TrashSlot in All the Mods 10

TrashSlot is a NeoForge mod for Minecraft 1.21.1, and this pack ships version 21.1.11 of it. It has been part of the pack since version 2.25 or earlier, so it's a long-standing inclusion rather than a recent addition.^[1]

Unverified The sources I have don't describe what TrashSlot does in play, who it suits best, or where it fits in the pack's progression. Treat any detail on its features, controls or configuration as unconfirmed until it is checked in-game.

Unverified No quests in this pack involve TrashSlot, and it isn't on the ATM Star path. This comes from the guide's notes on the mod rather than from a pack file, so it's unverified.

TrashSlot adds a trash slot to supported screens, a slot where you can get rid of items you don't want. The first steps are less about crafting and more about knowing what the mod tells you on screen and which options protect your stuff.^[2]

Unverified The sources here show no recipe and no quest for TrashSlot, so there is no first item to craft. This section covers the on-screen hints and options instead. The quest book in game is where to check for anything more.

What you will see on your first screens

TrashSlot shows a hint the first time the trash slot is toggled off, or when it can be enabled on a supported screen. The hint names the key to press, so you never have to guess.^[2]

• On a supported screen where it can be enabled, you get a message telling you to press a key to enable the trash slot for that screen.^[2]
• If you toggle the trash slot off, you get a message with the key that re-enables it.^[2]
• The trash slot can be locked and unlocked. The hint shows which key to press for each state.^[2]
• If you try to trash an item that is protected, you see the message "Item cannot be trashed!".^[2]

Options worth knowing early

• Instant deletion makes the deletion slot delete items instantly, similar to Creative Mode.^[2]
• The deletion deny list is a list of items that cannot be deleted. You write it comma-separated in the "modid:name" format. It is a good safety net for valuable items.^[2]
• The delete keybindings can also be made to work in Creative. If you turn that on, items are deleted permanently in Creative, regardless of the instant deletion setting.^[2]
• Hints can be switched off if you don't want the first-time messages.^[2]
• Another option lets the delete keybinds work even when the trash slot is hidden. The option's own description says this is not recommended.^[2]

TrashSlot is a small utility mod. The text available for it describes a trash slot you can use on supported inventory screens to delete items. It doesn't describe machines, multiblocks, power, fluids or item automation, so this section only covers the trash slot itself.^[2]

Toggling and locking the trash slot

You can toggle the trash slot on and off for each screen. If you switch it off, the mod shows a hint telling you which key brings it back. If a supported screen doesn't have the slot enabled yet, you get a hint telling you which key enables it.^[2]

The slot can also be locked and unlocked. When you change the state, a message tells you which key to press to switch it back. The key names are filled in by the game, and the sources don't say what the default keys are.^[2]

The hints about toggling the slot only show the first time it is toggled off or can be enabled. The enableHints option turns them off completely if you find them annoying.^[2]

How deletion works

With the instantDeletion option on, the slot deletes items instantly, like Creative Mode.^[2]

The mod also has a deny list for items that must never be deleted. You write it as comma-separated entries in the form modid:name. If you try to trash an item on the list, you see the message "Item cannot be trashed!"^[2]

Delete keybinds

Besides the slot itself, TrashSlot has delete keybindings. These options change when they work.^[2]

• enableDeleteKeysInCreative makes the delete keybindings work in Creative as well.^[2]
• allowDeletionWhileTrashSlotIsInvisible lets you use the delete keybinds even when the trash slot is hidden. The mod itself describes this as not recommended.^[2]

Unverified No config files for TrashSlot are available for this pack, so the pack's actual values for these options, the deny list contents and the default keybinds are unconfirmed.

All the Mods 10 8.1 ships TrashSlot 21.1.11 (the file trashslot-neoforge-1.21.1-21.1.11.jar). The mod has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, and the pack changelogs show it being updated several times since then.^[1]

Pack updates to TrashSlot

• All the Mods 10 2.42: updated from 21.1.2 to 21.1.4.^[3]
• All the Mods 10 6.2: updated from 21.1.4 to 21.1.6.^[4]
• All the Mods 10 6.4: updated from 21.1.6 to 21.1.7.^[5]
• All the Mods 10 6.5: updated from 21.1.7 to 21.1.8.^[6]
• All the Mods 10 7.0: updated from 21.1.8 to 21.1.10.^[7]
• All the Mods 10 7.1: updated from 21.1.10 to 21.1.11.^[8]

The 7.1 update to 21.1.11 is the most recent change in these changelogs, and it is the version you get in 8.1.^[1][8]

Unverified What actually changed inside TrashSlot between these versions (new features, fixes, or behavior changes) is unverified. The pack changelogs only list the version bumps, and no mod changelogs are stored for the shipped jars.
