Paragliders is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 26.1.2. BotW style Paraglider (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)

What is Paragliders?

3 parts

Paragliders brings the Paraglider from Breath of the Wild into Minecraft, along with the systems built around it. You hold the glider in your hand, jump off somewhere high, and glide down. It is a great way to get around without needing a flashy modded mount.[1]

This pack ships Paragliders 26.1.2, the NeoForge build, and it has been in the pack since version 1.0.2 or earlier.[2]

What the mod adds

  • Paragliders: a handheld item you can dye. Fires create updraft wind, so you can ride it up to gain height. Look for rising wind particles while you hold the glider.[1]
  • Deku Leaf: an alternative skin for the paraglider. It is purely cosmetic.[1]
  • Stamina system: gliding uses stamina, modeled after Breath of the Wild. It can be disabled in the config, or extended so that running and swimming use stamina too.[1]
  • Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels: collect four Spirit Orbs and trade them at a Goddess Statue for an upgrade of your choice. The statues are mainly found around villages.[1]
  • A more sinister statue also turns up rarely in villages or buried underground. It buys your hearts or stamina vessels for money, and offers buyback too.[1]

Where Spirit Orbs come from

Spirit Orbs can be found in ancient ruins, hidden treasures and temples, and in machines that summon endless forces of evil. A buried bronze chamber full of trials also rewards them. For a more direct route, you can fight the Dragon or the Three-headed Beast of Hell, or save a village from an attack.[1]

Config options

The mod has plenty of config options. You can add durability to paragliders and adjust their horizontal speed. You can change the maximum number of Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels, and the starting health and stamina. You can add custom bargain recipes for the statues, or switch off statues and upgrades entirely, including a single drop or a single kind of vessel. Wind sources can be changed through block tags or blockstates. Because the pack can change any of these, check the pack's own config before assuming the mod defaults.[1]

How do you get started with Paragliders?

5 parts

Paragliders adds a Breath of the Wild style glider, plus a stamina system that powers it. Getting started is quick: craft the glider, learn how its stamina works, then look at upgrades.[1]

This is the in-pack recipe for the glider, so start here.

The Paraglider is a handheld item. Hold it in your hand and jump off a height to glide. It can also be dyed.[1]

In this pack your Paraglider wears out. paragliderDurability is set to 2,500, while the mod default is 0, which would disable durability.[4]

Learn the stamina wheel

Gliding uses stamina, and that is what limits your flight time. vessels.startingStamina is 1,000 in this pack, and one full stamina wheel equals 1,000 stamina.[4]

stamina.paraglidingConsumesStamina is true, so paragliding drains the wheel. stamina.runningAndSwimmingConsumesStamina is false, so running and swimming do not consume stamina.[4]

Tip: Fires create updraft wind, and you can ride it to gain height. Hold the Paraglider and look for rising wind particles. Updrafts are switched on in this pack.[1][4]

Optional: a Deku Leaf skin

    Elixirs

The mod also adds the Enduring Elixir and the Energizing Elixir, plus an Enduring Mixture and an Energizing Mixture. Here are the mixture recipes.[3][5]

        Upgrades from the Goddess Statue

Longer flights come from upgrades. You exchange 4 Spirit Orbs at a Goddess Statue, which is mostly found around villages. Village structures from the mod are enabled in this pack.[1][5][6]

Stamina Vessels are the upgrade that matters here. vessels.staminaIncreasePerVessel is 200, so each one adds 200 stamina, and vessels.maxStaminaVessels is 10, so you can consume up to 10 of them.[4]

Watch out: The pack's config turns off many of the usual Spirit Orb sources: orbs in chests and the Elder Guardian drop are off. Trial, ominous trial and spawner orb drops are set to 0. Wither, Ender Dragon and raid vessel rewards are off too.[4]

Heart Containers are also switched off in this pack: features.heartContainers is false and vessels.maxHeartContainers is 0. Stamina Vessels stay enabled.[4][6]

        How does Paragliders work?

        8 parts

Paragliders has no machines, multiblocks, power or fluids. Everything revolves around three systems: the glider itself, a stamina meter that fuels it, and Goddess Statues where you trade Spirit Orbs for upgrades. Here is how each one behaves in this pack.[1]

The Paraglider and the Deku Leaf

The Paraglider is a handheld item. Hold it and jump off a ledge to glide. It can be dyed, and the Deku Leaf is a purely cosmetic alternative skin. The Deku Leaf and the Paraglider are both in the mod's paragliders item tag.[1][7]

In this pack gliders wear out. paragliderDurability is set to 2,500, where the mod default is 0, which disables durability. Horizontal glide speed is controlled by paraglidingSpeed, and the pack leaves it at 1, the mod default. A value of 0.5 would mean half speed and 2.0 double speed.[4]

        Updrafts

Fires create updraft wind that you can ride to gain height. Look for rising wind particles while you hold a glider. updraft is true in this pack, so wind sources generate updrafts. Wind sources and the height of the updraft can be adjusted with datapacks.[1][4]

Copper grates, including the exposed, weathered, oxidized and waxed variants, are in the tag of blocks that wind can pass through. If you want to build a wind shaft, they are the blocks to use.[8]

If the particles bother you, the mod has a wind particle frequency setting that runs from 0% to 100%.[5]

        Stamina

Gliding costs stamina. stamina.paraglidingConsumesStamina is true in the pack. stamina.runningAndSwimmingConsumesStamina is false, so running and swimming are free. If you change either option, run /paraglider reloadPlayerStates afterwards.[4]

One full stamina wheel equals 1,000 stamina. You start with 1,000 (vessels.startingStamina). Each Stamina Vessel adds 200 (vessels.staminaIncreasePerVessel), and you can consume up to 10 of them (vessels.maxStaminaVessels). All three match the mod defaults.[4]

The mod also adds attributes for Max Stamina, Stamina Recovery, and Stamina Efficiency, which has separate paragliding, running and swimming versions. There is a matching Stamina Efficiency effect as well.[5]

You can move and resize the stamina wheel through the Paraglider Settings key. Drag the wheel to position it, press 1 to 3 to change its size, and press 4 to cycle the extra stamina states. The settings are saved in a file called paragliderSettings.nbt, which you can copy into other instances.[5]

        Elixirs and mixtures

The mod has Energizing Mixture and Enduring Mixture, plus the elixirs Energizing Elixir and Enduring Elixir. Elixir tooltips mention restoring stamina wheels, giving extra stamina wheels, and making stamina use more efficient for a number of seconds.[3][5]

Both elixirs also have recipes for smelting, smoking and campfire cooking, so a furnace, smoker or campfire can all produce them.[3]

        Spirit Orbs and Goddess Statues

You collect four Spirit Orbs and exchange them at a Goddess Statue for an upgrade of your choice. The statue comes in four cosmetic variants: Goddess Statue, Goddess Statue, Goddess Statue and Goddess Statue. All four are in the same goddess statue tag, and the mod has cosmetic recipes for each skin.[1][3][5][9]

The upgrades are Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels, but in this pack Heart Containers are switched off. features.heartContainers is false and vessels.maxHeartContainers is 0 (the mod default is 20). features.staminaVessels stays true. You keep the starting health of 10 hearts (vessels.startingHearts). The Anti-Vessel item retrieves all Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels you have consumed.[4][5][6]

Where Spirit Orbs come from in this pack

The pack turns off most of the mod's orb sources, so check these options before you go hunting.[4][6]

        Finding statues in the world

Goddess Statues are mainly found around villages, and features.villageStructures is true in the pack. That option only affects village structures, not the ones generated elsewhere. The mod adds a separate Tarrey Town goddess statue structure in plains and meadow biomes, with a spacing of 128 and a separation of 16.[1][6][10][11][12]

The mod also has a rarer Horned Statue, which is a separate item from the Goddess Statues. The project page says it trades hearts or stamina vessels for money and offers buyback. It comes in two world versions:[1][13]

        • Underground: spacing 16 and separation 4, in a long list of biomes that includes plains, desert, swamp, forests, mountains, oceans and the dripstone and lush caves.[14][15][16]
        • Nether: spacing 32 and separation 8, in nether wastes, soul sand valley and warped forest, at heights from 32 up to 2 below the top.[17][18][19]

Towers of the Wild and debug options

paragliderInTowersOfTheWild is set to DEFAULT. With that value, ocean tower chests get a Deku Leaf and normal tower chests get a Paraglider. You can ignore this option if Towers of the Wild is not installed.[4]

The common config also has debug switches for player movement and for tracing bargain, movement, vessel and wind packets, plus verbose wind source loading. They are all false, and you will not need them for normal play.[6]

How do you progress through Paragliders?

        3 parts

Here is the honest picture for Paragliders in this pack: the files I can see don't lay out a tier ladder with stamina numbers. What they do show is the gliding gear you can make, the mixture and elixir lines, and the statues you can find in the world. That is the path I'll walk you through.[3][7]

        Your gliders

Both the Paraglider and the Deku Leaf belong to the paragliders item tag, so the mod treats them as the same kind of gear. The Paraglider has a normal shaped crafting recipe in the pack, shown below.[3][7]

The Deku Leaf is different. The recipes I can see for it are a paraglider:cosmetic recipe and a dyeing recipe. The Paraglider also has a cosmetic recipe and a dyeing recipe alongside its shaped recipe.[3]

        Mixtures and elixirs

The pack has an Enduring Mixture line and an Energizing Mixture line. Each mixture is made with a shapeless crafting recipe.[3]

            Statues in the world

The mod has several goddess statue blocks: Goddess Statue, Goddess Statue, Goddess Statue and Goddess Statue. Each one drops itself when broken. They also have their own cosmetic recipes.[3][9][20][21][22][23]

A Tarrey Town goddess statue structure generates in plains and meadow biomes. It is placed with a spacing of 128 and a separation of 16.[10][11][12]

Horned statues also generate underground. That version is placed with a spacing of 16 and a separation of 4. It can appear in a long list of biomes, including oceans, rivers, beaches, forests, deserts, swamps, dripstone caves and lush caves.[14][15][16]

There is also a Nether version of the horned statue. It is placed with a spacing of 32 and a separation of 8, and it can appear in nether wastes, soul sand valleys and warped forests.[17][18][19]

            Which Paragliders config options matter?

            4 parts

Paragliders is fairly light on config, but this pack changes a few things that shape how you progress. Most of them sit in the server config, with a handful of feature toggles in the common config.[4][6]

            What the pack changed

            Feature toggles

In the common config, features.heartContainers and features.spiritOrbGens are both false. Spirit Orbs are not generated in chests or dropped by spawners, and Heart Containers are removed from the game. features.staminaVessels and features.villageStructures stay true, so Stamina Vessels and the mod's village structures are still around.[6]

The mod describes the Goddess Statue as the place where you trade four Spirit Orbs for an upgrade, and says she is primarily found around villages. Note that the bargain recipes for Heart Containers and Stamina Vessels persist even with Spirit Orb generation turned off.[1][6]

Other Spirit Orb and vessel sources

These are all set to false in the server config: spiritOrbs.spiritOrbLoots (Spirit Orbs in chests), spiritOrbs.elderGuardianDropsSpiritOrb, spiritOrbs.witherDropsVessel, spiritOrbs.enderDragonDropsVessel, spiritOrbs.enderDragonVesselSpawnsOnPodium and spiritOrbs.raidGivesVessel. So the Elder Guardian, Wither, Ender Dragon and raids do not give out these rewards in this pack.[4]

            Stamina and gliding

Tip: If you edit either stamina option, run /paraglider reloadPlayerStates afterwards so the change applies to players.[4]

The debug options in the common config, such as debug.debugPlayerMovement and debug.verboseWindSourceLoading, are all false, so you can leave them alone.[6]

What changed in Paragliders between versions?

            1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Paragliders version 26.1.2. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it isn't a new addition in this release.[2]

            Paragliders 26.1.2

The changelog for the version in your pack is short and only covers language support:[24]

            • A French translation, contributed by Arona74.[24]
            • A Russian translation, contributed by TheAnaxMan.[24]

Nothing in that changelog mentions gameplay changes, so there is nothing to relearn if you played an earlier pack version.[24]

Unverified The sources here include no pack changelog entries for Paragliders, so whether the pack changed anything about this mod between its releases is not shown.
