What is NetherPortalFix?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

NetherPortalFix makes Nether portals remember where you came from. On a multiplayer server, the 8:1 block ratio between the Nether and the Overworld can drop you out of a different portal than the one you entered, sometimes inside another player's base. This mod fixes that.[1]

It keeps track of which portals a player went through. As long as you return through the same portal you used to leave, you end up where you started. The 1:8 ratio stays the same, so the portals are just smarter.[1]

Who it is for

It matters most if you play on a server and build close to other people, because it keeps you out of someone else's base when you come back from the Nether. It also works in singleplayer, so you don't lose anything by having it there.[1]

What to know about it in this pack

  • The pack includes NetherPortalFix 26.1.0.1 for NeoForge.[2]
  • It only needs to be installed on the server, but it works in singleplayer too.[1]
  • It requires the Balm library mod to be installed alongside it.[1]
  • There is nothing to craft and nothing to set up. The portals simply behave better.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't place this mod on the ATM Star path or tie it to any quest or progression step in the pack. Treat it as a quality-of-life fix that works in the background.

How do you get started with NetherPortalFix?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Good news: NetherPortalFix needs no setup. There is nothing to craft first. You build your Nether portals the way you normally do, and the mod works in the background.[1]

What the mod does

Normally the 8:1 block ratio between the Nether and the Overworld can send you back through a different portal than the one you entered. On a multiplayer server, that can drop you into another player's base. This mod fixes that by keeping track of which portals you went through.[1]

The 1:8 ratio itself stays the same. Your portals just get smarter and remember where you came from.[1]

What to do in practice

  1. Build your Overworld portal and travel to the Nether as normal.[1]
  2. When you want to go home, return through the same Nether portal you arrived by. As long as you use the same portal to return, you end up where you came from.[1]
  3. If you're setting up a server, install the mod on the server only. It also works in singleplayer.[1]
Tip: The mod keeps track of the portals you went through, so head home through the same portal you arrived in. As long as you use the same portal to return, you end up where you came from.[1]
Watch out: The mod requires Balm, which must be installed alongside it.[1]

Unverified No quests, recipes or items for this mod are documented in the available sources, so there is no crafting order to follow and nothing to unlock.

How does NetherPortalFix work?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

NetherPortalFix doesn't add machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item handling. It's a small fix to how Nether portal travel works, so there's nothing to set up or automate. The mod only changes where you come out when you travel back through a portal.[1]

The problem it solves

The Nether and the Overworld use an 8:1 block ratio. On a multiplayer server where you build near other players, you can go into a portal in the Overworld, come back through the same Nether portal, and end up at a different Overworld portal, maybe even in another player's base.[1]

How it works

The mod keeps track of which portals a player went through. When you return through the same portal, it sends you back to where you came from. The 1:8 ratio stays as it is. Portals just remember where you started.[1]

Tip: You need to use the same portal to return to the Overworld. As long as you do, you end up where you came from.[1]

Installation notes

  • The mod only needs to be installed on the server, though it also works in singleplayer.[1]
  • It requires Balm, which must be installed alongside it.[1]

Unverified Whether this pack changes the mod's behavior is unconfirmed. No config files, recipes, quests or in-game descriptions were available for this mod, so nothing beyond the behavior above is documented here. This site does hold FTB Evolution 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

What changed in NetherPortalFix between versions?

1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships NetherPortalFix version 26.1.0.1. The mod has been in the pack since 1.0.2 or earlier, so it isn't a new addition in this release.[3]

Mod release notes

  • 26.1.0.1: updated to Minecraft 26.1. This is the only change listed in the mod's changelog for that version.[4]

The pack runs the NeoForge build of this version, so you are on the Minecraft 26.1 update of the mod.[3][4]

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as netherportalfix, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
