What is MES - Moog's End Structures?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

MES - Moog's End Structures adds new structures to the End dimension. They are meant to blend in with the existing landscape and bring more life to the End.[1]

Each structure is built from vanilla blocks and entities, so it keeps that classic Minecraft feel. While exploring the End, you can expect unique challenges, tough enemies and valuable loot.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes MES - Moog's End Structures version 2.0.3.[2]

The mod's own page says it can be installed alongside Moog's Voyager Structures (MVS) for a richer experience, and that every aspect of the mod is customizable using datapacks. The sources here don't show whether this pack changes any of those settings.[1]

Tip: The mod can also be installed server-side only, which is handy to know if you play on a server.[1]

Unverified The sources here do not show a quest chapter, group or ATM Star path entry for this mod, so where the pack's quest book places it is not confirmed in this guide.

How do you get started with MES - Moog's End Structures?

1 part

MES - Moog's End Structures is a structure mod, so there is no starter item to craft. It adds new structures to the End dimension, so your first step is simply getting out there and exploring.[1][3]

The structures are built from vanilla blocks and entities, so they keep a classic Minecraft look and blend into the existing End landscape. Expect unique challenges, tough enemies and valuable loot as you explore.[1][3]

What to do first

  1. Get ready for the End as you normally would, with gear that can handle tough enemies.[3]
  2. Explore the End and keep an eye out for the new structures sitting among the vanilla terrain.[1][3]
  3. Check the loot in the structures you find, since valuable loot is part of what the mod adds.[1][3]
Tip: The mod is designed to run alongside Moog's Voyager Structures (MVS) for a richer experience. If you also see MVS structures in your world, that is by design.[1][3]

Unverified The sources here show no crafting recipes, quests or config files for this mod in this pack. Anything beyond exploring the End, such as how the quest book may point you toward it, is not confirmed here.

How does MES - Moog's End Structures work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

Here's the thing to know first: MES is a worldgen mod, not a tech mod. It fills the End with new structures built from vanilla blocks and entities, so there are no machines, multiblocks or power systems to learn. The mechanics that matter are where and how often those structures generate.[1][4]

Where structures can generate

Every structure I checked points at one shared biome tag. That tag accepts anything tagged as an End biome, plus the common tags for the End and for outer End islands. Those extra entries are marked as not required.[5][6][7][8]

All of these are surface structures. They are projected onto the world surface heightmap during worldgen, and the ones I checked require a minimum Y of 45.[6][7][8]

How often they appear

Each structure has its own structure set using the advanced random spread placement from the shared Moog's structures library. Each set has a spacing value, a separation value and a minimum distance from the world origin. In every set I checked, that minimum distance is 1,000.[9][10][11]

A few examples show how much the values vary:[10][11][12][13][14][15]

  • ruined_pillar: spacing 12, separation 7. This is the lowest spacing among the sets I checked.[10]
  • astral_meteorite: spacing 27, separation 12.[13]
  • enderpin_spikes: spacing 31, separation 8.[12]
  • ender_spire: spacing 46, separation 38.[14]
  • mega_ship: spacing 77, separation 15.[15]
  • mega_ship_deepslate: spacing 88, separation 65. This is the highest spacing among the sets I checked.[11]

The mega ship variants (basic, crashed, deepslate and their numbered versions) all use large spacing values, ranging from 72 for mega_ship_crashed_2 up to 88 for mega_ship_deepslate, so expect to travel for them.[11][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]

The shared library also has a rarity setting. Its tooltip says it multiplies the spacing of every Moog's structure, so higher means rarer and lower means more common. There is also a per-mod version of that multiplier. The sources don't show where those settings are stored or what their default values are.[22]

Terrain checks and placement

Most structures I checked use the same terrain rules: a height check radius of 1, an allowed terrain height range of 3, and thin beard terrain adaptation. A few differ:[6][7][8][23][24][25][26]

  • enderkeep_courtyard checks a radius of 2 and allows a terrain height range of 5, so it tolerates more uneven ground.[27]
  • enderwatch_tower allows a terrain height range of 4.[28]
  • enderpin_spikes uses no terrain adaptation and starts at an absolute height of 4, instead of 0 like the others.[6][29]

Customizing and installing

The mod's project page says every aspect of it can be customized with datapacks, and that a config pack template with full instructions exists. It also says the mod can be installed server-side only and can run alongside Moog's Voyager Structures.[1]

The project page also describes a compatibility datapack for Biomes O Plenty that swaps the style of some structures to use that mod's blocks.[1]

Unverified What each structure contains (its loot, its enemies and its layout) isn't confirmed by the data available for this guide.

How do you progress through MES - Moog's End Structures?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

This mod is all about exploring, not crafting. Nothing in the sources gives it a recipe or a tier ladder, so there are no tiers to climb. What it gives you is a set of End structures to hunt down, and the placement rules below tell you how far out you need to go.[5][9]

Where the structures can generate

The mod has a biome tag for its End structures. It includes everything in the vanilla End biome tag, plus the common End and outer End island tags when those exist.[5]

Every structure set listed here uses the same placement type and a minimum distance from world origin of 1,000. So you won't find any of them near the centre of the End. Head well out from the middle first.[9][12][13][14][30][31]

Structure spacing

Each structure has its own spacing and separation values, which tell you roughly how common it is. Smaller spacing means more frequent placement.[9][12][13][14][30][31]

  • Astral Hideaway: spacing 40, separation 18.[9]
  • Astral Meteorite: spacing 27, separation 12.[13]
  • Ender Spire: spacing 46, separation 38.[14]
  • Enderbloom Grove: spacing 36, separation 12.[30]
  • Enderkeep Courtyard: spacing 44, separation 25.[31]
  • Enderpin Spikes: spacing 31, separation 8.[12]

The Ender Spire has the largest spacing and separation of the six, so expect to travel further between spires. The Astral Meteorite and Enderpin Spikes have the smallest spacing, so they are the ones you should run into most often.[12][13][14]

What you can loot

One of the mod's loot tables, end_common, makes 2 to 4 rolls. The most likely results are chorus fruit (3 to 8 per stack) and iron ingots (2 to 5). It can also give you Ender Pearl (1 to 4), Lapis Lazuli and Experience Bottle. The rare results are an enchanted book, an End Crystal and a Shulker Shell, which is the least likely entry.[32]

The mod also has an archaeology loot table for End sand. Its most common result is End Stone. It can also give you Ender Pearl, pottery sherds and, rarely, a Shulker Shell.[33]

Tip: Both loot tables can give you a shulker shell, but it is one of the rarest results in each, so don't plan a shulker box build around them.[32][33]

What changed in MES - Moog's End Structures between versions?

1 part

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships MES - Moog's End Structures version 2.1.1. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a new addition in 1.1.0.[34]

Mod changelog

  • 2.1.1, the version in this pack: added Minecraft 26.3 support. That is the only entry in the changelog for this version.[34][35]

Unverified Whether the pack's own changelogs mention this mod is not shown in the sources here, so any pack-level changes to its structures or settings are unconfirmed. Check the FTB Evolution 2 release notes for that.
