What is Armor Cosmetic?
Armor Cosmetic is part of this pack. The pack ships version 1.1.1 of the mod, built for NeoForge (the file is armor_cosmetic-26.1.2-neoforge-1.1.1.jar).[1]
It is not a new addition: the mod was already in the pack by version 1.0.2 or earlier, so it has been part of the modlist for a while.[1]
Unverified What Armor Cosmetic does in detail is not shown in the sources here. No platform page details or in-jar guidebook were found for the mod, so this guide does not describe its features, recipes or settings.
How do you get started with Armor Cosmetic?
2 parts
Armor Cosmetic adds a cosmetic armor inventory, so you can change how your armor looks without changing the armor you actually wear. The sources for this pack show the screen and the settings, so this section covers what you will use first.[2][3]
Your first steps
- Find the button whose tooltip reads "Open Cosmetic Armor Inventory". Clicking it opens the cosmetic armor inventory.[2]
- When you are done, use the button whose tooltip reads "Close Cosmetic Inventory" to go back to the normal inventory.[2]
- Use the toggle for cosmetic armor rendering. Its tooltip tells you whether rendering is ON (click to disable) or OFF (click to enable).[2]
- Use the skin toggle to switch what you see. "Showing armor (click to show skin)" and "Showing skin (click to show armor)" are the two tooltips you will see.[2]
What the pack sets in the config
The pack's config file for this mod has a few options, and it is worth knowing them before you start dressing up.[3]
- Common.CosArmorDisableRecipeBook is set to true, so the recipe book is disabled inside the cosmetic armor inventory.[2][3]
- Common.CosArmorKeepThroughDeath is set to false, so items in your cosmetic armor slots are not kept if you die.[3]
- Common.CosArmorDisableCosHatCommand is set to false, so the coshat command is not disabled.[3]
How does Armor Cosmetic work?
2 parts
Armor Cosmetic adds a separate cosmetic armor inventory to your player screen. The sources for this pack only describe that screen and a handful of config options, so this section covers those and nothing more.[2][3]
The cosmetic inventory screen
A button opens the cosmetic armor inventory, and its tooltip reads "Open Cosmetic Armor Inventory". While you are in the cosmetic inventory, the tooltip reads "Close Cosmetic Inventory" so you can head back out.[2]
The screen also has toggle buttons. Their tooltips tell you what each one is doing right now and what a click will do:[2]
- Cosmetic armor rendering: the tooltip says "Cosmetic armor rendering: ON (click to disable)" or "Cosmetic armor rendering: OFF (click to enable)".[2]
- Skin or armor: the tooltip says "Showing armor (click to show skin)" or "Showing skin (click to show armor)".[2]
Pack config
The pack sets these options in config/armor_cosmetic/common.toml. Each one is covered below.[3]
- Common.CosArmorDisableRecipeBook is true in this pack. That means the recipe book is disabled inside the cosmetic armor inventory. The mod's own label for the option is "Disable Recipe Book in Cosmetic Armor Inventory".[2][3]
- Common.CosArmorKeepThroughDeath is false in this pack. This option controls whether items in the cosmetic armor slots are kept when you die, so with it off that keep behaviour is not enabled.[3]
- Common.CosArmorDisableCosHatCommand is false in this pack. This option controls whether the coshat command is disabled, so with it off the command is not disabled.[3]
Which Armor Cosmetic config options matter?
2 parts
Armor Cosmetic has only a handful of options, split between a common file and a client file. Here is exactly how this pack sets them.[3][4]
Gameplay options (common.toml)
- Common.CosArmorKeepThroughDeath is false in this pack. That means items in your cosmetic armor slots are not kept when you die, so don't count on them surviving a death.[3]
- Common.CosArmorDisableRecipeBook is true in this pack. The recipe book is disabled in the cosmetic armor inventory.[3]
- Common.CosArmorDisableCosHatCommand is false in this pack. The coshat command is not disabled.[3]
Button placement (client.toml)
The client file controls where the cosmetic armor buttons sit on your inventory screens. Each button has a hidden toggle and two pixel offsets, Left (horizontal) and Top (vertical). Every button is visible in this pack.[4]
- The button that opens the cosmetic armor inventory sits at Left 75 and Top 50 from the origin of the player inventory (see Client.CosArmorGuiButton_Left, Client.CosArmorGuiButton_Top and Client.CosArmorGuiButton_Hidden).[4]
- The button that toggles the mod temporarily on the client side sits at Left 77 and Top 45 (see Client.CosArmorToggleButton_Left, Client.CosArmorToggleButton_Top and Client.CosArmorToggleButton_Hidden).[4]
- In the creative inventory, the button that opens the cosmetic armor inventory sits at Left 95 and Top 38 (see Client.CosArmorCreativeGuiButton_Left, Client.CosArmorCreativeGuiButton_Top and Client.CosArmorCreativeGuiButton_Hidden).[4]
All of these position values match the mod defaults, so the pack did not move any buttons. If you want a button somewhere else, change its Left and Top values, or set the matching Hidden option to true to remove it.[4]

Items and blocks
We can't match this mod to the pack's item list: it registers as armor_cosmetic, and the pack's recipe dump has nothing under that name. That means we found nothing, not that the mod adds nothing. Search the item browser
