What is Just Zoom?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mons 1.3.0 guide
Just Zoom is a small client-side quality-of-life mod that gives you a proper zoom key. Hold the hotkey and scroll your mouse wheel to adjust how far you zoom. This pack ships version 2.1.0, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[1][2]
It feels like looking through a spyglass, but you can zoom in further and you don't get the black bars and spyglass overlay blocking your view.[1]
What you get
- A zoom hotkey, Z or Y by default depending on your keyboard. You can rebind it in Minecraft's Controls settings.[1]
- Mouse wheel control over the zoom factor while you zoom.[1]
- Smooth zooming in and out, just like the spyglass. This is on by default and you can turn it off in the mod's options.[1]
- Normalized mouse sensitivity while zoomed, so the mouse doesn't feel like it's moving too fast.[1]
- A higher maximum zoom than the spyglass.[1]
Changing the options
The mod has in-game options. Open the Pause Screen and press the little spyglass button in the bottom-left corner.[1]
How do you get started with Just Zoom?
3 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Good news: there's nothing to craft to get started with Just Zoom. It's a client-side quality-of-life mod, and the first step is simply pressing a key.[1]
First, zoom with the hotkey
Hold the zoom hotkey, which is Z or Y by default depending on your keyboard layout. It feels a lot like looking through a spyglass, but you can zoom in further, and you don't get the black bars or the spyglass overlay blocking your view.[1]
Then adjust the zoom with your mouse wheel
While you're zooming, scroll your mouse wheel to change the zoom factor. By default the zoom eases in and out smoothly, just like the spyglass does. Your mouse sensitivity is also normalized while zoomed, so the camera doesn't feel like it's flying around.[1]
Finally, tweak it to your taste
- To change the hotkey, open Minecraft's Controls settings and rebind the zoom key there.[1]
- To change the mod's options, open the Pause Screen and click the little spyglass button in the bottom-left. This is also where you can disable the smooth zooming if you prefer.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't show any items, crafting recipes or quests for this mod in the pack, so there are no recipe blocks here. I also can't confirm whether the pack changes any of the mod's default options or keybinds.
How does Just Zoom work?
2 parts
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Just Zoom is a quality-of-life zoom mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation to learn here. Everything it does is about how your view zooms, and it's quick to pick up.[1]
How zooming works
- Press the zoom hotkey to zoom in. By default it's Z or Y, depending on your keyboard layout.[1]
- While zoomed, scroll your mouse wheel to adjust the zoom factor.[1]
- It feels like zooming with the spyglass, but it can zoom in further and has no black bars or spyglass overlay blocking your view.[1]
- Zooming in and out is smooth by default, like the spyglass. You can turn the smoothing off in the mod's options.[1]
- Your mouse sensitivity is normalized while you zoom, so the mouse doesn't feel like it's moving too fast.[1]
Changing the settings
To rebind the zoom hotkey, open Minecraft's Controls settings. For the mod's other options, open the Pause Screen and press the little spyglass button in the bottom-left corner.[1]
Unverified The sources don't show whether this pack changes any of Just Zoom's default options or keybinds, so treat the defaults above as the mod's own defaults and check the in-game options screen for the real values.
What changed in Just Zoom between versions?
FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships Just Zoom 2.1.4, the NeoForge build made for Minecraft 1.21.11.[3]
It isn't a new addition. The pack lists it as first included in FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so you have had it for at least that long.[3]
Unverified What changed in Just Zoom 2.1.4, or in earlier versions of the mod, isn't shown in the sources here. The pack changelogs have no entries for this mod, and the mod's own changelog is kept with the mod's project, so check there for the per-version details.
