What is CakeStickLib?
CakeStickLib is part of this pack at version 1.17.5-hotfix-1, shipped as the file cakesticklib-1.17.5-hotfix-1.jar. It was already in the pack in version 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been around for a while.[1]
Unverified What CakeStickLib actually does is not shown in the sources here. No in-jar guidebook was found for it and no platform description is stored, so this guide does not describe its features.
How do you get started with CakeStickLib?
4 parts
CakeStickLib adds a set of tools, molds and copper helpers. The mod's own advancement descriptions suggest a sensible order: tools first, then molds and wrought iron, then the copper items. That is the order below.[2]
Step 1: Make your tools
Start with the Hammer. Its advancement says you craft it to "craft new stuff", so it is the first thing to have in your inventory.[2]
Crafting Shaped

Step 2: Molds
Everything mold-related starts with the Blank Mold.[3]
The finished molds are made by stonecutting. Each one has a stonecutting recipe from the blank mold and a second stonecutting recipe of its own. These are the molds you can make:[3]
- Ingot Mold and Nugget Mold[3]
- Block Mold and Plate Mold[3]
- Bar Mold and Rod Mold[3]
- Foil Mold and Gear Mold[3]
Example: turning a Blank Mold into an Ingot Mold at the stonecutter.
Step 3: Wrought iron
Wrought Iron Ingot is the mod's main metal. Its advancement says to combine some carbon dust with an iron ingot. There is also a follow-up advancement for smelting a wrought iron ingot in a blast furnace.[2][3]
Crafting Shapeless

Recipe id: cakesticklib:wrought_iron_ingot
The in-pack crafting recipe for the ingot.
This pack also adds casting recipes for wrought iron. An ingot takes 90 units of molten wrought iron at a casting table, a nugget takes 10, and a Wrought Iron Block takes 810 at a casting basin.[3]
Casting Table (hephaestus)
- 90× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/ingot
Added by the pack: casting an ingot from molten wrought iron.
Step 4: Copper care
The last early items work on copper blocks. Honey Solution waxes the copper block you click, and Redstone Acid pushes it one oxidation stage further. Scraping any oxidized copper block drops Patina. The pack leaves these behaviors on.[2][4]

How does CakeStickLib work?
6 parts
CakeStickLib handles its machines through upgrade items, and it adds a set of hand tools and in-world interactions on top. This section covers what the pack's files confirm about both.[4][5]
Machine upgrades
The mod's upgrade items are Speed Upgrade, Energy Upgrade, Luck Upgrade, Fluid Upgrade and Eject Upgrade. They are grouped together in one upgrades item tag.[2][5]
The config caps how many upgrade types a single machine can take. Energy is the most generous at 16 (upgrades.max_energy_upgrades). Fluid, luck and speed are each capped at 4 (upgrades.max_fluid_upgrades, upgrades.max_luck_upgrades and upgrades.max_speed_upgrades). All four can be set anywhere from 0 to 16.[4]
- upgrades.max_luck is 100. It is the maximal secondary chance you can get from installed upgrades, which fits the luck upgrade's job of increasing secondary outputs.[4]
- upgrades.min_fe_cost is 5. It is the minimal energy cost based on the upgrade installed.[4]
- upgrades.min_mb_cost is 1. It is the minimal fluid cost based on the upgrade installed.[4]
- upgrades.min_tick_rate is 1. It is the minimal tick delay based on the upgrade installed.[4]
Casting wrought iron
The pack adds its own fluid casting for wrought iron through Hephaestus Forge. Molten wrought iron goes in, and a casting table turns it into an ingot or a nugget. A casting basin turns it into a block. The amounts are 90 for an ingot, 10 for a nugget and 810 for a block.[3]
Casting Table (hephaestus)
- 90× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/ingot
Casting table recipe added by the pack: 90 molten wrought iron per ingot.
Casting Table (hephaestus)
- 10× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/nugget
Casting table recipe added by the pack: 10 molten wrought iron per nugget.
Casting Basin (hephaestus)
- 810× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/block
Casting basin recipe added by the pack: 810 molten wrought iron per block.
You can also craft Wrought Iron Ingot by hand. The mod's advancement text describes it as combining carbon dust with an iron ingot. The next advancement step is smelting a wrought iron ingot in a blast furnace to get steel.[2][3]
Crafting Shapeless
- any carbon dust
- any carbon dust
- any iron ingot

The mod also registers many fluids with their own buckets, including crude oil, glue, honey, latex, liquid glass, plastic, resin, sap, sulfuric acid and molten versions of copper, gold, iron, steel, redstone, glowstone, blazing, ancient debris and netherite.[2]
In-world crafting with the chisel
The Chisel lets you perform stonecutting recipes in the world, as its advancement text says. The mod's own description says this happens when the chisel is bound to the result block.[2]

The molds work the same way in the regular stonecutter. The bar, block, foil and gear molds each have a stonecutting recipe from the Blank Mold. The bar, block and foil molds also have a second stonecutting recipe that does not start from a blank mold.[3]

Copper oxidation, waxing and patina
The common config controls the copper interactions below, and the pack has them switched on. Redstone Acid raises a copper block by one oxidation stage (events.redstone_acid_oxide). Redstone acid is the only item in the mod's oxidizer tag. Honey Solution waxes the copper block you click (events.honey_solution_wax). The mod's waxing tag holds honey solution and honeycomb.[4][6][7]

- Glass Bottle
- any redstone dust
Patina

Crafting Shapeless
- Glass Bottle
- Honeycomb
- Dandelion
Recipe id: cakesticklib:honey_solution
Scraping any oxidized copper block can drop Patina (events.patina_drop). The mod's JEI text says each scrape drops 0-2 items.[2][4]
Other world interactions
- events.ender_eye_return is on: you can interact with an End Portal Frame to take the Eye of Ender back out.[4]
- events.harvestable_action is on: you can right-click crops to collect them instead of breaking them. The config notes that this turns off by default if Farmer's Delight is detected.[4]
- events.tree_cutting_limit is 2048, the same as the mod default. It is the maximum number of harvestable blocks per interaction.[4]
- The glass cutter is described as insta-mining glass blocks. Its mineable tag covers glass blocks and glass panes.[2][8]
- The wrench is described as cycling the blockstates of the blocks you click.[2]
Durability-based recipes
The mod has a recipe type called durability_use, and its JEI text reads "Consume %s durability". Amethyst Dust, Flour and Glass Dust each have one, shown below.[2][3]

How do you progress through CakeStickLib?
5 parts
CakeStickLib is a crafting-component mod, and in this pack its items hang together as a set of recipe chains rather than a quest-guided ladder. Here is what the pack's recipes actually show, so you can plan your own order.[3]
Wrought iron and the forge
Wrought iron is where this pack changes things. On top of the mod's own crafting recipes for Wrought Iron Ingot, the pack adds Hephaestus Forge casting recipes that turn molten wrought iron into the ingot, nugget and block. A casting table makes an ingot from 90 units of molten wrought iron and a nugget from 10. A casting basin makes a Wrought Iron Block from 810. You will want Hephaestus Forge set up for these.[3]
Casting Table (hephaestus)
- 90× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/ingot
Added by the pack: casting table, 90 units of molten wrought iron per ingot.
Casting Basin (hephaestus)
- 810× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/block
Added by the pack: casting basin, 810 units of molten wrought iron per block.
Crafting Shaped
| any wrought iron ingot | any wrought iron ingot | any wrought iron ingot |
Recipe id: cakesticklib:wrought_iron_plate
Crafting wrought iron plates gives 3 per craft.
Molds
The Blank Mold is crafted. Every shaped mold (bar, block, foil, gear, ingot, nugget, plate and rod) has a stonecutting recipe from a blank mold and a separate stonecutting recipe that skips it. So the blank mold is not a required step for any of them.[3]
Metal components
Iron, copper and gold each get a foil and a coil recipe: Iron Foil, Copper Foil and Gold Foil, plus Iron Coil, Copper Coil and Gold Coil. The iron foil recipe is shown below.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any iron plate | Stick |
| Empty slot | any iron plate | Empty slot |

Recipe id: cakesticklib:iron_foil
Foil recipes make 3 per craft.
The electronics parts are all crafted too: Chip, Resistor, Condenser, Electron Tube, Blue Battery and Green Battery. Chips, resistors and condensers each also have an alternate recipe that makes more per craft.[3]
Crafting Shaped
| Empty slot | any iron nugget | Empty slot |

Quest path
Unverified The sources here show no pack quest for this mod, so I can't tell you which quest chapter unlocks these items or in what order. Check the pack's quest book in game, and use the recipes above as your guide.
How does CakeStickLib work with other mods?
2 parts
The clearest link between CakeStickLib and another mod in this pack is Hephaestus Forge. The pack adds casting recipes that turn ftb:molten_wrought_iron into the wrought iron items that CakeStickLib provides: ingot, nugget and block. So if you want wrought iron, you go through a Hephaestus casting setup.[3]
Casting wrought iron
Ingots and nuggets are cast in the casting table, while blocks are cast in the casting basin. All of these recipes were added by the pack, so you won't find them in either mod on its own.[3]
Casting Table (hephaestus)
- 90× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/ingot
Casting table: 90 units of molten wrought iron make one Wrought Iron Ingot.
Casting Table (hephaestus)
- 10× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/nugget
Casting table: 10 units of molten wrought iron make one Wrought Iron Nugget.
Casting Basin (hephaestus)
- 810× Molten Wrought Iron
Recipe id: ftb:hephaestus_materials/casting/wrought_iron/block
Casting basin: 810 units of molten wrought iron make one Wrought Iron Block.
The amounts are consistent with each other: a block takes 810, an ingot 90 and a nugget 10, so each step up is a clean multiple of the one below.[3]
Vanilla items in CakeStickLib's tags
CakeStickLib also ships item tags that point at Minecraft items and at common cross-mod tags. These are data files from the mod's own jar. The sources here don't say how each tag is used, so treat this as a list of what is grouped, not a description of a feature.[9][10][11][12][13]
- Stone tags: one tag groups stone, diorite, andesite and granite, and another groups deepslate and tuff.[9][10]
- Copper recycle tags: numbered groups of copper tools, armor, doors and trapdoors, with common tags for copper plates, coils, foils, dusts and gears.[11][14][15][16][17][18][19][20][21]
- Gold recycle tags: the same layout for golden tools and armor, the light weighted pressure plate, and common tags for gold plates, coils, foils, dusts and gears.[12][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29]
- Iron recycle tags: iron tools and armor, the shield, shears, bucket, iron door and trapdoor, the heavy weighted pressure plate, and common tags for iron plates, coils, foils, dusts and gears.[13][30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]
- A glass cutter mineable tag lists the common glass block and glass pane tags.[8]
Which CakeStickLib config options matter?
3 parts
CakeStickLib keeps its settings in one file, events.ender_eye_return and friends all live in config/cakesticklib-common.toml. Good news: every option that lists a mod default in this pack's file is set to exactly that default, so the pack changes nothing here. If you know the mod's normal behaviour, that is what you get.[4]
Machine upgrade limits
These options cap how many upgrade types you can put in each machine. All of them are at the mod default in this pack.[4]
- upgrades.max_energy_upgrades is 16 (range 0 to 16). This is the max Energy Efficiency Upgrade types per machine.[4]
- upgrades.max_fluid_upgrades is 4 (range 0 to 16). This is the max Fluid Efficiency Upgrade types per machine.[4]
- upgrades.max_luck_upgrades is 4 (range 0 to 16). This is the max Secondary Output Increaser Upgrade types per machine.[4]
- upgrades.max_speed_upgrades is 4 (range 0 to 16). This is the max Speed Increaser Upgrade types per machine.[4]
Upgrade scaling values
- upgrades.max_luck is 100, the maximal secondary chance based on the upgrade installed.[4]
- upgrades.min_fe_cost is 5, the minimal energy cost based on the upgrade installed.[4]
- upgrades.min_mb_cost is 1, the minimal fluid cost based on the upgrade installed.[4]
- upgrades.min_tick_rate is 1, the minimal tick delay based on the upgrade installed.[4]
Events
The event options are all switched on in this pack. events.ender_eye_return lets you interact with an End Portal Frame to remove its Eye of Ender. events.honey_solution_wax lets Honey Solution wax the copper block you click, and events.redstone_acid_oxide lets Redstone Acid push that copper block one oxidation stage further. events.patina_drop makes Patina drop when you scrape any oxidized copper block.[4]
events.harvestable_action is true, so you can right-click crops to collect them instead of breaking them. The option's own description says it turns off by default if Farmers Delight is detected, but the pack file lists it as true.[4]
events.tree_cutting_limit is 2048, the max number of harvestable blocks per interaction, which is the mod default.[4]
