What is FlickerFix?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

FlickerFix is a small quality-of-life mod that changes how the night vision effect ends. By default in Minecraft, once night vision drops below 10 seconds of remaining duration, your screen starts flickering. FlickerFix removes that flicker.[1]

In its place, the mod gives you a fast fade-out when there is 1 second of night vision left. The light level eases back to normal instead of strobing for the last stretch.[1]

Who it is for

If you use night vision for caving, mining or exploring dark builds, this one is for you. The flicker is a distracting visual quirk, and this mod swaps it for a smoother ending. It adds no items, blocks or machines, so there is nothing to craft or unlock.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships FlickerFix 7.0.0, using the file flickerfix-26.1-7.0.0.jar. The mod is released under the MIT License.[1][2]

Unverified The sources I have don't show where FlickerFix fits into the pack's progression, and they don't mention any quests or ATM Star path involvement for it. Treat it as a mod that simply works in the background.

How do you get started with FlickerFix?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Good news: FlickerFix has nothing to craft and nothing to set up. There is no first item to make and no order to follow. You just play, and the mod changes how the night vision effect behaves.[1]

What it changes

Normally, when the night vision effect drops below 10 seconds remaining, your screen starts flickering. FlickerFix replaces that with a fast fade-out when 1 second of the effect is left.[1]

So when you drink a night vision potion or get the effect some other way, you keep a steady view until the effect is almost over. Then it fades out quickly instead of flickering for 10 seconds.[1]

What to do

  • Nothing is required. The change applies whenever you have night vision.[1]
  • The sources I have only describe the flicker-to-fade change. I can't confirm any items, recipes, quests or config options for this mod, so I'm not listing any.[1]

Unverified Whether FlickerFix adds any items, recipes, quests or config options in this pack is unverified. The available source only describes the night vision change.

How does FlickerFix work?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

FlickerFix is a tiny client-side-style tweak, not a tech mod, so there are no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation to learn here. The whole mod is about one thing: how the night vision effect looks when it's about to run out.[1]

What it changes

By default in Minecraft, once the night vision effect drops below 10 seconds remaining, the screen starts flickering. FlickerFix replaces that behavior with a fast fade-out that happens at 1 second of remaining duration.[1]

In practice, that means you get a clean, steady view while night vision lasts, and then a quick fade at the very end instead of a long stretch of flashing.[1]

Unverified The sources don't confirm any configuration options, items, blocks, recipes or quests for this mod in the pack, so there is nothing to set up or craft. Whether it needs to be installed on a server, or only on the client, isn't confirmed either.

What changed in FlickerFix between versions?

1 part

FlickerFix has a short history in this pack. FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 ships FlickerFix 7.0.0, using the file flickerfix-26.1-7.0.0.jar.[3]

The mod has been in the pack for a while. It was first included in FTB Evolution 2 1.0.2 or earlier, so it is not a new addition in 1.1.0.[3]

FlickerFix 7.0.0

  • The mod's own changelog for 7.0.0 lists one change: update to 26.1.[4]

Unverified The pack changelogs may mention FlickerFix in other releases, but the sources here show no pack changelog entries for this mod, so any changes made to it between pack versions are unverified.

Items and blocks

We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as flickerfix, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
