What is TerraBlender?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

This pack includes TerraBlender version 4.1.0.8, shipped as the NeoForge 1.21.1 build (TerraBlender-neoforge-1.21.1-4.1.0.8.jar).[1]

It has been in the pack for a while: the mod list shows it was first included in version 0.32 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe in detail what TerraBlender does, and the mod has no in-jar guidebook to draw on, so this page doesn't go further than the version and history above.

How do you get started with TerraBlender?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide

Unverified The sources for this guide show no recipes, items or quests for TerraBlender, so there is no confirmed first item to craft and no crafting order to give.

What the pack does give us is the mod's config file. That is the one place to look when you want to know how TerraBlender is set up here. The first thing worth knowing is that the file covers biome regions from each mod that uses TerraBlender, in the Overworld, the Nether and the End.[2]

Overworld and Nether settings

End settings

The End has its own biome size options. In this pack, end.island_biome_size is 2, end.edge_biome_size is 3, and both end.highlands_biome_size and end.midlands_biome_size are 4.[2]

The weights for the vanilla End biomes are all set to 10 here: end.vanilla_end_highlands_weight, end.vanilla_end_midlands_weight, end.vanilla_end_barrens_weight and end.vanilla_small_end_islands_weight.[2]

Tip: These are the values the pack ships with, so check them in config/terrablender.toml before you change anything. The file's own comments only describe each option as a size or a weight, so I can't say more about how a change will play out.[2]

How does TerraBlender work?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

This is a short section on purpose. For TerraBlender in this pack, the only material I have is a handful of data files from the mod's own jar. There is no guidebook, no config file and no recipe that produces the mod's items, so I can't walk you through machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation. Here is what the files do show.[3][4][5]

Dimension type tags

The mod ships dimension type tags named overworld_regions and nether_regions. The first lists the Overworld (minecraft:overworld) and the second lists the Nether (minecraft:the_nether). Both have "replace" set to false.[4][5]

  • overworld_regions: contains minecraft:overworld.[5]
  • nether_regions: contains minecraft:the_nether.[4]

The deferred placeholder biome

TerraBlender also includes a biome file named deferred_placeholder. It is a bare-bones biome: no carvers, no features, no spawn costs, and empty lists for every spawner category (ambient, axolotls, creature, misc, monster, underground water creature, water ambient and water creature).[3]

Its climate values are a temperature of 0.5 and a downfall of 0.5, and it has no precipitation. For ambience it uses the minecraft:ambient.cave mood sound with a tick delay of 6,000, a block search extent of 8 and an offset of 2.0. It also defines its own sky, fog, water and water fog colours.[3]

How do you progress through TerraBlender?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

TerraBlender has no tier ladder in this pack. It is a world generation library, and the data available for it describes no tiers, so there is no progression order to lay out.[3][4][5]

What the mod's data does show

The mod's own data defines a region tag for the Overworld dimension type and a region tag for the Nether dimension type. That is the extent of what the files say about where it applies.[4][5]

It also ships a deferred placeholder biome. That biome has a temperature of 0.5 and a downfall of 0.5, with no precipitation. Its feature list is empty, and so are its carvers and every mob spawner category. So the placeholder doesn't add anything you would find or fight in the world.[3]

Unverified Quest chapters, crafting tiers and in-pack recipes for this mod are not shown by the sources here. If the pack's quest book covers it, that is where the detail would be told.

Which TerraBlender config options matter?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 2.12 guide

TerraBlender is a library mod that lets other mods add their own biomes to the Overworld, the Nether and the End. Its config file is short, and the options you're most likely to care about control how big those biome regions are and how heavily vanilla biomes are weighted. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[2]

Overworld and Nether

The End

The End has its own biome size options, one for each part of the dimension.[2]

The vanilla End biome weights are all set to 10. That covers end.vanilla_end_barrens_weight, end.vanilla_end_highlands_weight, end.vanilla_end_midlands_weight and end.vanilla_small_end_islands_weight.[2]

Unverified The sources only show the values this pack uses, not TerraBlender's own defaults, so it is unverified which of these options the pack changed from the mod default.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as terrablender, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
