What is Malisis Doors (Reborn)?

FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Malisis Doors (Reborn) at version 1.0.15. It has been in the pack since FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the mod list rather than a recent addition.[1]

The sources I have for this pack cover only the mod list entry, so I can't tell you more about what the mod adds or how it is configured here. Anything beyond the version and the pack history would be a guess, so I've left it out.[1]

How do you get started with Malisis Doors (Reborn)?

4 parts

Malisis Doors (Reborn) adds a lot of doors, trapdoors and fence gates, plus curtains, access cards and forcefield pieces. Every item below has a crafting recipe in this pack, and the recipe blocks show the exact ingredients, so you can follow along in the same order.[2][3]

Start with the simple wooden and metal doors

Wood types like Acacia Door, Bamboo Door, Birch Door, Cherry Door, Crimson Door and Dark Oak Door each come with a door, a trapdoor and a fence gate in this pack. These are shapeless recipes.[2]

Move on to shaped recipes that make several at once

Some items are worth crafting in bulk when you are fitting out a whole base: Airlock Door, Garage Door, Factory Door and Camo Door. Curtains such as Black Curtain are in the same group. The recipe blocks below show each one.[2]

Bigger and fancier builds

The Carriage Door and Medieval Door are the bigger builds, and both use the mod's own malisisdoorsreborn:big_door recipe type. The Door Factory has its own recipe too.[2]

Unverified How the Door Factory, access cards and forcefield pieces behave in play is not shown by the sources here. No quests in this pack involve the mod, there are no config files for it, and no in-jar guidebook was found.

How does Malisis Doors (Reborn) work?

      4 parts

The sources for this mod cover three things worth knowing: how the Door Factory builds custom doors, what happens to a door when you break it, and how some of the recipes in this pack behave.[3][4][5]

      The Door Factory

The Door Factory has its own screen with a Create mode and a Modify mode. In Create mode you press Create Door to make a new door. In Modify mode you pick a Door to Modify and press Modify Door to change one you already have.[3]

The screen has settings for Frame Type, Materials and Bottom Block Material. It also has a Digicode option and a Movement setting. The movement types listed include Accordion, Curtain, Disintegrating, Dissolving, Rotating Around, Rotating and Sliding, Rotating, and Rotating Up/Down.[3]

      • Auto-Close: the in-game tooltip says this is the time in ticks before the door closes by itself.[3]
      • Double Door: the tooltip says it opens together with a matching adjacent door.[3]

When you break a finished Custom Door, the item you get back keeps its DoorFactory data. Your design comes with the door instead of being lost.[5]

      Breaking and picking up doors

For doors, the loot tables only drop the item when the lower half is broken. This applies to the Acacia Door, the Airlock Door, the curtains such as the Black Curtain, the Bostwick Gate and the Bunker Door.[4][6][7][8][9]

Fence gates and trapdoors such as the Acacia Fence Gate and Acacia Trapdoor drop themselves as long as they survive an explosion.[10][11]

The Camo Door, Camo Fence Gate and Camo Trapdoor copy their stored Camo data onto the dropped item. Pick one up and the disguise you gave it is still there when you place it again.[12][13][14]

The Forcefield Cell has an empty loot table, so breaking it drops nothing.[15]

      Access cards

The mod has a run of access cards, from Access Card 01 up to Access Card 05, plus an Access Card Reader. There is also a Door Access option for the Jade tooltip plugin.[2][3]

      Crafting notes

Some recipes in this pack make several doors at once, and the Carriage Door and Medieval Door use a special recipe type from the mod.[2]

The Carriage Door uses the mod's own big_door recipe type, not the normal crafting grid type. The Medieval Door does too.

How do you progress through Malisis Doors (Reborn)?

        2 parts

Here's the honest picture for this pack: there's no quest-driven tier ladder for Malisis Doors (Reborn) that I can show you. What the recipe data does confirm is how the doors are crafted, so this section sticks to that and doesn't invent a tier order.[2]

Unverified No quests in this pack involve this mod, and the sources here show no quest chapter or order that places it in the pack's progression. Check the pack's quest book yourself if you want to know where doors might fit in your run.

        What the recipes tell you

The recipe data lists 76 shaped crafting recipes and 72 shapeless crafting recipes that make items from this mod, each with a different result. Most of the mod's items are crafted by hand, so you don't need a special machine to get started.[2]

A pack change to know about

The shaped Jail Door recipe is marked as changed by the pack, so don't rely on the mod's default. It makes 3 Jail Doors. The recipe below is the in-pack version.[2]

        Recipe id: malisisdoorsreborn:jail_door

This is the pack's version of the Jail Door recipe.

There's also a shapeless Jail Door recipe, and a separate recipe that turns a Jail Swing Door into a Jail Door.[2]

Tip: Curtains can be crafted in 3s, and the dyeing recipes let you recolour a curtain, so you don't need a fresh craft every time you change your mind about colour.[2]
