What is Malisis Switches (Reborn)?

Malisis Switches (Reborn) is part of the pack's mod list. This pack ships version 1.0.8, built for NeoForge (file malisisswitchesreborn-neoforge-26.1.2-1.0.8.jar).[1]

It is not a new addition: it was already in the pack by version 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a good while.[1]

The sources I have for this pack do not describe what the mod's blocks and items do, and they do not show any recipes, configs or quests for it, so I am not going to guess. If that changes, this section will grow.[1]

How do you get started with Malisis Switches (Reborn)?

4 parts

Malisis Switches is all about controlling and reading redstone from a distance, and this pack has a full set of crafting recipes for it. Here is a good order to make things in, with the real in-pack recipes shown as we go.[2][3]

Greenstone first

Start with Greenstone. Its in-game description says it makes the redstone wireless, so it is the item to look at before you go remote. One craft gives you 2 Greenstone.[2][3]

A switch or a button

Next, make something to flip. The Switch is a compact switch that can control the redstone current from a distance. The Button is a standard button that does the same job.[2][3]

If you want to set the signal strength by hand, the Industrial Analog Slider manually sets redstone strength and can also control the current from a distance.[2][3]

Something to show the signal

A switch is more fun when you can see what it does. The Alarm Lamp is a red lamp that blinks while it detects a redstone signal. The Alarm Siren sounds repeatedly while it detects one.[2][3]

To read power levels, craft the Analog Voltmeter, an analog readout for monitoring redstone power levels. In game it is called the Analog Voltmeter.[2][3]

Going wireless

Once the basics work, make the Remote Transmitter. When you use it, the game shows messages such as Remote Linked, Links Cleared and Devices Activated, so you can follow what it is linked to. It also tells you Remote Link Limit Reached when it is full.[2][3]

Tip: Not sure what a block is doing? The mod has Jade options for switch state, redstone state, power level and pulse duration, so check the block with Jade.[3]

How does Malisis Switches (Reborn) work?

4 parts

Malisis Switches (Reborn) is a redstone toolkit. Everything in it is about sending, shaping, showing and wirelessly relaying redstone signals. The sources I have cover the mod's own names, tooltips and recipe list, so this section sticks to what those describe.[3]

Signal sources

The manual controls are the Switch, Button, Light Switch, Industrial Button and Industrial Lever. Their tooltips say they can control the redstone current from a distance. There is also a Small Industrial Lever, described as a compact industrial style lever.[3]

If you want more than on or off, the Industrial Analog Slider lets you manually set the redstone strength. When you use it, it shows a message with the slider output.[3]

Sensors and plates

The Motion Sensor (shown in game as Motion Sensor) detects selected entities and can control the redstone current from a distance. The Compact Motion Sensor is the compact variant. The mod has settings and messages for a motion sensor's detection mode, detection shape and sound, and it also provides matching Jade options.[3]

The Pressure Plate activates via selected entities, and the Weighted Pressure Plate is described as a standard heavy pressure plate. Both can also control the redstone current from a distance. The pressure plate has its own detection mode setting.[3]

Indicators and readouts

Output devices react to a redstone signal. The Alarm Lamp is a red lamp that blinks while it detects a signal, and the Alarm Siren sounds repeatedly while it detects one.[3]

Industrial LEDs come in red, orange, green, yellow and white. The steady versions activate while detecting a signal, and the blinking versions blink instead. The mod groups the steady LEDs under an item tag and the blinking LEDs under another.[3][4][5]

To read signal strength, use the Analog Voltmeter (the Analog Voltmeter). There are also compact versions: a Small Analog Voltmeter and a Small Digital Display.[3]

Going wireless

The wireless side starts with Greenstone, described as green dust from redstone with a bit of emerald that makes the redstone wireless. One craft gives you 2 of it.[2][3]

Crafting Shapeless

  • Redstone

Recipe id: malisisswitchesreborn:greenstone_dust

This is the in-pack recipe for Greenstone.

The Relay receives power directly or from linked devices and wirelessly outputs standard redstone. The Power Linker connects and configures compatible devices and blocks wirelessly, and it reports a Power Linker Mode when you use it.[3]

The Remote Transmitter links to compatible devices for remote activation. Sneak-right-click a device to link or unlink it, and sneak-right-click air to clear all links. Its tooltip shows how many devices are linked against a limit, and it tells you when you hit that limit. When you use it, it reports how many linked devices were activated.[3]

The Advanced Remote Transmitter links to compatible devices for cross-dimensional activation. The Greenstone Catalyst is a sculk-infused crystal used in advanced wireless transmission.[3]

Tip: The mod includes Jade options for switch state, redstone state, power level and pulse duration, which are handy when debugging a wireless setup.[3]

How do you progress through Malisis Switches (Reborn)?

6 parts

Malisis Switches (Reborn) is a set of switches, sensors, displays and alarms. In this pack the recipe list shows every item in the mod coming from a normal crafting recipe, some shaped and some shapeless. Below is the mod grouped by what each item does.[2]

Greenstone

Greenstone has a shapeless recipe that makes 2 per craft. Greenstone Catalyst has its own shaped recipe.[2]

Industrial LEDs

The industrial LEDs come in red, orange, green, yellow and white. The mod groups them in the industrial_leds item tag.[5]

The red Red Industrial LED can be crafted with a shaped recipe or with a shapeless recolouring recipe. The orange, green, yellow and white LEDs each have a shapeless recipe. The blinking LEDs follow the same pattern: red has a shaped recipe plus a shapeless recolouring recipe, and orange, green, yellow and white are shapeless.[2]
