FTB Quests in FTB Evolution 2
FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0 ships version 26.1.2.9 · First seen in 1.0.2
FTB Quests is a mod in FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0, where it is version 26.1.2.9. Questing Mod by FTB (Summary from the mod's Modrinth page.)
Stuck? Why it might not be working
- FTB Quests: the quest says 100%, or the task refuses what you haveTwo things account for most of this in All the Mods 10 8.2, and neither is the one people look for. A quest whose tasks are all done does not close itself — the pack turns auto-claim off, so it shows a button and waits. And a task matches on the item you have far more narrowly than its icon suggests: 858 of the book's item tasks display an item carrying specific data, and only 223 of them actually check it. The detection mechanisms are real but no reporter is recorded hitting one.Written for other versions than FTB Evolution 2 1.4.0 ships. Some steps may no longer match.

What is FTB Quests?
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide
This pack ships FTB Quests version 2101.1.36, the NeoForge build (file ftb-quests-neoforge-2101.1.36.jar). It has been in the pack since release 0.32 or earlier, so it is not a recent addition.[1]
The sources I have for this mod only cover its version and when it joined the pack. They don't describe its features or settings, so I'm not covering those here. I'm also not placing it in any quest chapter or group.[1]
How do you get started with FTB Quests?
3 parts
FTB Quests adds a small set of craftable items to this pack, and each one has an in-pack recipe. The recipe blocks below show exactly what this pack asks for, so open them rather than relying on memory of the mod's defaults.[2]
The Quest Book
The Quest Book is the first thing to craft. Its recipe is shapeless, so the ingredients can go anywhere in the crafting grid.[2]

Task Screens
Next come the Task Screens. Each size has its own shaped recipe: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Begin with the smallest one.[2]

A screen has its own settings, including Size, Skin and Task Index, plus toggles such as Fullscreen, Hide Icons, Indestructible and Input Only.[3]
The pack also has a Task Screen Configurator with its own shaped recipe.[2]

The larger screens are crafted from their own recipes too. Look them up in the recipe viewer when you want to move up a size.[2]
Loot Crate Opener
The last item is the Loot Crate Opener. Right-clicking it shows a "Stored items" count. It is crafted with a shaped recipe.[2][3]

How does FTB Quests work?
5 parts
FTB Quests is mostly a quest book, but it also adds a few blocks that connect quests to the world: task screens, a loot crate opener and several detectors. The sources here cover them only partly, so this section sticks to what they actually show.[2][3]
Task screens
Task screens come in these sizes: Task Screen (1x1), Task Screen (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7). Each has its own crafting recipe in the pack.[2]

When you break a screen, it drops as an item that keeps its saved task screen data. That applies to every size, so you can pick a configured screen up and move it without setting it up again.[4][5][6][7]
The mod's language file lists these screen options: Size, Skin, Task Index, Fullscreen, Hide Icons, Indestructible, Input Mode Icon, Input Only and Draw Text Shadows. If you don't have permission, the screen tells you that you can't configure it. There is also a Task Screen Configurator, which has its own recipe.[2][3]

Loot crates
The Loot Crate Opener keeps its stored loot crate items when you break it and pick it up. Right-clicking it shows how many items it is storing. The language file also names a separate Loot Crate Storage block.[3][8]

The pack adds its own behaviour on top. A server script grants the stage ftb:gambler_wares to a player who right-clicks a loot crate item.[9]
The entity type tag ftbquests:no_loot_crates ships empty in the mod, so it lists no entity types.[10]
Quest chest and detectors
The language file describes a Quest Chest with an input slot and an output slot. The input slot is for placing items to complete quests, and rewards appear in the output slot. The chest also has an Auto-Transfer All Items option.[3]
- Player Detector: its settings are Radius, Height and Offset Y.[3]
- Redstone Detector: it has a Required Redstone Level setting.[3]
- Quest Progress Detector: it has an Object ID and an Output Level.[3]
- Quest Barrier: it has an Object ID and an Invisible When Open option. Its teleport settings can be relative to the barrier block, and leaving the dimension empty teleports within the current dimension. A Stage Barrier block is also named in the language file.[3]
Quest progression and inventory checks
Progression mode can be Linear or Flexible. In Linear mode, a quest must be complete before the quests that depend on it are started. In Flexible mode, tasks in dependent quests can be progressed at any time, but those quests can't be completed until the dependency is.[3]
A detection delay setting controls the minimum number of ticks between checks of a player's inventory after it changes. Higher values are easier on server TPS, but quest auto-completion messages arrive later.[3]
Unverified The sources here do not show which progression mode or detection delay this pack uses. Those are file-level quest settings, and no config files for this mod are available.
Quest Book
You can craft the Quest Book in the pack. The language file also has an option for dropping the book on death.[2][3]
How do you progress through FTB Quests?
3 parts
The sources for this pack show FTB Quests only as a set of craftable items, so this section stays short. The Quest Book is the Quest Book. The task screens come in these sizes: Task Screen (1x1) (1x1), Task Screen (3x3) (3x3), Task Screen (5x5) (5x5) and Task Screen (7x7) (7x7). There are also the Task Screen Configurator and the Loot Crate Opener.[2]
