What is Macaw's Bridges?
1 part
Same as in the All the Mods 10 8.1 guide
Macaw's Bridges is a simple building mod that adds a big variety of bridges to the game. If you like decorating your bases, building walkways over water or gaps, or just want your builds to look less plain, this one is for you.[1]
The mod's models have been reworked to fit in with vanilla gameplay, and the newer versions also improve the in-game models for Bridge Stairs. You can light bridges with torches, so your walkways don't turn into mob spawning spots at night.[1]
This pack ships Macaw's Bridges 3.1.2 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. The mod's own page recommends running a recent version because it improves performance, so you are on the kind of build the author suggests.[1][2]
Where it fits in progression
Bridges are a decorative and building option. Nothing in the sources I have gates them behind a progression step or ties them to a machine chain, so you can use them whenever you like.[1]
Unverified No quests in this pack involve the mod, and it is not on the ATM Star quest path. No in-jar guidebook was found for it either, so there is no extra in-game documentation to point you to.
How do you get started with Macaw's Bridges?
5 parts
Macaw's Bridges is a simple mod that adds a lot of bridges, and the whole kit comes down to a few pieces: the bridge, its stairs, a support, and some light. Here is the order I'd make them in.[1]
Make the bridge itself
Start with the main walkway piece. I'll use the Acacia Bridge as the example. Stone-style options like Andesite Bridge and Balustrade Stone Bricks Bridge exist too, so pick whichever matches your build.[3]

This is the in-pack recipe for the Acacia Bridge, a shaped crafting recipe.
Add stairs for the ends
Next, craft the matching stair so you can walk up onto your bridge or follow a slope. The Acacia Bridge Stair is the partner for the Acacia Bridge. There is also a shapeless recycle recipe whose output is the Acacia Bridge, so you can check the recipe viewer if you made the wrong piece.[3]

Support it
Long spans need something underneath. The wood sets have a support piece, such as the Acacia Bridge Support. Some stone sets call theirs a pier instead, like the Cobblestone Bridge Pier.[3]

Light it up
Bridges can be lit with torches. The mod adds the Bridge Torch and the Bridge Lantern for this. The mod's tooltip for its lights says to use them on the handrails of bridges and stairs.[1][3][4]

Open up an entrance
Once a bridge is wider than one block, you can cut an entrance into it. Right-click a bridge with pliers to make one. This only works on bridges that are 2 or more blocks wide. Pliers or shears can be used to adjust the entrance afterwards.[4]
How does Macaw's Bridges work?
4 parts
Good news: there's nothing to power, pipe or automate here. Macaw's Bridges is a simple building mod, so it has no machines, no multiblocks and no energy, fluid or item handling. What it does have are placeable bridge blocks with a few small mechanics, and that's what this section covers.[1]
Bridge types and pieces
The mod adds a wide variety of bridges. In this pack you'll find wood and rope styles such as Acacia Bridge, Rope Acacia Bridge and Bamboo Bridge. There are also stone-style bridges like Andesite Bridge and the Balustrade family, for example Balustrade Stone Bricks Bridge.[1][3]
Many bridge styles come with matching extra pieces. Stairs, such as Andesite Bridge Stair and Bamboo Bridge Stair, let you ramp up or down. Piers, such as Andesite Bridge Pier and Asian Red Bridge Pier, act as supports. Some wooden ones are named Bridge Support instead, like Acacia Bridge Support.[3]
Making an entrance
Bridges have an adjustable entrance. The mod's own tooltip says to use Pliers or Shears to adjust it. The Pliers tooltip adds that you right-click on a bridge to make an entrance, and that this only works on bridges that are 2 or more wide.[4]
Lighting your bridge
Bridges can be lit with torches. The mod also has a light item whose tooltip says it's used on the handrails of bridges and stairs.[1][4]
Recycling stairs back into bridges
If you've made too many stairs, some bridge styles have a shapeless recycle recipe that turns the stair back into the matching bridge block. The recipe below, for example, gives you Acacia Bridge.[3]
The same pattern shows up for the Andesite, Bamboo and Rope Acacia bridges, which all have a recycle recipe tied to their stair. The recipe dump lists all of these as mod recipes.[3]
Unverified This pack has no config files for the mod, so there are no tunable options to cover. The exact Pliers and light item ids and their crafting recipes aren't confirmed in the sources, so check them in-game.
How do you progress through Macaw's Bridges?
3 parts
The sources for this pack show Macaw's Bridges as a set of crafting-table recipes, not a tiered progression. There are no machine or multiblock steps in the recipes I can see. You pick a bridge family by material and style and craft whichever one fits your build.[3]
What the pack's recipes show
Every recipe listed for this mod is either a shaped or a shapeless crafting recipe. The recipe data does not list ingredients, so this page doesn't either. Open the recipe in your recipe viewer to see exactly what you need.[3]
Here is the cobblestone bridge as an example of the shaped recipes:[3]

Bridge families
- Log bridges include Acacia Bridge, Birch Bridge, Cherry Bridge, Crimson Bridge and Dark Oak Bridge. Each has its own stair and support recipe.[3]
- Rope bridges cover the same wood types, for example Rope Acacia Bridge and Rope Birch Bridge, with matching stairs like Rope Acacia Bridge Stair.[3]
- Rail bridges include Acacia Rail Bridge and Birch Rail Bridge.[3]
- Bamboo bridges come as Bamboo Bridge and Dry Bamboo Bridge, each with a stair and a support.[3]
- Stone-type bridges include Cobblestone Bridge, Andesite Bridge, Diorite Bridge, Brick Bridge, Blackstone Bridge, Deepslate Brick Bridge, Deepslate Tile Bridge and End Stone Bricks Bridge.[3]
- Balustrade bridges cover many materials, from Balustrade Cobblestone Bridge and Balustrade Stone Bricks Bridge to Balustrade Nether Bricks Bridge and Balustrade Prismarine Bricks Bridge.[3]
- Asian Red Bridge is a styled bridge with its own stair and pier.[3]
- For lighting, there are recipes for Bridge Lantern and Bridge Torch.[3]
Stairs and recycling
Most bridge families have a stair recipe, and many also have a shapeless recycle recipe whose result is the matching flat bridge piece. The stone, bamboo, log and rope families all have them.[3]
Crafting Shapeless
- Cobblestone Bridge Stair
Recipe id: mcwbridges:cobblestone_bridge_stair_recycle
A shapeless recycle recipe that gives you the flat cobblestone bridge.
Unverified The sources here do not show any quest involving Macaw's Bridges, and they do not place the mod on the ATM Star quest path. Check the pack's quest book if you want to confirm whether any quest chapter mentions it.
