What is Dungeon Crawl?

2 parts

Dungeon Crawl adds big underground dungeon structures to the overworld for you to find and explore. Each dungeon has its own randomized layout, size, loot and look, so no dungeon is quite like the last one.[1]

The pack ships Dungeon Crawl 2.3.17 for NeoForge. Recent versions of the mod are NeoForge-only, and older ones used Forge.[1][2]

Where it comes from

The mod is a spiritual successor to the 1.x versions of the Roguelike Dungeons mod by Greymerk. It reuses most of that mod's room designs and general architectural style, and it aims to expand on the original content with more configuration options.[1]

You can customize the mod extensively through data packs. For example, you can add mobs, loot, custom themes and more.[1]

The mod's author says it is still in active development and is not considered complete.[1]

Quest book placement

Unverified The sources here do not show a quest chapter, group or position for Dungeon Crawl, and they do not show whether the ATM Star path uses it. The pack's own quest book is where that would be told.

How do you get started with Dungeon Crawl?

2 parts

Dungeon Crawl generates large underground dungeon structures in the overworld. The sources for this pack don't point to any item you need to craft first, so getting started is about finding a dungeon and heading in.[1]

Each dungeon's layout, size, loot and aesthetics are randomized, so don't expect every dungeon to feel the same.[1]

What to do first

  1. Look underground in the overworld. That is where the mod places its dungeon structures.[1]
  2. Explore each dungeon as a fresh layout. Size and loot are randomized, so some dungeons will be bigger or richer than others.[1]
Tip: The mod is still in active development and isn't considered complete, so expect it to keep changing.[1]

Customizing dungeons

The mod can be customized extensively through data packs. You can add mobs, loot, custom themes and more. The project page says more information will come on its wiki after the 3.0 update.[1]

Unverified Any Dungeon Crawl recipes, quests or config changes in this pack would show up in the pack's recipe viewer, quest book and config files. The sources here do not show any, so this section doesn't describe them. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

How does Dungeon Crawl work?

3 parts

Dungeon Crawl is not a machine mod. The project page describes it as a mod that generates large underground dungeon structures in the overworld for you to explore, so the mechanics here are about world generation and not about machines, power or automation.[1]

What the mod does

  • Dungeons are added underground in the overworld, and you explore them yourself.[1]
  • Each dungeon's layout, size, loot and aesthetics are randomized, so you can't count on a dungeon looking or playing like the last one you found.[1]
  • The mod is a spiritual successor to the 1.x series of Roguelike Dungeons by Greymerk. It reuses most of that mod's room designs and general architectural style, and it adds more configuration possibilities.[1]

Customization through data packs

The project page says you can customize the mod extensively with data packs. Examples it gives are adding mobs, loot and custom themes. It says more information will arrive on the mod's wiki after the 3.0 update.[1]

Tip: Because loot and layout are randomized for every dungeon, treat each one as a fresh exploration. Don't expect a fixed route or a fixed reward.[1]

Machines, power, fluids and automation

The project page mentions no machines, multiblocks, power, fluid or item handling, or automation for this mod, so there is nothing to explain in those areas.[1]

Unverified The sources here show no config files, recipes or in-game descriptions for this mod in the pack, so any dungeon values the pack may have changed are unverified. This site does hold All the Mods 10's own recipes, read from the pack itself: look the item up in the item browser.

What changed in Dungeon Crawl between versions?

The sources for this mod are thin, so this is a short history. Dungeon Crawl has been in the pack since All the Mods 10 2.25 or earlier, and the pack file doesn't say exactly which release first added it.[2]

  • All the Mods 10 6.5: Dungeon Crawl was updated from 2.3.15 to 2.3.17.[3]
  • All the Mods 10 8.1: the pack ships Dungeon Crawl 2.3.17 (the NeoForge 1.21 build), so it's still on the same version it was updated to in 6.5.[2][3]

Unverified What actually changed between Dungeon Crawl 2.3.15 and 2.3.17 is unverified. There are no stored mod changelogs for the shipped jars, so I can't tell you about new features, fixes or balance changes in those updates.
