What is FTB Essentials?

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.6 guide

This pack includes FTB Essentials at version 2101.1.10, shipped as the NeoForge jar ftb-essentials-neoforge-2101.1.10.jar.[1]

It is not a recent addition: the mod was first included in version 1.0 of the pack or earlier, so it has been part of the pack for a long time.[1]

Unverified The sources available here do not describe what FTB Essentials does. No platform page or in-jar guidebook was found for it, so this guide does not list its features, commands or config options.

How do you get started with FTB Essentials?

3 parts

FTB Essentials is a commands mod, so there is nothing to craft to get started. What you get in this pack is a set of chat commands, and the pack's config decides which ones work and how often you can use them. Here is what the pack's config says.[2]

The commands are registered at the root, so you type them plainly, like /home. The option to also register them under the ftbessentials namespace is off.[2]

Getting around

The teleport commands are the ones you will use first. Here are the values this pack sets, with the mod default where the pack changed it.[2]

Random teleport

/rtp is enabled and the pack tightens it. It sends you between 500 and 2,500 blocks from the spawn point (teleportation.rtp.min_distance and teleportation.rtp.max_distance). The mod default maximum is 25,000.[2]

Your personal cooldown is 100 seconds, down from the default 600 (teleportation.rtp.cooldown). There is also a global cooldown of 200 seconds shared by all players, where the default is 0 (teleportation.rtp.global_cooldown). The End is blacklisted for /rtp (teleportation.rtp.dimension_blacklist). Players cannot choose their own distances (teleportation.rtp.allow_custom_min_max_distance is false).[2]

Tip: Server owners can override cooldowns, warm-ups and limits per rank with FTB Ranks, for example with ftbessentials.home.max or ftbessentials.rtp.cooldown. The config values above are the baseline.[2]

Other enabled commands

The utility commands anvil, crafting, enderchest, hat, near, nick, smithing, stonecutter, trashcan, leaderboard, rec and kickme are all enabled, for example misc.enderchest.enabled and misc.trashcan.enabled. The teleport commands back, home, jump, playerspawn, rtp, spawn, tpa, tpl, tpx and warp are enabled too.[2]

The admin commands are also switched on: extinguish, feed, fly, god, heal, invsee, kit, mute, speed and tp_offline, for example admin.heal.enabled. Admin-level players (permission level 2 or higher) are exempt from the teleport dimension blacklists (teleportation.admins_exempt_dimension_blacklists).[2]

Unverified What each utility and admin command does in detail is not shown in the sources here. Check the in-game command suggestions or the mod's config file to see how each behaves.

How does FTB Essentials work?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.2 guide

The sources for FTB Essentials only show a pair of data files that ship in the mod's own jar, both named "ignore_rtp". They are tag files, one for biomes and one for blocks. Nothing here explains machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation, so this section stays short.[3][4]

The ignore_rtp tags

The biome tag has a single entry: the vanilla ocean biome tag (#minecraft:is_ocean).[3]

The block tag lists the vanilla leaves tag (#minecraft:leaves) and bedrock (minecraft:bedrock).[4]

Both files have "replace" set to false.[3][4]

How do you progress through FTB Essentials?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 10: To the Sky 2.0.6 guide

Unverified The sources here do not show any quests, tiers or crafting recipes for FTB Essentials in this pack, so there is no progression path to lay out. Check the pack's quest book and the mod's config files for anything beyond this.

What the mod's data files do show

The mod ships a pair of small data tags, both named ignore_rtp. The biome version lists everything in the minecraft:is_ocean tag. The block version lists everything in the minecraft:leaves tag, plus minecraft:bedrock.[5][6]

Both tags have replace set to false, so they add to any existing entries instead of overwriting them.[5][6]

Which FTB Essentials config options matter?

2 parts

Most of FTB Essentials is teleport commands, and that is where this pack made its changes. The pack adjusts the cooldowns on several teleport commands and pulls random teleport in much closer to spawn. Everything below lives in the mod's config file.[2]

Values the pack changed

Values left at the default

Every admin and misc toggle is still enabled, and so are the teleport command toggles. That includes utility commands like misc.trashcan.enabled, misc.enderchest.enabled and misc.crafting.enabled.[2]

Tip: The config comments say the warm-up, cooldown, home and back limits can be overridden with FTB Ranks. If a server owner gives your rank different numbers, those win over the file values listed here.[2]

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as ftbessentials, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
