What is Integrated NBT?

Integrated NBT is included in this pack. The pack's mod list shows version 1.5.0, but the jar file is named for Minecraft 1.18.2 and version 1.5.1. The list and the file name disagree, so I can't tell you which exact version you're running.[1]

Unverified The sources I was given don't describe what Integrated NBT actually does, who it's meant for, or where it fits in the pack's progression. I have no confirmed recipes, configs or items for it, so I'm not going to guess. Check back once more details are confirmed.

How do you get started with Integrated NBT?

4 parts

Integrated NBT adds one main tool: the NBT Extractor. It lets you pull deeply nested values out of a variable of the NBT type.[2]

Both of the mod's items are crafted from Integrated Dynamics items, so you'll need that mod's gear before you can start. Here is the exact in-pack recipe for the extractor.[3]

Craft the NBT Extractor

This is the first item to make. The pack's recipe uses Integrated Dynamics items.

Load an NBT variable

Open the extractor and place a variable of type NBT into the left slot. That's the starting point the in-game welcome text gives you.[2]

  1. Right click an entry in the NBT tree to expand or collapse it.[2]
  2. Left click the value you want to extract. The tooltip tells you once the path is selected.[2]
  3. Place a variable into the right slot to receive the extracted value.[2]

Settings worth knowing

Auto Refresh controls whether the extractor updates its NBT tree when the source NBT variable changes. Turn it OFF if you want to freeze the value currently displayed.[2]

Output Mode controls how the output value is created. The modes are NBT path, operator, reference and value. If you don't understand them, the in-game description tells you which one to stick with.[2]

  • NBT path: the extraction process is encoded into a CyclopsCore NBT Path string.[2]
  • Operator: the extraction process is encoded into an operator that accepts NBT and returns the extracted value.[2]
  • Reference: output values are created with a reference to the source NBT variable.[2]
  • Value: the value shown is written to the output variable as a constant.[2]

Make the remote (optional)

The NBT Extractor Remote allows remote access of an NBT Extractor. Right click an NBT Extractor with the remote to bind it. The tooltip then shows the extractor's coordinates and dimension.[2]

The remote needs an extractor to bind to, so make the extractor first.

Tip: If the remote's tooltip says to right click a NBT Extractor to bind, it hasn't been linked yet. Right click an extractor with it to fix that.[2]

How does Integrated NBT work?

5 parts

The sources for Integrated NBT only explain one machine and its companion item, so this section is short. It covers how the NBT Extractor works and how the NBT Extractor Remote lets you reach it from a distance.[2]

The NBT Extractor

The NBT Extractor pulls deeply nested values out of a variable of the NBT type. You work with it through its interface, which starts by asking you to place an NBT variable into the left slot.[2]

Extracting a value

  1. Place a variable of type NBT into the left slot. The extractor then displays the NBT tree for that variable.[2]
  2. Right click an entry to expand or collapse it, so you can dig down through the nested data.[2]
  3. Left click the value you want to extract. The tooltip shows "Waiting for server to confirm selection..." while the server confirms your choice.[2]
  4. Once the tooltip says the path is selected, place a variable into the right slot to receive the value.[2]

Entries in the tree also show a Converted Type and a Default Value in their tooltips. The resulting variable card shows an Extract From entry (the source NBT variable), an Extraction Path and a Default Value.[2]

Auto Refresh

Auto Refresh decides whether the extractor automatically refreshes its NBT tree when the source NBT variable updates. Turn it OFF to freeze the value currently on display.[2]

Output Mode

Output Mode controls how the output value is created. The mod's own description says that if you don't understand it, you should stick with the mode the interface suggests. These are the modes it describes:[2]

  • NBT Path: the extraction process is encoded into a CyclopsCore NBT Path string.[2]
  • Operator: the extraction process is encoded into an operator that accepts NBT and returns the extracted value.[2]
  • Reference: the output value is created with a reference to the source NBT variable.[2]
  • Value: the value currently shown is written to the output variable as a constant.[2]

The NBT Extractor Remote

The NBT Extractor Remote allows remote access to an NBT Extractor. Right click an extractor to bind the remote to it. Once bound, the remote's tooltip shows the extractor's coordinates and dimension.[2]

Tip: If the remote's tooltip says "Right click a NBT Extractor to bind", it isn't linked to anything yet. Bind it first, then check the tooltip to confirm the right extractor and dimension.[2]

How do you progress through Integrated NBT?

1 part

The sources I have for Integrated NBT in this pack show no tier ladder and no upgrade chain. What they do show is a pair of craftable items, each with its own shaped crafting recipe, and both recipes are built around Integrated Dynamics items. You'll want to be set up in that mod before you can make either one.[3]

The craftable items

The NBT Extractor is crafted in the crafting grid with a shaped recipe, shown below.[3]

The NBT Extractor Remote has its own separate shaped recipe. It isn't an upgrade of the extractor, because the extractor isn't one of its ingredients.[3]

Tip: Both recipes use the Logic Programmer and the Portable Logic Programmer from Integrated Dynamics. If you haven't got that far in that mod yet, do that first, then follow the recipe blocks above for the exact layouts.[3]

How does Integrated NBT work with other mods?

2 parts

In this pack, Integrated NBT connects to one other mod that the recipes show: Integrated Dynamics. Both of the mod's items are crafted from Integrated Dynamics components, so you need to be set up with that mod before you can get either one.[3]

NBT Extractor

The NBT Extractor is a shaped crafting recipe built from Integrated Dynamics items. The recipe below shows exactly what goes in.[3]

NBT Extractor Remote

The NBT Extractor Remote is also a shaped recipe built around Integrated Dynamics items. It does not use the Crystallized Menril block, but it still needs both programmers and a Crystallized Menril chunk.[3]

Tip: Both recipes need the Logic Programmer and the Portable Logic Programmer. Craft those first, and gather Crystallized Menril from Integrated Dynamics, before you try either NBT item.[3]

Unverified No quests in this pack are known to involve Integrated NBT, and no other mod connections beyond these recipes could be confirmed.
