What is JEI Recipe Pins?
This pack ships JEI Recipe Pins at version 1.3.0, and that is the version this guide describes. It was already in the pack by FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]
Unverified The sources available here do not describe what JEI Recipe Pins does. There is no platform description and no in-jar guidebook for it, so this guide makes no claims about its features or controls. Check the mod's own page or try it in game in the JEI recipe screen. This site does hold FTB Evolution 2's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.
How do you get started with JEI Recipe Pins?
3 parts
JEI Recipe Pins is a quality-of-life mod, so there is nothing to craft to get going. It lets you pin JEI recipes on screen, so you can keep a recipe in view while you gather the inputs for it.[2]
Pin your first recipe
- Open JEI and look up a recipe you want to follow.[2]
- Click the pin button next to the recipe. If nothing is pinned yet, the layout editor tells you exactly this: use the pin button next to a recipe in JEI.[2]
- Close JEI and keep playing. By default the pinned recipe is drawn over the world while no screen is open, and a display setting controls this.[2]
Controls to set up early
The mod adds its own group of key bindings called "JEI Recipe Pins" in your controls menu. It is worth checking them right away, because the sources here do not list any default keys.[2]
- Show/Hide Pinned Recipes: clears the pins off your screen without losing them.[2]
- Edit Pinned Recipes Layout: lets you rearrange where the pinned recipes sit.[2]
- Reset Pinned Recipe Layout: puts the pinned recipes back in the top left.[2]
The mod also has commands that unpin all recipes, hide or show them, and reset the layout. The command names are not in the sources here, so check in game.[2]
What the highlights tell you
The mod can tint the inputs of a pinned recipe that are neither in your inventory nor in the open container, so you can see at a glance what you are still missing. It can also tint the slots of an open container that hold an input of a pinned recipe.[2]
With an ME terminal open, inputs stored in the network count as found, and inputs the network can only autocraft are tinted blue instead of red.[2]
Unverified The mod has settings for the maximum number of pins, whether pins are kept per world or shared, and the size and position of the display. The sources here do not show their values or a config file for them in this pack, so check them in the game's mod settings.
How does JEI Recipe Pins work?
4 parts
JEI Recipe Pins lets you pin JEI recipes so they stay visible while you work. This page covers how pinning behaves, how the pins are drawn, and how the input highlighting works. The sources describe a recipe display tool, so there are no machines or multiblocks to set up here.[2]
Pinning recipes
To pin a recipe, use the pin button next to it in JEI. If nothing is pinned yet, the layout editor tells you so and points you to that button.[2]
There is a cap on how many recipes can be pinned at once. When you pin one more than the cap allows, the oldest pin is unpinned, so you never have to remove one by hand just to add a new recipe.[2]
Pins can be kept as one shared set, or as a separate set for every world and server. That is a setting in the mod's pin options.[2]
Where pins are drawn
Pinned recipes can be drawn over the world while no screen is open, so you can keep an eye on a recipe as you walk around. The display options control where and how large the pins are drawn.[2]
- In-world scale: the size of pinned recipes over the world, relative to their size inside a screen.[2]
- Left gap: a number of pixels kept free to the left of the pinned recipes.[2]
- Top gap: a number of pixels kept free above the first pinned recipe.[2]
Highlighting inputs
The mod can tint things to help you find the inputs of a pinned recipe. These are the highlight options.[2]
- Container slots: tints the slots of an open container that hold an input of a pinned recipe.[2]
- Missing inputs: tints the inputs of a pinned recipe that are neither in your inventory nor in the open container.[2]
ME networks get special treatment. With an ME terminal open, or a linked wireless terminal on you on a server that also has this mod, inputs stored in the network count as found. Inputs the network can only autocraft are tinted blue instead of red.[2]
Key bindings and commands
The mod adds its own key binding category, called JEI Recipe Pins, to the controls screen. It holds these keys:[2]
The mod also has commands that report these results: all recipes unpinned, pinned recipes hidden, pinned recipes shown, and pinned recipes moved back to the top left. If you run one before JEI has finished loading, it tells you that JEI has not finished loading yet.[2]
Unverified The pin limit, the gap sizes, the in-world scale and the default state of the highlight options are settings of the mod, but the sources here do not show any config file or default values for them. Check the mod's settings in game for the exact numbers.
Which JEI Recipe Pins config options matter?
3 parts
All of JEI Recipe Pins's settings live in one client file, and the ones you will want to know about are how many recipes you can pin, how pins are saved, and how they look over the world. Every value listed here is how this pack sets it.[3]
Pin count and saving
- pins.max_pins is 3 in this pack, the same as the mod default. It accepts 1 to 10. Pinning one more recipe unpins the oldest, so you only need to raise it if you juggle several crafts at once.[3]
- pins.per_world is true. Every world and server keeps its own separate set of pins instead of one shared set. The source does not show a mod default for this option.[3]
Highlighting
- highlight.container_slots is true. Slots in an open container that hold an input of a pinned recipe get tinted.[3]
- highlight.missing_inputs is true. Inputs of a pinned recipe that are neither in your inventory nor in the open container get tinted, so you can see at a glance what you still need.[3]
Display over the world
display.show_in_world is true, so pinned recipes are drawn over the world while no screen is open. Turn it off if you only want pins inside screens.[3]
- display.in_world_scale is 1, the mod default. It sets the size of pinned recipes over the world relative to their size inside a screen, and accepts 0.25 to 2.0.[3]
- display.left_gap is 4 pixels, the mod default, kept free to the left of pinned recipes. It accepts 0 to 200.[3]
- display.top_gap is 24 pixels, the mod default, kept free above the first pinned recipe. It accepts 0 to 200.[3]

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as jeirecipepins, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
