What is DimStorage?

1 part

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta guide

DimStorage is a technologic take on the ender chest. You get an ender-chest-style storage system with an owner, frequency selection and a lock system, so you decide who can reach your stuff and which chests share it.[1]

On top of the chests, the mod adds the DimensionalTank and the DimensionalTablet.[1]

The mod ships with a configuration file, so you can adjust it to your own play style.[1]

In this pack

The pack includes DimStorage 10.0.1, and the mod has been part of the pack since version 0.0.1 or earlier.[2]

How do you get started with DimStorage?

3 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

DimStorage is a technologic take on the ender chest idea. Its storage system has an owner, frequency selection and a lock system. The mod also adds the Dimensional Tank and the Dimensional Tablet. It has a config file too, so you can adjust it to your preferences.[1][3]

Start with the Dimensional Chest

The Dimensional Chest is the natural first craft, because it is the heart of the mod's ender-chest-style storage. The mod's own advancement for it is described as "A more connected inventory". Here is the in-pack recipe:[1][3][4]

Then the tank and the tablet

Once you have the chest, move on to the Dimensional Tank and the Dimensional Tablet, the mod's other headline items. The tablet's advancement text reads "A multidimensional tank".[1][3][4]

How does DimStorage work?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta guide

DimStorage is a technologic take on the ender chest idea. It has owner, frequency selection and a lock system, and it adds the Dimensional Chest, the Dimensional Tank and the Dimensional Tablet.[1][4]

Frequency, owner and lock

The mod's screens show a Frequency, an Owner and a Locked field, and Locked is answered with Yes or No. There is also a Change button on the screen.[4]

When you break a Dimensional Chest or a Dimensional Tank, it drops itself and keeps its frequency and any custom name. So you can pick one up and move it without losing its setup.[5][6]

Chest and tablet

The mod describes its chest advancement as "A more connected inventory". Its Dimensional Tablet advancement is described as "A multidimensional tank".[4]

The mod's in-game messages tell you how binding and collecting work: "right click to bind a DimChest" and "right click on a non DimChest block to enable/disable autocollect". The screen text also includes Auto-eject, plus the status words Collecting and Idle.[4]

Fluid readouts

The mod's screen text reports fluid amounts in mb, and it has labels for Liquid, Gaseous, Temperature (in °C) and Luminosity. Jade, if you use it, has separate options for showing custom info for the DimChest and for the DimTank.[4]

Crafting

The pack's recipes for these items are all shaped crafting recipes from the mod. Here they are as the pack uses them.[7]

How do you progress through DimStorage?

2 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.10.0-beta guide

DimStorage in this pack is a small set of craftable items: Dimensional Wall, Dimensional Core, Solid Dimensional Core, Dimensional Chest, Dimensional Tank and Dimensional Tablet. Each one has its own shaped crafting recipe that comes from the mod itself.[7]

Building blocks

Start with the parts. The wall recipe gives you 4 walls per craft, and the core and the solid core each have a separate recipe.[7]

Which DimStorage config options matter?

2 parts

DimStorage keeps its settings in a server config file. The options you will most likely care about cover what players can do with DimChests and DimTanks, and what the DimTablet picks up.[1][8]

Frequency and privacy

  • DimChest/DimTank.allowFrequency is true in this pack. Players can change the frequency of a DimChest or DimTank. The file lists true as the default, so the pack has not changed it.[8]
  • DimChest/DimTank.allowPrivateNetwork is true in this pack. Players can make a DimChest or DimTank private. The file lists true as the default, so the pack has not changed this one either.[8]

What the DimTablet takes

DimTablet.allow_list is a list of blocks that the DimTablet takes and transfers to the connected DimChest. In this pack it holds these blocks: Dirt, Gravel, Cobblestone, Granite, Diorite, Andesite, Sand, Sandstone, Netherrack and End Stone.[8]

Tip: You do not have to edit the file to add to the list. The command /dimstorage add adds the item you have in your main hand to the DimTablet allow list.[8]

What changed in DimStorage between versions?

1 part

In FTB Evolution 2 1.1.0 you get DimStorage version 10.0.1. The mod was already in the pack in 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been there since the early releases.[9]

DimStorage 10.0.1

The mod's own changelog for 10.0.1 is short. It lists two entries: a version bump and a fix for issue #76. The changelog gives no description of what that issue was, so you can't tell from it which behaviour changed.[10]

Unverified The sources here include no FTB Evolution 2 pack changelog entries for DimStorage, so any change the pack itself made to this mod between releases is not shown.
