What is HoloSigns?

This pack includes HoloSigns at version 4.0.0, shipped as the file HoloSigns-26.1-4.0.0.jar. It has been in the pack since FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition to 1.1.0.[1]

Unverified The sources here do not show what HoloSigns does in detail. No in-jar guidebook was found for the mod, so there is no in-game guide text to draw on for this overview.

How do you get started with HoloSigns?

3 parts

HoloSigns adds glass signs to the pack. There is only one small family of items to learn: a standing sign and a hanging sign, each in plain glass and in stained glass colors. So your first steps are simple: make the plain versions, then branch out into colors.[2][3]

First: the plain glass sign

Start with the Glass Sign. It is the base version of the sign, and a single craft gives you 6 of them.[2]

Next: the plain glass hanging sign

Next, make the Glass Hanging Sign. It is the hanging counterpart of the first sign, and it also comes out 6 at a time.[2]

Then: pick your colors

Once you have the plain pair, you can move on to the stained glass versions. Each color has its own sign and its own hanging sign, and each has its own crafting recipe that makes 6. Here is one example of each type, using blue.[2][3]

The Blue Stained Glass Hanging Sign follows the same pattern.

The other colors work the same way. Look up the recipe for the color you want, for example the Red Stained Glass Sign or the Lime Stained Glass Hanging Sign, and you will find it also makes 6 per craft.[2]

Tip: Every craft makes 6 signs, so plan your colors before you craft in bulk.[2]

Unverified How the signs behave once placed, and any settings for them, are not shown in the sources used for this guide. The mod has no in-jar guidebook that we found, and no config file or quest for it was available here.

How does HoloSigns work?

3 parts

HoloSigns is a decorative mod, and the sources for this pack show no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation for it. What it adds is a set of glass signs, so this section covers what the sources do show: which sign types exist, how you craft them and what you get back when you break one.[2][3]

Sign types

Every sign comes in a plain glass version and in stained glass colours. Each one also has a standing or hanging form, and there are separate wall versions of both. For example, the language file lists a Glass Sign, a Glass Hanging Sign, a Glass Wall Sign and a Glass Wall Hanging Sign.[3]

Crafting

Each sign has its own shaped crafting recipe, and every recipe makes 6 signs at once. Here are the plain glass recipes.[2]

The stained glass colours each have a matching recipe in the same style, for example Cyan Stained Glass Sign and Cyan Stained Glass Hanging Sign. Each of those also makes 6 per craft.[2]

Breaking signs

When you break a Glass Sign or a Glass Hanging Sign, its loot table gives you back that same sign item. The only condition is that the block survives an explosion. The stained glass signs, such as the black and blue ones, have loot tables of the same shape, so you can pick your signs up and move them without losing them.[4][5][6][7][8][9]

Unverified The sources here show no config files for HoloSigns in this pack, so no settings for it are confirmed. Anything beyond crafting, placing and breaking the signs is not shown in the sources here.

How do you progress through HoloSigns?

2 parts

HoloSigns doesn't have a tier ladder you climb. What the pack gives you is a set of glass signs, and the only thing that changes from one to the next is the glass colour. Each colour comes as a standing sign and a hanging sign, so you can pick the style that suits your build.[2]

The plain glass tier

The plain Glass Sign and Glass Hanging Sign are the base versions. Both are shaped crafting recipes that make 6 signs per craft.[2]

The stained glass variants

Every stained glass colour has its own sign and hanging sign, each with its own recipe that also makes 6 per craft. The colours are white, orange, magenta, light blue, yellow, lime, pink, gray, light gray, cyan, purple, blue, brown, green, red and black. For example, Red Stained Glass Sign and Red Stained Glass Hanging Sign sit alongside the blue, green and every other colour.[2]

Check the recipe blocks above for the exact in-pack ingredients, and use the recipe viewer in game for any other colour you want.[2]

Tip: Signs drop themselves when broken. The loot table for the glass sign gives back the sign block itself, so you can move your signs around freely.[5]
