What is YUNG's Better Jungle Temples?
3 parts
YUNG's Better Jungle Temples is a worldgen mod that completely redesigns Minecraft's jungle temples from the ground up. You get a brand-new temple design with traps, puzzles and new loot, so exploring a jungle temple is a much bigger adventure than the vanilla version.[1]
Who it's for
This one is for explorers. If you like finding structures out in the world and working through traps and puzzles to reach the loot, you'll want to go temple hunting in the jungle.[1]
Mod compatibility
The temples have optional built-in compatibility with a few other mods. If you have Create or Supplementaries installed, parts of the temple have a chance of spawning using special pieces. These mods aren't required for the temples to work.[1]
The mod is also intended to be compatible with every worldgen mod, including YUNG's Ocean Monuments, YUNG's Better Nether Fortresses and YUNG's Extras.[1]
Version in this pack
This pack ships YUNG's Better Jungle Temples 1.21.1-NeoForge-3.1.2. It was first included in version 2.25 of the pack or earlier.[2]
Unverified The sources I have don't connect this mod to any quests, an in-jar guidebook or the ATM Star path, and they don't list any pack-specific changes to its recipes or configs. I can't say where it fits in the pack's progression beyond being a jungle exploration stop.
How do you get started with YUNG's Better Jungle Temples?
2 parts
Good news: there's nothing you need to craft first. YUNG's Better Jungle Temples is a world generation mod. It completely redesigns Minecraft's jungle temples with a new layout, traps, puzzles and loot, so your first step is to go out and find one.[1]
I couldn't find any in-pack recipes or quests for this mod's items, so there are no recipe blocks in this section. I'd rather tell you that than make something up.[1]
Your first steps
- Explore jungle biomes to look for a temple. The mod redesigns the temples from the ground up, so expect something very different from the vanilla one.[1]
- Go in carefully. The redesigned temples include traps and puzzles, and the loot is part of the redesign too.[1]
- Look out for special temple pieces. If certain other mods are installed, parts of the temple have a chance of spawning using special pieces. The mod lists Create and Supplementaries among them, and the feature is optional.[1]
Config options worth knowing
The mod has a general option that controls whether vanilla jungle temples are disabled. It also has a compatibility option for whether Pick Your Poison poison darts spawn in the temples.[3]
Unverified This pack's actual settings for these options (whether vanilla jungle temples are disabled, and which compatibility pieces are active) are not confirmed by the available sources. Check the config in your own instance.
How does YUNG's Better Jungle Temples work?
3 parts
Here's the honest answer for this section: YUNG's Better Jungle Temples has no machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation. It's a worldgen mod that replaces Minecraft's jungle temples with a completely redesigned structure, with new traps, puzzles and loot.[1]
So the "mechanics" you'll run into are the temple's own traps and puzzles, plus a few settings that change how the structure generates. The sources don't describe how individual traps or puzzles work, so I won't guess at them.[1]
Vanilla temples
The mod has a general option that controls whether vanilla jungle temples are disabled. The option's description is all the sources give, so what it does beyond that is unverified.[3]
Mod compatibility pieces
The mod has built-in compatibility with several other mods. If you have one of them installed, certain parts of the temple have a chance of spawning using special pieces. This is optional, and none of those mods are required. The listed mods are Create, Supplementaries, Alex's Mobs (Forge only) and Pick Your Poison (Fabric 1.19.2 only).[1]
There's also a compatibility option for Pick Your Poison poison darts, which controls whether they spawn in Better Jungle Temples.[3]
Unverified Whether the Pick Your Poison option does anything in this pack, and which of the other compatible mods are installed here, can't be confirmed from the sources. No config files for this mod were found in the pack.
Using it with other worldgen mods
The mod is intended to be fully compatible with every worldgen mod, including YUNG's Ocean Monuments, YUNG's Better Nether Fortresses and YUNG's Extras.[1]
No recipes in the pack produce this mod's items, so there's nothing to craft or automate here. You find the temple out in the jungle and explore it.[1]
What changed in YUNG's Better Jungle Temples between versions?
1 part
All the Mods 10 8.1 ships YUNG's Better Jungle Temples at version 3.1.2 for NeoForge 1.21.1. The mod was first included in All the Mods 10 1.0 or earlier.[2]
Unverified The sources here show no All the Mods 10 changelog entries for this mod, so the history below comes only from the mod's own changelogs.
Mod changelog
- 3.1.0: The mod was ported to 1.21.1, and all of its structure NBT files were updated.[4]
- 3.1.1: The minimum version requirements were lowered, so the mod works on both 1.21 and 1.21.1.[5]
- 3.1.2: Fixed an issue where feature mixins could cause worldgen deadlocks. This is the version in the pack now.[2][6]
