Macaw's Windows in FTB Evolution 2

Macaw's Windows is a decoration mod, and it is all about windows. You get lots of windows that can be opened, closed or locked, so your builds can have ones that actually work.^[1]

It also adds a lot of other building pieces for your walls and frames. That includes blinds, mosaic glass, mosaic glass panes, one way glass, parapets/sills, gothic windows, shutters, curtains and arrow slits, plus more besides.^[1]

In this pack

The pack ships Macaw's Windows 2.4.2. It has been in the pack since 0.0.1 or earlier, so it is a long-standing part of the mod list.^[2]

The sources I have for this mod only cover what it adds and which version the pack uses. They say nothing about quests, so I won't claim a place for it in the quest book. This page also has no recipes or config options to show, because none were provided.^[1][2]

In this pack, the items below are all made with shaped crafting recipes, and you can see each one in the blocks further down.^[1][3]

First, make a basic window

Start with a plain window in a wood type you already have. The Resizeable Acacia Window is the resizeable version, and the Rectangle Acacia Window is the rectangle version. The recipe list also has the same kinds of windows in birch, cherry, andesite, blackstone and bricks, so pick whatever matches your build.^[3]

Next, add a sill and some shutters

Once a window is in place, a parapet works as a sill and shutters go around it. Try the Acacia Parapet and the Acacia Shutter. The mod also has louvered shutters, like the Acacia Louvered Shutter.^[1][3]

Then, dress up the inside

For interiors, make blinds with the Acacia Blinds, or hang curtains from a rod such as the Acacia Curtain Rod. Curtains come in colors, for example the Blue Curtain. The mod also has mosaic glass, like the Blue Mosaic Glass.^[1][3]

Changing shape and locking

The mod has a hammer that you right click on a window to change its shape. It also has a key that you right click on a window to lock it.^[4]

Macaw's Windows is a decorative mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks or power systems to learn here. Its project page describes it as windows that can be opened, closed or locked, plus blinds, mosaic glass, mosaic glass panes, one way glass, parapets and sills, gothic windows, shutters, curtains and arrow slits.^[1]

The sources here do not explain how opening, closing or locking works in play, so check those in a test world before you build anything big. The mod also has a Window Hammer and a Window Key, but the sources I have do not say what they do.^[1][5]

Crafting works in batches

Nearly everything in this mod is made at a crafting table. In this pack, 331 shaped crafting recipes make items from this mod, and every one of them has a different result. The yield changes by block type, so look at what you get before you craft a big stack.^[6]

What drops when you break them

Blinds, curtain rods, windows, parapets and shutters such as Acacia Blinds, Acacia Curtain Rod, Acacia Four Pane Window, Acacia Parapet and Acacia Louvered Shutter drop themselves when broken. The loot tables I can see for the other wood, stone and curtain variants do the same.^{[7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14]}

Macaw's Windows is a decorative mod, so there are no machines, power stages or tiers to climb. Everything in it comes from crafting recipes. The recipe data lists 331 shaped crafting recipes that make Macaw's Windows items, each with a different result. The base items add a few shapeless recipes on top.^[6]

What each recipe gives you

The better way to plan is by output per craft, because the amounts differ a lot between block types. Here is what the recipes in the pack produce.^[6]

• Resizeable windows, such as Resizeable Acacia Window and Resizeable Andesite Window, come out 4 per craft.^[6]
• Rectangle windows such as Rectangle Acacia Window, pane windows such as Acacia Pane Window and four pane variants such as Acacia Four Pane Window are the other window styles. Their recipes are shown below.^[6]
• Parapets, such as Acacia Parapet, come out 5 per craft.^[6]
• Shutters and louvered shutters, such as Acacia Shutter and Acacia Louvered Shutter, have recipes shown below. Bamboo Shutter is the exception to the usual shutter pattern.^[6]
• Curtain rods such as Acacia Curtain Rod, blinds such as Acacia Blinds and coloured curtains such as Black Curtain each have their own recipes, with examples below.^[6]
• Mosaic glass, such as Blue Mosaic Glass, comes out 8 per craft. The matching panes, such as Blue Mosaic Glass Pane, come out 16 per craft.^[6]
• Stone styles such as Blackstone Brick Arrow Slit (3 per craft) and Blackstone Gothic Window (4 per craft) follow the same pattern.^[6]
