What is Decorative Wooden Lattices?

1 part

Decorative Wooden Lattices is a building mod. It adds wooden lattices for decorating your houses and other structures, and the project page says it comes with 90 different lattice models.[1]

Besides the lattices, it also features wooden walls and wooden frames, so you get a few extra pieces to match your builds. The page also says the lattice texture was changed to a custom stripped wood texture to give them a better look.[1]

In this pack

The pack ships version 1.0-26.1.2 of the mod, the NeoForge build. It has been included since version 1.0.2 of the pack or earlier.[2]

The sources I have for this mod do not show where, or whether, the pack's quest book places it, so I will not guess at a chapter, group or neighbouring quests. Treat it as a purely cosmetic add-on for your builds.[1][2]

How do you get started with Decorative Wooden Lattices?

3 parts

Decorative Wooden Lattices is a building mod. Its project page describes it as wooden lattices to decorate your buildings, with 90 lattice models plus wooden walls and wooden frames. No quests in this pack involve it, so there is no set order to follow. This section just shows you where to start.[1]

Where the recipes live

In this pack the recipes for the mod's items are stonecutting recipes. The recipe dump counts 1,128 of them, producing 913 different results, so the list is long. Pick one design and work outward from there.[3]

Your first lattice

The numbered lattice items are the easiest place to begin. Acacia lattice 001 is the first in the series, and this is its in-pack recipe:[3][4]

Stonecutting

    Recipe id: decorativewoodenlattices:acacia_lattice_001

A stonecutting recipe that makes Acacia lattice 001.

Some designs have more than one recipe. Acacia lattice 001 has another stonecutting recipe that gives the same result, so don't be surprised if you see duplicate results in the list.[3]

    Stonecutting

      Recipe id: decorativewoodenlattices:acacia_lattice_004

Another stonecutting recipe that also makes Acacia lattice 001.

      Suggested first steps

      1. Look up the recipe for Acacia lattice 001 to see exactly what the pack asks for.[3]
      2. Make a few of the early designs, such as Acacia lattice 002 and Acacia lattice 003, and compare how each model looks.[3][4]
      3. Once you know which style you like, work through the rest of the numbered series and make more of that design.[3][4]
Tip: The lattice names are just numbers, so searching for "Acacia lattice" is the quickest way to browse the whole series.[3][4]

How does Decorative Wooden Lattices work?

      3 parts

There is good news and honest news here. Decorative Wooden Lattices is a building mod, so it has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or automation to learn. The mechanics you actually care about are how you get the blocks and what happens when you break them.[1]

      What the mod adds

The mod features 90 lattices, plus wooden walls and wooden frames. The language file lists them per wood type, for example Acacia lattice 001 and up, plus an Acacia planks wall and an Acacia planks wall frame.[1][4]

      Getting the blocks

In this pack the lattice recipes are stonecutting recipes, so you make them at a stonecutter and not on a crafting grid. The recipe dump counts 1,128 stonecutting recipes for this mod, giving 913 different results. The dump shows no item inputs for these recipes, so I won't guess at what you feed the stonecutter.[3]

The mod's project page describes crafting from planks and stripped log. This pack's recipe data shows stonecutting for the lattices, and the pack's data is what counts for you.[1][3]

      Stonecutting

        Recipe id: decorativewoodenlattices:acacia_lattice_001

Acacia lattice 001 as the pack defines it.

A few lattices have more than one recipe. The second recipe for acacia lattice 001 gives the same result as the first, and the same happens for acacia lattice 011 and acacia lattice 021.[3]

        Stonecutting

          Recipe id: decorativewoodenlattices:acacia_lattice_004

A second recipe that also makes Acacia lattice 001.

          Breaking and collecting

Lattice blocks drop themselves. The loot tables for Acacia lattice 001 and Acacia lattice 002 each roll once and drop the matching lattice item with no extra conditions. So you can pick a lattice up again and move it when you rebuild.[5][6]

Tip: Because every lattice is its own item with its own recipe, plan your build first. Make the exact models you want at the stonecutter, since there are 90 designs to choose from.[1][3]

How do you progress through Decorative Wooden Lattices?

There is no tier ladder to climb with Decorative Wooden Lattices in this pack. Every recipe the pack has for it is the same type: stonecutting. The recipe dump counts 1,128 stonecutting recipes that make lattices, with 913 different results and 0 different ingredients.[3]

Because every recipe works the same way, you don't unlock the lattices in stages. The recipe dump only writes out 87 of those recipes, and each one has the same shape. Here is the first one as an example.[3]

          Stonecutting

            Recipe id: decorativewoodenlattices:acacia_lattice_001

The stonecutting recipe for the first lattice. The other written-out recipes follow the same pattern.

Some recipes are extra routes to a lattice you can already get. For example, recipe 004 also makes Acacia lattice 001, recipe 014 also makes Acacia lattice 011 and recipe 024 also makes Acacia lattice 021.[3]

If you break a placed lattice, it drops itself. The loot tables for Acacia lattice 001 and Acacia lattice 002 each give one of their own item, so you can pick a lattice up again and move it.[5][6]
