What is TFC Ambiental?
TFC Ambiental is part of this pack's mod list. That list is the only thing the sources here confirm about it, so this overview is short.[1]
The mod list gives the version as 2.0.0, but the jar file is named tfcambiental-2.2.0-1.18.2.jar. These version numbers don't match, so if the exact version matters to you, check the jar in your mods folder.[1]
Unverified The sources here do not show which quest chapter or group, if any, places TFC Ambiental, what comes before or after it, or whether the ATM Star path uses it. That detail would live in the pack's quest book, so check there.
How do you get started with TFC Ambiental?
3 parts
TFC Ambiental adds wearable clothing to the pack. Everything below is a real in-pack recipe, so you can see exactly what each piece needs. The recipe blocks show the ingredients.[2]
Start with the simplest piece
The Straw Hat is a good first craft. It is a single shaped crafting-table recipe, so you can make it with no extra setup. The mod has a tooltip reading "Protects against direct sunlight".[2][3]
Cloth clothing sets
- Burlap Cowl has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Burlap Shirt has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Burlap Pants has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Burlap Shoes has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Wool Hat has a shaped crafting recipe, which is named wool_cap in the pack.[2]
- Wool Sweater has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Wool Pants has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Wool Boots has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Silk Cowl has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Silk Shirt has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Silk Pants has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Silk Shoes has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
Leather options
The Leather Apron is not made in the crafting table. It uses a leather knapping recipe.[2]
- Insulated Leather Hat has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Insulated Leather Tunic has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Insulated Leather Pants has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]
- Insulated Leather Boots has a shaped crafting recipe.[2]

How does TFC Ambiental work?
4 parts
TFC Ambiental is about your own body temperature and the clothing that goes with it, so this section covers the temperature settings the pack uses and the gear you can craft.[2][4]
Temperature thresholds
The pack sets averageTemperature to 15. The config describes that as the not too warm and not too cool point. The other thresholds sit around it.[4]
- hotThreshold is 25. This is where warmth starts to affect your screen, but only mildly.[4]
- burnThreshold is 30. This is where warmth starts to hurt you.[4]
- coolThreshold is 5. This is where cold starts to affect your screen, but only mildly.[4]
- freezeThreshold is 0. This is where cold starts to hurt you.[4]
So the screen effects are the early warning and the damage thresholds come after them. In this pack that means 25 before 30 on the hot side, and 5 before 0 on the cold side.[4]
How fast your temperature changes
Your temperature moves toward the target temperature of your environment, and these options control how quickly. temperatureChangeSpeed is the general speed and the pack sets it to 1. goodTemperatureChangeSpeed applies when the change is beneficial to you, and the pack sets it to 4. badTemperatureChangeSpeed applies when the change is not beneficial, and the pack sets it to 1.[4]
With the pack's values, a change that helps you happens at 4 against 1 for a change that hurts you.[4]
Clothing
The mod's gear comes in several sets. There are burlap pieces: the Burlap Cowl, Burlap Shirt, Burlap Pants and Burlap Shoes. There are silk pieces: the Silk Cowl, Silk Shirt, Silk Pants and Silk Shoes. Wool gets the Wool Hat, Wool Sweater, Wool Pants and Wool Boots. The Straw Hat rounds out the cloth and plant gear.[2]
The mod also has a tooltip that reads "Protects against direct sunlight".[3]
This recipe makes the Wool Hat.
The leather line is the insulated set: Insulated Leather Hat, Insulated Leather Tunic, Insulated Leather Pants and Insulated Leather Boots. Here are the recipes for the hat, tunic and pants.[2]

The Leather Apron is made differently, through leather knapping, so it has no crafting grid recipe.[2]
Visual settings
The client config controls the screen noise effect. The pack sets noiseArea to 10, noiseLevels to 5 and noiseDarkness to 0.18. The darkness value is the maximum darkness of the noise, and setting it to 0 disables the noise entirely.[5]
There are also season tints, each an ARGB hex code: seasonColorSpring, seasonColorSummer, seasonColorAutumn and seasonColorWinter. The pack uses 3311CAD7 for spring and 1233FF11 for summer, which differ from the defaults of 3311CFD1 and 1222FF11. Autumn (EAFFDD55) and winter (6AFFEEEE) match the defaults.[5]
How do you progress through TFC Ambiental?
4 parts
The sources I have for this mod only cover its recipes, so this section breaks the clothing down by material rather than by a ranked tier list. Each set below is crafted in the pack from a single base material, except the insulated leather set, which builds on vanilla leather armor.[2]
Straw, burlap and the leather apron
This group has the Straw Hat, the burlap set of Burlap Cowl, Burlap Shirt, Burlap Pants and Burlap Shoes, and the Leather Apron. The apron isn't crafted at a table: it comes from leather knapping instead. The recipes below show how they are made.[2]
This is a leather knapping recipe, not a crafting table recipe.
Wool
The wool set is Wool Hat, Wool Sweater, Wool Pants and Wool Boots. The Wool Hat's recipe id is wool_cap, so search for that if you look it up by id.[2]
Insulated leather
The insulated leather set is Insulated Leather Hat, Insulated Leather Tunic, Insulated Leather Pants and Insulated Leather Boots. The recipes below show how each piece is made.[2]

Silk
The silk set is Silk Cowl, Silk Shirt, Silk Pants and Silk Shoes.[2]
How does TFC Ambiental work with other mods?
2 parts
The only connection to another mod that I can confirm in this pack is with TerraFirmaCraft. Every piece of clothing you craft with TFC Ambiental is built around a TFC material, so you need to be playing the TFC side of the pack to get your gear.[2]
Clothing made from TFC materials
Burlap clothing ties into TFC through Burlap Cloth. The set covers Burlap Cowl, Burlap Shirt, Burlap Pants and Burlap Shoes. The exact recipes are shown below.[2]
The silk set follows the same pattern with Silk Cloth: Silk Cowl, Silk Shirt, Silk Pants and Silk Shoes.[2]
Wool gear ties into TFC through Wool Cloth. The set covers Wool Hat, Wool Sweater, Wool Pants and Wool Boots. The hat's recipe id is wool_cap, so look for that name if you search recipes.[2]
The Straw Hat is the odd one out. It is crafted from Straw rather than cloth.[2]
Example recipes
Unverified No quests in this pack involve TFC Ambiental, and I found no other in-pack recipes linking it to mods beyond TFC. Any other integrations are unconfirmed.
Which TFC Ambiental config options matter?
4 parts
TFC Ambiental splits its settings between a common config for the temperature rules and a client config for the screen effects. Here is how this pack sets the options you're most likely to care about.[4][5]
Temperature thresholds (common config)
These options decide where your temperature goes from comfortable to mildly annoying to actually harmful. Each one has an allowed range in the file, and this pack uses the values below.[4]
- averageTemperature is 15. This is the not too warm, not too cool point.[4]
- coolThreshold is 5. This is where cold starts to affect your screen, but only mildly.[4]
- freezeThreshold is 0. This is where cold starts to hurt you.[4]
- hotThreshold is 25. This is where warmth starts to affect your screen, but only mildly.[4]
- burnThreshold is 30. This is where warmth starts to hurt you.[4]
How fast your temperature changes
A group of options controls how quickly your temperature moves toward the temperature of your surroundings. temperatureChangeSpeed is the general speed and is set to 1. goodTemperatureChangeSpeed applies when the change is beneficial and is set to 4. badTemperatureChangeSpeed applies when it isn't beneficial and is set to 1.[4]
Screen noise (client config)
The noise effect is the visual overlay that darkens your screen. noiseArea sets how big the noise areas are and is 10 here, with an allowed range of 3 to 50. noiseLevels sets how many darkness levels there are and is 5, with a range of 5 to 30. noiseDarkness sets the maximum darkness and is 0.18, with a range of 0.0 to 0.5.[5]
Season colors: what the pack changed
The season color options are ARGB hex codes. Spring and summer differ from the mod default in this pack. seasonColorSpring is 3311CAD7 here, where the default is 3311CFD1. seasonColorSummer is 1233FF11 here, where the default is 1222FF11.[5]
seasonColorAutumn (EAFFDD55) and seasonColorWinter (6AFFEEEE) match the mod defaults.[5]
