-separated.[4]
  • enableHints is true in this pack. TrashSlot shows a hint the first time the trash slot is toggled off or can be enabled on a supported screen. Set it to false to turn the hints off.[4]
Watch out: With the delete keys enabled in creative, items deleted there are gone permanently, no matter what instantDeletion is set to.[4]
Tip: Press T to toggle the trash slot. The Delete key deletes the item under your cursor, and Shift+Delete deletes every item of the same type as the one under your cursor. Because the delete keys need a visible trash slot in this pack, keep it toggled on if you want to use them.[1][4]

What changed in TrashSlot between versions?

1 part

TrashSlot is at version 26.1.2.4 in FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0. It was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been here since at least then.[2]

TrashSlot 26.1.2.4

  • Fixed a missing language key in the Controls menu.[5]
  • Fixed harmless log warnings about refmaps.[5]

Both fixes are small. Nothing in this changelog mentions a gameplay change, so you don't need to relearn anything.[5]

Unverified The sources here include no FTB Evolution 2 pack changelog entries for this mod, so any pack-level changes to TrashSlot between releases are not shown.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as trashslot, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
