What is TrashSlot?
TrashSlot is a small utility mod that ships with the pack. This version of the pack includes TrashSlot 21.1.4, built for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1.[1]
It is not a new addition. TrashSlot was first included in the pack in version 2.2 or earlier, so it has been part of the modpack for a long time.[1]
Unverified The sources I have don't describe TrashSlot's features, its default controls or its config options, so this guide doesn't cover them. There is no confirmed information on where it fits in the pack's progression or on any ATM Star path, and no pack quests are confirmed to involve it.
How do you get started with TrashSlot?
2 parts
TrashSlot is a small quality-of-life mod, and the sources for this pack don't show any item to craft for it. So the first steps are about what you'll see on screen once you start playing: the hints, the trash slot toggle and a few options you can change.[2]
Let the hints guide you
TrashSlot shows a hint the first time the trash slot is toggled off, or when it can be enabled on a supported screen. A message like "Press %s to enable the trash slot for this screen!" shows the key assigned in your game in place of %s. Follow those messages first.[2]
- If you toggle the trash slot off, a hint tells you which key brings it back.[2]
- On a supported screen where the trash slot is not yet enabled, a hint tells you which key turns it on.[2]
- The slot can be locked and unlocked. Each time you change it, a message tells you which key switches it back.[2]
- If you try to trash a protected item, you'll see "Item cannot be trashed!"[2]
Options worth knowing about
The mod's config tooltips describe a few options that change how it behaves. These descriptions come from the mod itself, so check your own config if you want to see the values this pack uses.[2]
- instantDeletion makes the deletion slot delete items instantly, similar to Creative Mode.[2]
- deletionDenyList is a comma-separated list of items that cannot be deleted, written as "modid:name".[2]
- enableHints can be set to false to turn off the hint messages once you know your way around.[2]
- allowDeletionWhileTrashSlotIsInvisible lets the delete keybinds work even when the trash slot is hidden. The tooltip says this is not recommended.[2]
How does TrashSlot work?
5 parts
TrashSlot doesn't add machines, multiblocks or power and fluid handling. It adds a trash slot to supported inventory screens, so you can get rid of unwanted items without dropping them on the ground. Everything below is what the mod's own text says about how it behaves.[2]
Toggling and locking the trash slot
The trash slot can be switched on or off for each screen. When you toggle it off, the mod tells you to press a key to bring it back. On a supported screen where it isn't enabled yet, you get a prompt to press a key to enable it for that screen.[2]
You can also lock and unlock the slot. The mod shows a message when you lock it and another when you unlock it, each naming the key that does the opposite. The exact key bindings aren't in the sources, so check your Controls menu.[2]
Deleting items
Deleting is handled by keybinds. Normally they only work while the trash slot is visible. An option allows them even when the slot is hidden, but the mod itself says this isn't recommended.[2]
The instantDeletion option makes the deletion slot delete items instantly, similar to Creative Mode.[2]
Protecting items from deletion
A deny list holds items that can't be deleted. You write it as comma-separated entries in the form modid:name. If you try to trash a protected item, you see the message "Item cannot be trashed!"[2]
Creative mode
Hints
The first time the trash slot is toggled off, or can be enabled on a supported screen, TrashSlot shows a hint. The enableHints option turns this off if you don't want it.[2]
Unverified The default keybinds, the default values of each option, which screens are supported, and whether this pack changes any of the mod's settings can't be confirmed from the available sources. No config files for this mod were found in the pack.
What changed in TrashSlot between versions?
TrashSlot has been in the pack for a long time. It was already included in All the Mods 10 2.2 or earlier, so it's been part of the pack since the early releases.[1]
The one change the pack changelogs record for it is in All the Mods 10 2.42, which updated TrashSlot from 21.1.2 to 21.1.4.[3]
In All the Mods 10 4.14, the pack ships TrashSlot 21.1.4, using the file trashslot-neoforge-1.21.1-21.1.4.jar.[1]
Unverified What actually changed between TrashSlot 21.1.2 and 21.1.4 is unverified. No changelogs for the shipped jars are stored, so I can't tell you about new features or fixes in those updates.
