What is Time in a bottle?
2 parts
Time in a bottle lets you speed up blocks instead of waiting on them. If you're tired of watching a furnace smelt or wheat grow, this is the fix. You get a Time in a bottle item, let it store time, then click a tickable block like a furnace, crops or a brewing stand to accelerate it.[1]
This pack ships version 8.0.0 of the mod (the NeoForge build). It was already in the pack by 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]
How it works
- Get a Time in a bottle item, then wait for its stored time to increase. The bottle collects time passively.[1]
- Right click the block you want to speed up. For blocks like the furnace, use Shift and right click instead.[1]
- Click again to stack the effect: each click doubles the speed applied.[1]
According to the mod's own documentation, each click lasts 30 seconds, and the stored time it costs grows as you go up: x2 and x4 cost 30 seconds each, x8 costs 60, x16 costs 120, x32 costs 240 and x64 costs 480. Those figures come from the mod's documentation, and this pack's own settings are not shown in the sources here.[1]
Where it sits in the quest book
The sources here do not place this mod in any quest chapter or group, so there is nothing to say about what comes before or after it in the pack's quest book.[2]
How do you get started with Time in a bottle?
2 parts
Time in a bottle lets you speed up tickable blocks like furnaces, crops and brewing stands. The only item you need is Time in a Bottle, so getting started is short: make the bottle, let it collect time, then spend that time on a block.[1]
Step by step
- Craft the bottle. Its recipe was changed by the pack, so check the recipe block below rather than relying on what you remember from other packs.[3]
- Hold on to it and wait. The bottle passively collects time, and its tooltip shows your stored time and the total accumulated time.[1][4]
- Right click a tickable block with the bottle. For blocks like the furnace, use Shift right click instead.[1]
- Click again to stack more speed. Each click doubles the speed applied and lasts 30 seconds.[1][5]

The pack changed this recipe from the mod's own, so this is the one to follow.
What each click costs
Each doubling costs stored time. The first click (x2) costs 30 seconds, and so does the second (x4). After that the price doubles each time: x8 costs 60 seconds, x16 costs 120, x32 costs 240 and x64 costs 480.[1]
The pack's server config keeps the click duration at 30 seconds (each_use_duration). The cap on stacking is max_rate_multi, set to 8, which means up to 2^8 = 256 times faster. A bottle can hold at most 622,080,000 ticks (max_stored_time), and ticks_const is set to 20.[5]
Unverified Whether the pack's quest book introduces this mod is not shown in the sources here, and none of the quest sources provided involve it.
How does Time in a bottle work?
6 parts
Time in a Bottle from Time in a bottle does not make you faster. It speeds up the blocks you use it on. It stores time, and you spend that time to make a block tick faster.[1]

The pack changed this crafting recipe from the mod's own version.
Storing time
The bottle collects time passively, so once you have one you wait for its stored time to go up. The tooltip shows two values: the stored time you can spend, and the total accumulated time. A creative bottle shows a separate Creative Bottle line.[1][4]
The pack caps stored time with max_stored_time, set to 622,080,000 ticks. The tick-to-second conversion uses ticks_const, set to 20 ticks.[5]
Speeding up a block
Right click a tickable block with the bottle. Furnaces, crops and brewing stands are the examples the mod gives. For blocks like the furnace you need to Shift right click instead. Each click doubles the speed applied to that block, and each use lasts 30 seconds.[1]
In this pack the use length is set by each_use_duration, which is 30 seconds.[5]
What each click costs
Every doubling costs stored time, and the cost grows as you stack clicks. These are the costs the mod lists:[1]
- x2: 30 seconds[1]
- x4: 30 seconds[1]
- x8: 60 seconds[1]
- x16: 120 seconds[1]
- x32: 240 seconds[1]
- x64: 480 seconds[1]
The pattern keeps going past x64. The cap is max_rate_multi, set to 8 in this pack. That means 2^8, or 256 times faster at most.[1][5]
Blocks that cannot be accelerated
The mod has a block tag of things it will not accelerate. It contains the chest and the grass block.[6]
Admin command
The mod has one command for changing a bottle's time: /tiab with addTime or removeTime, followed by a number of seconds. It is handy for testing or fixing a bottle.[1]
How do you progress through Time in a bottle?
1 part
Time in a bottle has no tier ladder in this pack. The sources show only the Time in a Bottle item and its recipe, so there is nothing to upgrade through.[3]

The pack changed this recipe, so craft it the way shown here, not the way the mod does by default.
Blocks it cannot speed up
The mod's own data includes a block tag called un_acceleratable. It lists chests and grass blocks, so those are the blocks the mod marks as not acceleratable.[6]
Which Time in a bottle config options matter?
Time in a bottle keeps its settings in a server config file, and this pack sets every option in it. Here is exactly what you get.[5]
- each_use_duration is 30. It is the duration of each use, in seconds, and the mod page says each click lasts 30 seconds.[1][5]
- max_rate_multi is 8. It sets the maximum time the items can be used continuously, which corresponds to the maximum speed multiplier. The config's own example is 2^8=256.[5]
- max_stored_time is 622,080,000. This is the most time a bottle can store, counted in ticks.[5]
- ticks_const is 20. It is the ticks constant, in ticks.[5]
The stored time cap (622,080,000), the ticks constant (20) and the use duration (30) match the example config on the mod page. So for those options the sources do not show the pack changing anything.[1][5]
What changed in Time in a bottle between versions?
1 part
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Time in a bottle at version 8.0.0, using the file tiab-neoforge-8.0.0.jar. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a new addition in this release.[2]
Mod changelog
- 8.0.0: the mod was updated to Minecraft 26.3. The changelog lists no additional changes, so there are no new features or balance tweaks to learn for this version.[7]
Unverified Whether any FTB Evolution 2 release changelog changed this mod's behaviour or settings is not shown by the sources here. Check the pack's own release changelogs for that.
