What is FTB XMod Compat?

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide

FTB XMod Compat is included in this pack at version 21.1.11, shipped as the NeoForge file ftb-xmod-compat-neoforge-21.1.11.jar. It has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it isn't a recent addition.[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what FTB XMod Compat does in detail, who it is aimed at, or where it fits in the pack's progression. I also can't confirm any quests, ATM Star path steps, recipes or config options tied to it, so I'm not guessing at them. Treat this as a background mod that you most likely won't need to deal with directly, and check back once more information is available.

How do you get started with FTB XMod Compat?

1 part

Welcome to FTB XMod Compat! In this pack the sources I have only show this mod's config file, so there is no crafting order to follow. What the config does show is which systems the mod hooks into, and those are the settings to know about when you start.[2]

The settings to know

  • currency_selector is set to "sg_economy_api" in this pack. The other valid value is "default", which uses Magic Coins if it is installed and otherwise has no currency plugin. The config notes this option is currently Neoforge-only.[2]
  • permission_selector is left at "default". That means FTB Ranks is used first, then Luckperms, depending on which mod is available. You can also force "ftb_ranks" or "luckperms".[2]
  • stage_selector is left at "default". That means KubeJS is used first, then Game Stages, then vanilla, depending on availability. The other valid values are "vanilla", "kubejs" and "gamestages".[2]
  • only_show_known_waystones is true, so only waystones you have discovered are shown. This is also the mod's default.[2]
Tip: The currency setting is the one this pack changed from the mod's default ("default") to "sg_economy_api". The config notes that this option is currently Neoforge-only. The other settings keep their default values.[2]

How does FTB XMod Compat work?

4 parts

For FTB XMod Compat, the pack's files show its config file and nothing about machines, multiblocks or power, fluid and item handling. The options in currency_selector and the keys next to it choose which other system the mod hooks into for currency, permissions, game stages and waystones.[2]

Currency

currency_selector picks the currency implementation. The valid values are "default" and "sg_economy_api". With "default", the mod uses Magic Coins if it is installed, and otherwise there is no currency plugin. The config notes that this option is currently NeoForge-only.[2]

This pack changes it from the default: it sets the value to "sg_economy_api". Keep in mind the config says this option is currently NeoForge-only.[2]

Permissions

permission_selector picks the permissions implementation. The valid values are "default", "ftb_ranks" and "luckperms". With "default", the mod tries FTB Ranks first and then LuckPerms, depending on which of them is installed. The pack leaves it on "default". The config's "currently NeoForge-only" note is on the currency option only, not on this one.[2]

Game stages

stage_selector picks the game stages implementation. The valid values are "default", "vanilla", "kubejs" and "gamestages". With "default", the mod tries KubeJS, then Game Stages, then vanilla, depending on which are available. The pack leaves it on "default". The config's "currently NeoForge-only" note is on the currency option only, not on this one.[2]

Waystones

only_show_known_waystones controls whether only waystones you have discovered are shown. It is set to true in the pack, which matches the default.[2]

Tip: If you want to change how the pack handles currency, permissions or stages, the selector keys in config/ftbxmodcompat.json5 are the ones to edit. Stick to the valid values listed above for each key.[2]

Which FTB XMod Compat config options matter?

2 parts

FTB XMod Compat has a small config file, and only one of its options is changed from the mod default in this pack. Here is what each option does and how the pack sets it.[2]

The one the pack changed

currency_selector is set to "sg_economy_api" in this pack. The mod default is "default", which uses Magic Coins if it is installed and otherwise uses no currency plugin. The valid values are "default" and "sg_economy_api", and the config notes that this option is currently NeoForge-only.[2]

The ones left at their defaults

  • only_show_known_waystones is true, the default. Only waystones that have been discovered are shown.[2]
  • permission_selector is "default", the default. That picks FTB Ranks first, then Luckperms, depending on which mod is available. You can also force "ftb_ranks" or "luckperms".[2]
  • stage_selector is "default", the default. That picks KubeJS, then Game Stages, then vanilla, depending on which mod is available. You can also force "vanilla", "kubejs" or "gamestages".[2]
Tip: If you edit the file yourself, remember that the currency option is the one the pack changed, and the config notes it is currently NeoForge-only. Setting it back to "default" switches to the mod's own behaviour: Magic Coins if it is installed, otherwise no currency plugin.[2]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as ftbxmodcompat, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
