What is MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished?

MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished is part of this pack. The pack ships version 1.0.23 of the mod, built for NeoForge (the file is refurbished_furniture-neoforge-26.1.2-1.0.23.jar).[1]

It has been in the pack for a while: the mod list shows it was first included in version 0.0.15 or earlier.[1]

How do you get started with MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished?

4 parts

Same as in the All the Mods 11 0.8.0-beta guide

Furniture in this pack has its own crafting flow. The mod's workbench GUI lets you pick a recipe from a list, and it then searches your inventory, its own storage and neighboring storage blocks for the materials. Put the workbench next to a storage block and you won't have to carry everything around.[2]

Know the categories

The mod sorts its items into filter categories, which helps you decide what to build first. General covers the basics like chairs and tables. Kitchen covers cupboards, counters and appliances. Electronics covers lights, computers and generators. Bathroom, bedroom, outdoors, storage and food each have their own category as well.[2]

Colour variants and dyeing

Many colour variants have recipe ids ending in from_dyeing. That covers coolers, grills, lamps, sofas, stools, trampolines and the kitchen cabinetry, drawers, sinks and storage cabinets. Toilets are different: their colour variants have plain recipe ids, such as the one for the Black Toilet.[3]

  • any wooden toilet
  • Black Dye

Electronics

Generators sit in the electronics category. The HomeControl computer program only sees devices that are connected to the same electricity network as the computer. You can rename devices in an anvil before placing them so they are easier to tell apart in the app. Here is the in-pack recipe for the Dark Electricity Generator:[2][3]

Crafting Shapeless

  • Light Electricity Generator
  • Black Dye

Food

The mod also adds its own food and cooking ingredients. Good ones to look at first are Dough and Cheese.[2][3]

How does MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished work?

3 parts

The sources for MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished in this pack don't describe power, fluid or multiblock behaviour. What they do show is how the mod's recipes are organised. Each recipe type matches a station you use, so that's the system I can walk you through.[4]

Building furniture

Furniture pieces are made with their own recipe type, refurbished_furniture:workbench_constructing, instead of the normal crafting grid. In this pack there are 464 of these recipes, each with a different result. Examples are Acacia Basin, Acacia Bath and Acacia Chair.[4]

Acacia ChairMod recipe

Workbench Constructing (refurbished_furniture)

    Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:constructing/acacia_chair

The Acacia Chair is one of the constructing recipes, so it is built this way and not in a normal crafting table.

Some items still use ordinary crafting. The pack has 135 shapeless and 70 shaped recipes that make items from this mod. Ceiling fans such as Acacia Dark Ceiling Fan and Birch Dark Ceiling Fan are shapeless. Colour variants come from dyeing recipes: Black Cooler is shapeless, while Black Kitchen Cabinetry, Black Kitchen Drawer and Black Kitchen Sink are shaped.[4]

    Black CoolerMod recipe

    Crafting Shapeless

    • Black Dye
    • any cooler

    Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:black_cooler_from_dyeing

Dyeing is how you get the Black Cooler.

There is also a special recipe type for copying a Door Mat (door_mat_copy).[4]

    Door MatMod recipe

Crafting Special Door Mat Copy (refurbished_furniture)

      Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:door_mat_copy

The kitchen: one recipe type per station

Food is where the mod gets mechanical. Each kitchen station has its own recipe type, so the same item can come from different stations.[4]

      6× Bread SliceMod recipe

      Cutting Board Slicing (refurbished_furniture)

        Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:slicing/bread_slice_from_bread

One slicing recipe gives you 6 bread slices.

        Oven Baking (refurbished_furniture)

          Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:baking/cooked_meatlovers_pizza

Pizzas are baked in the oven.

          Grilled CheeseMod recipe

          Toaster Heating (refurbished_furniture)

            Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:toasting/cheese_toastie

The toaster route to Grilled Cheese.

            Grilled CheeseMod recipe

            Frying Pan Cooking (refurbished_furniture)

              Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:frying/cheese_toastie

The frying pan route to the same item.

              Breaking furniture

The block loot tables I can see, for example the Acacia Basin, Bath and Chair, are simple: the block drops itself, with a survives-explosion condition. So you pick furniture up again by breaking it.[5][6][7]

How do you progress through MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished?

              3 parts

There is no tier ladder to climb here that I can show you from the pack data. What the recipes do show is how MrCrayfish's Furniture Mod: Refurbished sorts its crafting into stations. Knowing which station makes what is the closest thing to a progression path.[4]

              Workbench furniture

Most of the mod's furniture uses its own workbench constructing recipe type: 464 recipes, each with a different result. Examples are the Acacia Chair, Acacia Desk and Acacia Storage Jar. This is the main route for building furniture.[4]

                Dyeing and colour variants

Colour variants come from regular crafting. The pack has 135 shapeless and 70 shaped recipes for this mod. The dyeing recipes include shapeless ones like Black Cooler and shaped ones like Black Kitchen Cabinetry.[4]

                A shapeless dyeing recipe.

                Kitchen stations

The food side of the mod has its own recipe types, each tied to a kitchen appliance. Together they let you chain simple ingredients into finished dishes:[4]

                Oven Baking (refurbished_furniture)

                  Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:baking/cooked_meatlovers_pizza

The oven recipe for the Cooked Meat Pizza.

                  Cutting Board Slicing (refurbished_furniture)

                    Recipe id: refurbished_furniture:slicing/meatlovers_pizza_slice_from_cooked_meatlovers_pizza

Slicing the cooked pizza gives 6 slices.
